Celtics list veteran big man Al Horford as OUT vs. Brooklyn Nets in front half of back-to-back

In-season tournament or not, Horford is sitting. Should we worry?

Despite it being the very first game the Boston Celtics will have ever played and the front end of a back-to-back homestand with the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night, the Celtics have announced that veteran big man Al Horford will sit out Boston’s tilt with the Brooklyn Nets on Friday evening.

Perhaps more concerning to fans of the team, the Florida alum is listed as out for “right knee injury management” of a currently undisclosed knee issue. Whether this is simply verbiage being used by the team to rest the veteran on the night they deem it most helpful or if Horford has something already bothering his knee this early in the season is unknown. But the atypical tendency of holding a player out on the front half of a game is certainly enough to warrant concern until the media can learn more about his status.

Boston also lists two way big man Neemias Queta as out with “right foot injury management”.
