Georgia (6-2) vs Vanderbilt (0-8) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Vanderbilt Will Win

Can the team use all the changes to rise up and start producing just a little bit?

Interim head coach Todd Fitch takes over for Derek Mason after an 0-8 start, all of the focus will continue to be on Sarah Fuller and whether or not she’ll get a real kicking attempt, and the pressure is totally and completely off.

A 41-0 loss to Missouri will do that.

The offense actually was working a bit before getting stomped last week, with a. passing game that hit the 300-yard mark in three of the previous four games.

Georgia’s secondary gives up plenty of yards – and only picked off five passes in the last seven games – and there are just enough giveaways to matter. However …

Week 14 College Schedule

Why Georgia Will Win

JT Daniels has boosted up the offense and give the Dawgs a potential star to build around.

He stepped in and hit Mississippi State for 401 yards and a whole lot of big plays, and followed it up with a functional 139-yard, two-touchdown day against South Carolina. He wasn’t needed last week, mostly because the offense was busy running for 332 yards and four scores ripping off big run after big run.

The Georgia offensive line will be good, the pass rush will be great, and there’s a strong chance that Vanderbilt isn’t able to pivot after the Missouri debacle.

CFN Experts Picks: College

What’s Going To Happen

Fuller will get a real, live field goal attempt late, but she won’t get an extra point try.

The Bulldogs will put this away with 17 first quarter points, and the defense will take over from there.

Missouri (3-3) vs Vanderbilt (0-7) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Vanderbilt Will Win

The Commodores have a good-looking freshman quarterback in Ken Seals who’s coming off his best game of the season.

Florida’s defense isn’t special, but it’s still Florida, and Seals hit 65% of his passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. He took more shots down the field, and the offense is starting to open up a little more.

The O is helped by going against a defense that’s the worst in the SEC at taking the ball away, the D doesn’t have any Mizzou running game to worry about, and if the team can control the clock and be decent on third downs …

Why Missouri Will Win

The Missouri defense continues to be terrific on third downs, leading the SEC as it allow teams to convert just 36% of their chances.

This is a steady Mizzou team, but it’s not spectacular. It’ll get to 200 passing yards, the running game will struggle, and the D will get off the field – no one has converted 40% of the time on third downs over the last four games.

Vanderbilt isn’t the worst team in the SEC at stopping third down conversions, but it’s not terribly far off, allowing offenses to connect on 45% of their tries.

Offensively, yes, Vandy can move the chains a little bit, but the offense doesn’t score enough – it only got past 17 points twice – and the biggest problem overall is the inability to help itself with takeaways. Vandy is dead last in the SEC in turnover margin with just one takeaway in the last three games and just four in the last six.

What’s Going To Happen

Get into the history of Vanderbilt vs. other SEC teams, and there isn’t a whole lot of fun. However, against Missouri, the Commodores are 4-5-1, starting with a tie to kick off the 1957 season, and coming up with a 21-14 victory last year.

They’re not going to tie it up.

The Mizzou defense will come up with a strong performance – keeping the Commodore O to under 20 – Connor Bazelak and the passing attack will be good enough, and expect one big special teams play to bust things open.

Florida (4-1) vs Vanderbilt (0-5) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Florida Will Win

There’s no hotter college quarterback than Kyle Trask, maybe ever.

That include Joe Burrow.

All he has done is throw 28 touchdown passes – four or more in each of the six games – with just three picks while hitting 70% of his passes for a machine of a Gator attack.

Arkansas has been playing well. Six Trask touchdown passes and 63 points later … nope.

Georgia had the SEC’s best defense when it rolled into Jacksonville. It rolled right out getting hit for 474 passing yards, four touchdowns, and 44 points.

Vanderbilt doesn’t have the offensive firepower to come close to keeping up, and the defense doesn’t have the pass rush or the defensive front to bother Trask. The deep shots will be there all game long.

Why Vanderbilt Will Win

For being a winless team, Vanderbilt isn’t all that bad.

In normal times with a normal offseason schedule, this is a 4-8ish team with a few non-conference wins to turn everything up for a few upsets. The offense can move the chains, the offensive line hasn’t been bad, and the team probably had Mississippi State beaten if it wasn’t for five turnovers.

The one shot it has it to slow things down to a dead stop. Vandy is okay in the time of possession battle, and for all the good things Florida does, the defense will give up drives.

Georgia was a mess, but Arkansas was able to both run and throw for over 200 yards. The Commodores are going to need a few takeaways, the offense has to keep the ball for well over 35 minutes, and …

CFN Experts Picks, Predictions: Week 12

What’s Going To Happen

Nope.

Vanderbilt’s secondary has one interception on the year and over the last three games it allowed Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Kentucky combine to hit 82% of their passes.

Throw another four-plus touchdown day onto the pile for Heisman-elect Kyle Trask.

Kentucky (2-4) vs Vanderbilt (0-5) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Kentucky Will Win

The Vanderbilt offense just isn’t working well enough.

The defense really is better than the overall numbers might make it appear, but it’s not getting any help from an O that only scored more than 17 points once, and even then that was in a 54-21 loss to an Ole Miss that gives out big yards and points like candy.

Kentucky isn’t exactly a high-octane thrill ride on offense, but it’s great at controlling games coming up with the big plays in key moments, and it lives off of takeaways with 12 on the year. The Cats are +8 in turnover margin in the two wins, and -4 in the four losses.

Vanderbilt is an SEC-worst -8 on the season, it turned it over two times or more in every games and it has given it away eight times in the last two outings. Give UK a few takeaways, and it’s over. But …

CFN College Football Experts Picks

Why Vanderbilt Will Win

The Kentucky offense is right in the Vandy wheelhouse.

The Wildcats don’t crank up big offensive production sort of by design – it’s a controlled team that focuses more on tempo than putting up big, splashy plays – but they’re dead last in the SEC in total offense, passing offense, and first downs.

What’s going right? The Commodores might not be scoring, but the passing game has started to kick in, with Ken Seals hitting Ole Miss for 319 yards and Mississippi State for 336 yards. There have been too many picks, but he’s generally been accurate.

Vandy doesn’t have a problem with penalties, the offensive line hasn’t been bad, and the team is able to pull a Kentucky and control the clock a bit.

CFN Experts Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

Kentucky is the one team that works with what Vanderbilt does and has the capability of doing … and vice versa.

UK will do just enough offensively to go along with a defense that will take the ball away twice, keep Vandy pinned deep with a great day from the punting game, and will use the SEC’s best scoring defense to get through with a desperately needed win.

Mississippi State (1-4) vs Vanderbilt (0-4) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Why Mississippi State Will Win

Vanderbilt doesn’t score.

The Commodores are last in the SEC in total offense, partly because the line has major problems keeping defenses out of the backfield. There’s no real running game, the third downs aren’t happening, and the O is dead last in the SEC in first downs.

They put up 21 last week against Ole Miss and still lose by 33. In the previous three games, they scored 26 points total, and now they have to deal with a Mississippi State defense that might have had problems with Alabama last week, but has been solid overall.

Vandy will look like its running in sand compared to the Crimson Tide.

However …

Why Vanderbilt Will Win

Mississippi State doesn’t score.

It’s early, it will be better in time, and eventually all of the right pieces will be in place, but this Mike Leach thing really, really, really isn’t working.

Everyone remembers the O exploding on LSU, but it only scored 30 points over the last four games, failing to score a touchdown in two of the last three games. There’s no downfield passing game, the running game is non-existent – especially with Kylin Hill going pro – and this is a game for a Vandy D to catch a little bit of a break.

However …

What’s Going To Happen

Vanderbilt doesn’t pick off passes, coming up with just one interception on the year. As rough as the season has been for the Commodores, they’re finally going to be in good battle they can win, but the Mississippi State mid-range passing attack will be just effective enough to get by.

The first one to score might just win this.
