Watch Tom Brady read mean tweets about himself on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

“Hi, I’m Tom Brady and I’m a crybaby.”

Tom Brady is enjoying his offseason in late January for the first time since 2016.

On Thursday night before the Super Bowl, he brought some laughter, and some utter confusion. To begin, he sent out a cryptic tweet that left the NFL world buzzing about his future. He also joined the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ show and read off some ‘Mean Tweets’ about himself. Sony Michel joined the show also and had a hilarious tweet fired off toward him.

It’s full of ‘crybaby’ insults and expletives.

Peter King thinks this team could be a ‘sleeping giant’ for Tom Brady

Few are talking about this team in connection with Tom Brady.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady may have a few free-agency suitors, who aren’t the most obvious option. And the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are among the strongest candidates in the NFL even if they’re not getting the recognition as such. That’s, in part, because the team can retain quarterback Jameis Winston, who had a wild 30-touchdown and 30-interception season.

Winston is eligible for an extension or for the franchise tag. But perhaps Tamp Bay would part ways with him and pursue a veteran like Brady.

“The one I believe is the sleeping giant in this is Tampa Bay,” King said. “And, when I say that, if Jameis Winston is realistic with what his contract demands are, in my opinion, he’ll be the quarterback of the Bucs next year. But, I don’t know that, I’m hearing some things out of Tampa that he might want a little bit more money than the Bucs wanna pay. And we’ll see if that pans out. ”

King added: “They got a pretty good offensive line, and they’ve got two excellent receivers (Chris Godwin and Mike Evans). They’ve got a really good, young tight end (O.J. Howard). And they’ve got a very imaginative head coach (Bruce Arians) and offensive coordinator in the passing game. So, I can’t tell you absolutely what they would do, or what they’re going to do. But I can tell you that they’re fascinating, to me. … When I think about Tampa Bay and Tom Brady, it makes as much sense to me as any of these other teams out here with the possible exception of the Chargers.”

There is some question as to how Brady might fit into Arians system, but King’s point about the surrounding talent is a strong one. Brady would probably love the look of the roster on offense, with no shortage of playmakers at every position except running back, which (in theory) is a solvable problem with so many talented backs entering free agency. Arians, meanwhile, would be relieved to have a quarterback who takes care of the ball after Winston’s turnover-heavy season.

If Brady and the Patriots do not come to an extension agreement, the Buccaneers may just emerge as a strong candidate for Brady in free agency.

Report: Tom Brady’s cryptic tweet isn’t related to his football future

Tom Brady continues to troll the NFL world.

Tom Brady continues to troll the NFL world.

He posted a cryptic photo on social media Thursday night, but it isn’t correlated with his football future, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Brady posted the photo in the midst of a looming free agency decision that has drawn an unreal amount of speculation. He either stays with the New England Patriots, leaves for another team or retires. He said it’s not likely he retires this offseason, and the March 18 free agency period is still over a month away.

So, apparently he’s going to keep his decision mysterious, while trolling everyone who’s following the decision.

Brady will be 43-years-old at the beginning of the 2020 season and he has realistic options to leave for teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts or the Chicago Bears.

He’s obviously having some fun with this peculiar situation.

This Tom Brady tweet is so cryptic that he must be trolling

A comically cryptic photo. He’s messing with us… right?

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is trying to send a message. But it’s not exactly clear what he’s saying. He posted a photo to Instagram and Twitter of himself walking out on the turf at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.

There was no caption, no emoji. There wasn’t even color. The post was just a black-and-white photo. It is one of those classically cryptic social media posts. I, for one, believe the post is so cryptic that it’s a piece of comedy. Brady has been following the media following his every move this offseason. He’s seen the reports — some true and some untrue — about his real estate dealings and appearances in cities not named Boston or Foxborough. And he’s having a good laugh at everyone with this moody image, which has the internet in mass hysteria.

So here it is.

What do you think? Is he trying to say something? Or is he simply enjoying the fact that no one knows what he’s trying to say?

Antonio Brown wants to play wherever Tom Brady goes in 2020

Antonio Brown says he wants to make an NFL comeback.

Former New England Patriots receiver Antonio Brown has waffled on whether he wants to return to the NFL or not. But in an Instagram post on Wednesday, Brown explained he wants to play — and with just one quarterback: Tom Brady.

“Want to play more than ever 2020 wherever @tombrady go #BeEncouraged,” Brown wrote on Instagram.

Brown is out of the NFL after facing allegations of rape and sexual assault. He spent less than two weeks with the Patriots, who released him after additional accusations of sexual harassment and sending intimidating text messages. The NFL is investigating those allegations and accusations — they do not have a timeline for their findings.

No team can possibly feel good about rostering Brown after the tumultuous year he’s had.

Jimmy Garoppolo reflects on becoming a starter, gives Jarrett Stidham advice

Jimmy Garoppolo’s path to the Super Bowl has been a story of patience.

Jimmy Garoppolo’s path to the Super Bowl has been a story of patience.

The San Francisco 49er’s signal-caller is in his sixth NFL season, and it’s the first time he’s played a full slate of games. Garoppolo spent three years behind Tom Brady with the New England Patriots and injuries have held him back during the past two seasons with the 49ers.

He’s truly become a student of the game, while patiently waiting on his moment to shine. That moment came, and he’s less than a week away from a Super Bowl LIV showdown with the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs.

Garoppolo has been a worthy starter, and his 23-5 record tells the story. He spoke about the moment that he knew he would be ready for a starting gig while speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

“You always want to be the starter, even when I came in Day 1,” Garoppolo said, transcribed by NESN. “I had that mindset that I wanted to be the starter, I was going to act as the starter, prepare as the starter, but I think probably Year 2, Year 3, something like that. I could personally see myself grow and had a chance at being successful.”

He took the time to learn from Brady and soak in the culture that New England carries. Garoppolo transferred that knowledge to his current role and is extremely grateful for it. He passed on some advice to Jarret Stidham, who could take over Brady’s spot if the legendary quarterback decides to leave in free agency.

“I think as a young quarterback who’s sitting behind someone learning, I think you have to embrace it a little bit but still at the same time, you have to challenge yourself and challenge the guy ahead of you,” Garoppolo said. “You want to be the starter and have that mentality. But I think whenever you get that opportunity to learn from a guy, especially someone who’s been successful in the NFL, it will only benefit you.

“Personally, I got to sit for three-and-a-half years and learn from Tom and Coach Belichick and all of those guys, and I think it benefitted me tremendously. So, I think there are different ways to look at it, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat.”

The situation would be quite different for Stidham though, because he’s only been behind Brady for a year. But, he would have to soak up all the knowledge he received and take in the leadership that surrounds him.

As for Garoppolo, the opportunity of a lifetime is less than a week today, like Brady said, “go handle business.

What Patriots are saying about Dante Scarnecchia’s retirement

The definition of the Patriot Way

After 34 seasons with the New England Patriots, offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia is calling it quits.

The Patriots will have a tremendous void to fill, but they have time to figure out a replacement. Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady made sure pay respects to man that kept the offense’s foundation strong. New England doesn’t typically carry the most talented offensive line, but Scarnecchia always found a way to make it work.

Kraft released a statement shortly after Scarnecchia announced his retirement.

“Dante Scarnecchia has been unbelievable in every way. As a coach, he was extraordinarily talented at teaching his players and bringing the most out of each of them,” Kraft said. “Dante put everything he had into helping his players achieve their maximum potential — the mark of a great coach. His contributions to our team and to the game of football are unprecedented over the last four decades. Yet even more remarkable is the impact Dante has had on countless players, coaches and staff members who have walked through our doors.

“He modeled the principles he believed in through his hard work, diligence and integrity. He held himself accountable. He trained alongside his players. He treated everyone with respect. There truly is no way to sum up the incredible career he’s had, the positive impact he’s made on our franchise or how much he will be missed. We are forever grateful for Dante and wish him the absolutely best in his next chapter, along with his lovely wife Susan and his family. The New England Patriots are better because of Dante Scarnecchia, and he will always have a home with us.”

Belichick followed up with a thoughtful comment.

“It was a privilege to coach with Dante for so long,” Belichick said. “I knew that long before his initial retirement and throughout a second act of continued excellence. Dante is among the very best assistant coaches ever.”

Brady commented on the Patriots’ Instagram post, showing his respect for the pivotal assistant coach.

Scarnecchia, 71, was the longest-tenured coach in 2019 and he’s spent the most time as a coach in New England’s history. He’ll go down as one of the greatest assistant coaches ever.

The Patriots have lost Scarnecchia, Joe Judge and Bret Bielema from the coaching staff so far this offseason.

Rob Gronkowski’s advice for Tom Brady: ‘Go test out the market’

“Go test the market.”

Rob Gronkowski seems to think Tom Brady has earned free agency.

The retired New England Patriots tight end and current FOX Sports analyst spoke to reporters on Tuesday during Super Bowl week in Miami, and he addressed the burning question about Brady: What does the quarterback’s future look like? Gronk had some advice.

“I truly believe he deserves the opportunity to go explore, see what’s out there,” Gronk told reporters, via NESN’s Doug Kyed. “He’s been playing for so long — just the way he’s been play, the level he’s been playing at — he definitely deserves an opportunity to go out there and test the market.

“I mean, why wouldn’t you? You’ve never done it before in your career. He’s going to be a free agent for the first time in his career, so good for him. Go test out the market and then do what’s best for himself. That’s the decision he has to make: what’s best for himself, what’s best for his family.”

The Patriots and Brady can agree to terms on an extension at any point prior and past the start of the new league year, but he is scheduled to be a free agent in March 2020. It would be his first foray into free agency during his 20-year career. And if he signs with a new team, it would be a strange shift after Brady has thrown 11,614 passes for the Patriots, with six Super Bowl wins along the way. It’s bizarre to imagine Brady in a different uniform.

“Everyone gets used to it after a little bit, but it would definitely be strange for a few weeks,” Gronk said. “It may be strange. But everyone adapts like any other time it happens.”

Drew Bledsoe says he once thought Tom Brady would never be a starter

“He’s never going to be a starter.”

When Tom Brady entered the NFL, there can’t have been many people who believed he would be a starting caliber quarterback. Every NFL team, including the Patriots, passed on him in the draft until he fell to 199th overall in the sixth round. So as quarterback Drew Bledsoe reflected upon Brady’s career, Bledsoe was honest about the early days.

Here’s the real truth of it,” Bledsoe said before making his confession. “So when he was on the practice squad his rookie year, I actually called my financial advisor about him like, ‘Hey, I really like this kid. He’s never going to be a starter. He’s just going to be Jason Garrett or one of those guys who are just around forever, but you’ll really like the kid.'”

Bledsoe and Brady have had a long-standing friendship, even after Brady supplanted Bledsoe in 2000 and went on to win the franchise’s first Super Bowl (with five more coming later).

“Tommy was a young kid out of Michigan, a skinny little twerp,” Bledsoe told me in 2019. “The one thing that stuck out about Tommy when he was a young kid was that he was immediately an extremely hard worker and had a great personality about him. People naturally gravitated toward him. None of us — at that point — thought he would be something special.”

Tom Brady sends honest message to Eli Manning about retirement, and the Giants QB responds

Eli Manning wasn’t so sure Tom Brady was joking.

Tom Brady reached out to Eli Manning on Twitter this week to issue words of congratulations to the New York Giants quarterback, who is retiring from the NFL. Brady, however, didn’t have exclusively nice things to say. The New England Patriots quarterback admitted that he wished Manning hadn’t won both his Super Bowl appearances.

Those victories came over Brady’s Patriots. Manning delivered two of Brady’s three Super Bowl losses, including when the Giants ruined the Patriots’ perfect season in 2007, with an 18-1 record after a loss in Super Bowl XLII. Brady is 6-3 in Super Bowls, with two losses to New York and a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Most people labelled Brady’s message as playful or joking. Manning, however, wasn’t so sure Brady was messing around.

“I’ve been around Tom a number of times and see how competitive he is,” Manning said. “We joke around a little bit, but I think it’s not real funny to him.”

Added Manning: “Everybody wants to make it me versus Tom Brady. It’s the Giants versus the Patriots. The defense was outstanding, guys made plays. David Tyree, Mario Manningham, Plaxico Burress in the corner of the end zone … You just cherish those moments.”
