Former Sooners’ defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has agreed to a three-year contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday.

After three years with the Sooners that included 14.5 sacks, McCoy has played 10 seasons in the NFL. After being drafted third in the 2010 draft, McCoy played nine years with the Buccaneers, totaling 54.5 sacks and earning Pro Bowl status six times.

In 35 starts and 76 games played Phillips has racked up 113 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 33 quarterback hits, a forced fumble, and an interception.

Details regarding Phillips’ deal have yet to be released, but the contract is reportedly set for three years.

Kenneth Murray will not be a participant at Oklahoma’s Pro Day tomorrow.

The projected first-round linebacker tweaked his hamstring while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine just two weeks ago.

Before pulling his hamstring, Murray posted solid numbers to keep him in the first round range and maybe become the first linebacker taken overall. Murray ran a 4.52 40-yard dash on his first go for sixth-best out of the linebacking group before pulling up on his second attempt. He was also sixth-best in the vertical jump at 38 inches and was third-best among linebackers with a 10-foot-9-inch broad jump.

Although unable to participate in on-field drills following the hamstring injury, Murray impressed most off the field. One anonymous NFL general manager said that Murray’s interview was the “single greatest combine interview I ever had.” High praise for the former Sooner has moved Murray up draft boards around the league. Projected as a first-rounder, Murray has slid up from the back end of the first to the middle of the pack in the first round due to his athleticism and wits.

At Oklahoma in his junior season, the star linebacker recorded 102 tackles of his 325 career tackles. Finishing his Sooners career with 36.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, six pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.

Scheduled participants for Oklahoma’s Pro Day are WR Nick Basquine, DL Dillon Faamatau, DL Neville Gallimore, S Kahlil Haughton, QB Jalen Hurts, WR CeeDee Lamb, DL Kenneth Mann, WR A.D. Miller, WR Lee Morris, CB Parnell Motley, DL Marquise Overton, OL R.J. Proctor, and RB Marcelias Sutton.

Baker Mayfield’s Heisman Trophy statue to be unveiled during spring game inside the stadium

Nearly three years after Baker Mayfield last played at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, he will be enshrined forever.

Head coach Lincoln Riley told reporters on Monday that Mayfield’s Heisman Trophy statue will be unveiled during the Sooners’ spring game. As has become a tradition at Oklahoma, those who have won Heisman Trophies have been enshrined with full-size bronze statues on the east side of Owen Field.

Mayfield’s statue will be unveiled inside the stadium as part of the spring game held April 18th at 5p.m.

In his three seasons at Oklahoma, Mayfield was a Heisman Trophy finalist twice. In 2016 alongside Sooners wide receiver Dede Westbrook, Mayfield finished second to Louisville’s Lamar Jackson before winning the covenant award in 2017.

Mayfield posted 12,292 yards, a 69.8% completion percentage, 138 total touchdowns, and a 189.4 passer rating in his three seasons at Oklahoma.

Mayfield was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, picked by the Cleveland Browns to become the fourth Sooner drafted No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft and the first since Sam Bradford in 2010.

Former Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray impressed front offices more off the field than on the field at the NFL Combine this past weekend.

Former Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray impressed front offices more off the field than on the field at the NFL Combine this past weekend.

Good Morning Football’s Peter Schrager talked to one AFC coach who said that Murray gave him and his team the “single greatest combine interview I ever had.”

Murray was quoted saying he wanted to be “Luke Kuechly and then some,” when it comes to patrolling the defensive side of the ball.

With 102 total tackles last season and 335 total tackles in his three years at Oklahoma, Murray is a force to be reckoned with at middle linebacker.

Murray simply told coaches that he was “born to lead,” when asked why he wanted to be in the NFL.

He even opened up to his prospective employers about his childhood, telling teams that he helped raise three special-needs children that his father adopted.

Murray has a chance to become a cornerstone of one lucky team’s defense for the foreseeable future when the 2020 NFL Draft gets underway on April 23-25.

…former Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray says he is ‘solid’.

After pulling up with an apparent hamstring injury while running his second attempt at the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, former Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray says he is ‘solid’.

Murray ran a 4.52 officially on his first attempt, good for sixth-fastest out of the linebackers at the combine.

Matt Miller checked in on Murray this morning to which Murray said he is good to go moving forward while indicating that he strained his hamstring on his second attempt.

Alongside his 4.52-second 40 time, Murray put up 21 reps on the bench press, a 38.0-inch vertical jump (fourth-best for linebackers), and a 129.0-inch broad jump (third-best for linebackers).

Bob Stoops, Dallas Renegades drop first rivalry game to Houston Roughnecks

Bob Stoops has been here before.

Bob Stoops has been here before.

Stoops lost his starting quarterback 10 years ago just a stone’s throw from where he lost Landry Jones to injury this afternoon.

Sam Bradford was driven into the ground by BYU the opening weekend of the 2009 Oklahoma Sooners’ season at AT&T Stadium, forcing the 2008 Heisman Trophy winner to miss the rest of the season.

Jones, a freshman, came in to replace Bradford in a baptism by fire as he went six of twelve for 51 yards in the 14-13 loss to the Cougars.

Today, it was Jones’ season that may have came to an end.

With 4:42 left in the game, Jones was leading the Renegades down the field when he was rolled up on, leaving the field in immense pain.

Once down 15-0, Jones had the Renegades in striking distance down 27-20 when he left the game. On the subsequent play, Dallas’ back up Phillip Nelson threw turned the ball over on an acrobatic interception off the hands of his intended receiver with two minutes left in the game, effectively handing the win to the Roughnecks.

“No one here is against each other, no one’s pointing fingers at anybody else,” Stoops said to his team postgame.

Jones threw three interceptions on the first three Renegades possessions, leading to Houston taking a 15-11 lead into the half.

Down 21-20 in the fourth, the Roughnecks forced a sack-fumble returned for a touchdown to give Houston a 27-20 lead that they would preserve for the win.

Dallas has a short week as they host the New York Guardians on Saturday at Globe Life Park at 4p.m. CT. The game will be broadcasted on FOX.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones suffered a lower-body injury late in the fourth quarter against Houston as he was driving Dallas down the field with less than three minutes to play.

Clearly in pain, Jones left the field and was shown with a heavy wrap around his left knee, the knee he already wears a brace on.

An emotional Jones was shown on the sideline in tears being consoled by teammates and coaches as the Renegades turned the ball over inside the Roughnecks five-yard line.

The first matchup between the two Texas XFL teams was not a good showing for Jones. With three interceptions early, Jones composed himself to bring the Renegades to within a possession when he suffered his injury.

Jones was 25-for-38 (66%) for 205 yards and a touchdown aside from his three turnovers.

Missing Dallas’ season opener due to an injury suffered in the offseason, Jones was under center for the Renegades in Week 2 and Week 3, winning both games for Dallas, bringing them to 2-1 coming into Week 4.

It is undetermined how long Jones will be out but by his reaction, it seems as though his season could be over.

Jalen Hurts runs, jumps among best quarterbacks at NFL Combine

Jalen Hurts did not hurt his draft stock yesterday and that is something both Oklahoma and Alabama fans can be thankful for.

Jalen Hurts did not hurt his draft stock yesterday and that is something both Oklahoma and Alabama fans can be thankful for.

Hurts ran a 4.59 official 40-yard dash, bested only by Hawaii quarterback Cole McDonald who ran a 4.58.

In the vertical jump Hurts reached a 35.0″ vert tying fellow transfer quarterback (Clemson to Missouri) Kelly Bryant for third best. McDonald led the way once again with a 36.0″ vert.

Both Hurts and Bryant led the quarterbacks in the broad jump, sticking 125.0″ (10.4 feet).

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah went so far as to say on air yesterday that he believes Hurts will not be on the draft board by the third round.

In his lone season at Oklahoma Hurts completed 237 passes for 3,851 yards good for a 70% completion rate. He accounted for 53 of the Sooners’ touchdowns in 2019 with 32 through the air, 20 on the ground and one touchdown reception.

Hurts’ passing was overshadowed by his ability to tote the rock as he rushed the ball 233 times for 1,298 yards. His durability and athleticism have him sliding up draft boards here and there.

The NFL Draft is set for April 25-28 in Las Vegas.
