Seattle Seahawks vs Detroit Lions Game Preview

Why Seattle Seahawks Will Win

Detroit is missing some of its explosion.

Star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and RB D’Andre Swift are out, and that’s a problem for a team that needs all the points and offensive options it can possibly use.

The Detroit defense is having problems.

It’s the worst in the NFL in scoring D, it’s awful against the run, and the O needs to keep things moving against a Seattle offense that might not be explosive, but converts its third down tries.

Fortunately for the Lions …

Week 4 CFN NFL Expert Picks

Why Detroit Lions Will Win

The Seattle offense is awful.

Detroit might be struggling defensively, but it playing Philadelphia and Minnesota will skew the stats.

The D gets a bit of a break against a Seattle attack that’s not doing anything on the ground and works too hard to generate points off decent drives.

Missing some of the key offensive parts hurts, but Jamaal Williams has been a strong back when getting the chance, and Jared Goff is underappreciated at moving the work around.

Week 4 NFL Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

Is it really possible that Detroit is just that deep offensively?

Again, the defense finally catches a bit of a break, and Goff should be okay against a Seattle defense that doesn’t generate enough pressure. This doesn’t have to be a shootout like past Lion games, and it’ll show in a low scoring fight.

Denver Broncos vs Seattle Seahawks Game Preview

Why Denver Broncos Will Win

Just about every NFL team has a decent starting quarterback.

Atlanta has Marcus Mariota, but it has Desmond Ridder to groom. Cleveland is in bad shape, but Deshaun Watson will eventually be the man. Seattle really is going into the season with Geno Smith as the starter.

All the hype this offseason was over the revamped offense with Russell Wilson taking over, but it’s the defense that should rise up and shine, especially in the secondary.

The Denver pass rush might be a question mark, but it shouldn’t be an issue.

Week 1 CFN NFL Expert Picks

Why Seattle Seahawks Will Win

Can the receiving corps help out Geno?

The Seahawks have the type of team that should push for a top five overall pick – and it’s a quarterback rich draft – but they already have the targets who can help out a horrible QB situation.

There’s a good rotation of backs to work with, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are terrific, and as long as the defense can keep this somewhat close, the offense might get that one drive – and the energy from the 12th man – needed late.

Week 1 NFL Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

It’s Russell Wilson going back to Seattle. He’s going to go off early, the Seattle defense won’t be able to do enough to keep the game in check, and the mistakes are going to come from Smith and the struggling offense in the second half.

It won’t be a total wipeout, but the Broncos will take full control in the third quarter.

NFL Letdown Games for Every Team

What are the potential letdown games for every NFL team? They’re the battles that should be a problem.

What games are the ones each NFL team has to look out for? It’s a LONG season with plenty of lulls, so which games are set up to be a letdown moment for every team?

Predicting each outcome takes into account location, scheduling fatigue, matchup intensity, and much more. These are the games – including the sandwich battles between two giant opponents – that each team should probably win, but might have issues.

2022 NFL Schedules

Why Seahawks fans should be excited about Kenneth Walker III

Breaking down what Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III brings to the Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks used their first two picks in the 2022 NFL draft to fill their biggest needs on both sides of the ball (outside of quarterback), but they threw their customary curveball with the second of their back-to-back picks in the early second round.

At No. 40 overall, the Seahawks selected Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III, adding yet another dynamic runner to their offensive backfield.

While the Seahawks certainly had more pressing needs elsewhere, it’s easy to see why Walker was high on their draft board. One of the top running back prospects in this year’s class, Walker has all the traits to be a Pro Bowler at the next level.

Walker is coming off a dominant 2021 season for the Spartans, during which he racked up 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. It was Walker’s first year as a full-time starter and featured back, following two seasons as a rotational runner at Wake Forest.

A well-built runner who excels between the tackles, Walker has a stellar combination of vision, patience and instincts, to go along with ideal physicality, pad level and awareness. He’s explosive enough to break off big runs, giving the Seahawks a potential home-run threat in the backfield.

With Chris Carson’s status still unclear, and Rashaad Penny only back on a one-year deal, Walker could quickly establish himself as Seattle’s featured back of the future.

Why Seahawks fans should be excited about Boye Mafe

Breaking down what Minnesota edge defender Boye Mafe brings to the Seattle Seahawks

It’s been too long since the Seattle Seahawks had a consistent, dominant pass rusher off the edge, and that’s what they’re hoping they landed with second-round pick Boye Mafe.

The No. 40 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Mafe heads to Seattle after backing up his impressive film at Minnesota with a stellar performance at this year’s Senior Bowl. Even among some of the top prospects in the class, Mafe stood out in practice all week while in Mobile, and punctuated it by being one of the best players on the field during the all-star game itself.

In 2021, Mafe’s first year as a full-time starter for the Golden Gophers, he tallied 10 tackles for loss and seven sacks in 12 games. He finished his four-year career at Minnesota with 19.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks.

Mafe is a stout, well-built defender who can set the edge against the run, but excels when it comes to getting after the quarterback, thanks to his ideal combination of athleticism, explosiveness, and pass-rushing technique.

On a defense desperate for an impact player at such a premium position, Mafe should quickly earn a full-time starting job as a rookie, and could finally give the Seahawks an edge rusher who will strike fear into the hearts of opposing offenses.

Traditionally and statistically, Day 3 of the NFL Draft is a total wasteland. You’re far, far better packaging your picks to move up into the top three rounds of a future draft – the odds of getting a consistently decent starter are shockingly small.

But every team thinks it can make magic out of the Day 3 mess of prospects, and it’s worth a shot to dumb-luck into a possible mainstay. What are the remaining needs that need to be filled for each team? Here are every team’s picks so far with the possibilities of who they could get.

Of course this all blows up once the trades start flying, but the idea is to give a rough snapshot of what each team might be able to do.
