Four-star Dorian Jones has locked-in an official visit to Rutgers in April

Dorian Jones is set to visit Rutgers basketball in April.

Dorian Jones, one of the top guards in the 2025 recruiting class, is set to take an official visit to Rutgers this spring.

The Rutgers visit was first reported by 24/7 High School Hoops. The social media news outlet says that Rutgers will get a three-day official visit from Jones on the weekend of April 12.

Missouri is scheduled to get a visit the following week.

Jones re-tweeted the report from 24/7 Hoops (which is not affiliated with 247Sports).

A four-star guard out of Richmond Heights (Cleveland, Ohio), Jones is ranked the No. 38 player in the nation according to 247Sports.

He holds offers that include Arizona State, Cincinnati, Dayton, Ohio State, Miami and Syracuse among others.

The 6-foot-4 guard is a talented player who is a strong perimeter shooter. He also has an ability to get the basket with a certain level of fearlessness.

Rutgers basketball: What is the updated outlook from ESPN to close out the Big Ten season?

ESPN has updated projections for Rutgers basketball’s final two Big Ten games of the regular season.

A loss on Sunday night at Nebraska might just be the end to any realistic dreams of Rutgers basketball making the NCAA Tournament. According to ESPN Analytics, Rutgers isn’t likely to sweep the final two games of the regular season.

All of which means that anything short of making a run to the Big Ten Tournament’s title game, and Rutgers is likely on the outside looking in come March Madness

The loss comes after Rutgers thoroughly dominated Michigan in a blowout performance. Rutgers is now 15-14 (7-11 Big Ten) on the season.

The breakdown from ESPN has Rutgers splitting their final two Big Ten regular season games:

Now, the postseason isn’t necessarily out of the question for Rutgers, who made the NIT last year. The Scarlet Knights would need to split their final two Big Ten regular season games and win twice in the Big Ten Tournament.

[lawrence-related id=35874,35882,35854]

If that happens, they could be an attractive option for the NIT.

As things stand right now, Rutgers is not projected to make the tournament according to NIT Bracketology.

Four Big Ten teams, including Ohio State, are projected to make the NIT, which makes the regular season finale a vitally important one for Rutgers.

Rutgers men’s basketball unable to recover from slow start in loss to Nebraska

Rutgers men’s basketball lost on Sunday at Nebraska.

A slow start doomed Rutgers in a 67-56 loss at Nebraska on Sunday evening.

With the loss, Rutgers basketball is now  15-14 (7-11 Big Ten). Their path to return to the NCAA Tournament is now increasingly narrow.

In the first half, Nebraska outscored Rutgers 37-25. They were led by Keisei Tominaga, who scored 18 points and added two offensive rebounds to his resume. He got some help from Juwan Gary, who scored 15 points. As Rutgers had no answer for the talented duo, Nebraska scored 22 points in the paint.

While Rutgers made things close in the second half, their early deficit proved too much to overcome. However, there were a few bright spots in Jeremiah Williams and Gavin Griffiths. Williams led the team in scoring with 14 points. Griffiths had his best game in weeks, adding 10 points to his resume.

Although Nebraska had success in the paint, that was not the only way they built a lead. The Cornhuskers also made the most of their opportunities from three-point range, shooting 33.3 percent.

[lawrence-related id=35864,35849]

With only two games left in the season, Rutgers will shift its focus to Wisconsin. They are set to take on the Badgers on March 7. That matchup will be a good test for a Rutgers team that has struggled on the road. They are 3-8 away from Jersey Mike’s Arena.

Rutgers men’s basketball looking to open March with win over Nebraska

Rutgers men’s basketball has a must-win game on Sunday at Nebraska if they want to make the postseason.

After ending February with a win over Michigan, Rutgers men’s basketball is back in action on Sunday afternoon. Rutgers will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, to take on the Cornhuskers. Entering this matchup, Rutgers has won twice in their last five games.

And if they want to make the postseason, this is a must-win game.

As Rutgers looks to build on their success, they will have their hands full. The Cornhuskers are 4-1 in their last five games, with their only loss coming against Ohio State. They are also 10-8 in conference play.

For Rutgers to emerge with a win, they must limit Keisei Tominaga’s impact. The talented guard has been Nebraska’s best player offensively, averaging a team-high 13.9 points per game. Against Ohio State on Thursday, he scored nine points and added five rebounds to his resume.

While Nebraska has been the better team, they will be tasked with stopping Clifford Omoruyi. In Rutgers latest win over Michigan, the center scored 19 points and added 15 rebounds to his resume. Rutgers is a tough team to face when he is making an impact at both ends of the court.

This matchup also represents a great opportunity to improve their road record. Through 28 games, they have gone 3-7 away from Jersey Mike’s Arena. A win over Nebraska on their home court would be an impressive accomplishment for a Rutgers team with plenty to prove.

Highlights: Rutgers basketball commit Ace Bailey scores 32 points as McEachern advances to the Georgia state title game

Ace Bailey is dominant once again for McEachern.

It was a performance worthy of a five-star forward, which Rutgers basketball commit Ace Bailey happens to be. Bailey scored 32 points on Saturday afternoon to propel his team to the Georgia state title game.

Bailey’s 32 points and 15 rebounds pushed McEachern (Powder Springs, Georgia) to a 63-56 win over Wheeler (Marietta, Georgia)  in the Georgia AAAAAAA semifinals.

Bailey has been sensational in the playoffs in what will be his last dance before joining Rutgers this summer. Recently named the No. 1 player in the nation by USA TODAY High School Sports, has shown every facet of his game during the postseason.

Not only can he play above the rim, his consistent range and ability to create his own shot continue to be impressive.

Rutgers men’s basketball finishes February with win over Michigan

Rutgers basketball got a needed win on Thursday night.

The three-game losing streak is over for Rutgers men’s basketball who rolled out to an impressive 82-52 win over Michigan on Thursday night. It was the second time in February that they beat the Wolverines.

With the win, Rutgers is now 15-13 (7-10 Big Ten).

As Rutgers got back in the win column, they were led by Clifford Omoruyi. The talented center scored 19 points and added 15 points to his resume. He also got some help from Jeremiah Williams, who had one of his best games of the season, scoring 19 points.

After struggling over the past week, Rutgers got back in the win column because of their ability to dominate close to the basket. They scored 48 points in the paint and only allowed 18. That allowed them to build an early lead they would not relinquish.

Michigan didn’t do much right in the game but there were a few bright spots for the Wolverines. That includes Dug McDaniel, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four assists.

[lawrence-related id=35785,35780]

With only three games left in the regular season, Rutgers will look to carry their success into March. Their remaining games are against Nebraska, Wisconsin and Ohio State. That stretch represents a great opportunity for Rutgers to improve their conference record.

What are the ESPN projections for Rutgers basketball following their Big Ten win over Michigan?

ESPN Analytics projects the final three games of the Big Ten season for Rutgers.

Rutgers basketball got back on the winning track on Thursday night, putting together a thorough and complete performance with a Big Ten win against Michigan.

The win, in addition to snapping a three-game losing streak, certainly has postseason implications as well. Rutgers is now 15-13 (7-10 Big Ten) following their impressive 82-52 win over Michigan.

It keeps their slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive.

To get back into the NCAA Tournament, Rutgers is going to have to sweep their remaining three Big Ten regular season games. On top of that, they would likely need at minimum on win in the Big Ten Tournament.

(In all likelihood, they would need their final three Big Ten regular season games and two conference tournament wins to pad their NCAA Tournament resume).

But first things first, Rutgers needs three wins from their final three Big Ten regular season games.

[lawrence-related id=35780,35774]

ESPN’s outlook for Rutgers getting those three wins is not encouraging, even after Thursday’s dominating performance against Michigan. ESPN Analytics favors Rutgers in just one of their three remaining games:

Two wins might be enough, however, to get Rutgers basketball into the NIT for a second straight year. Given the rebuild of the roster from a season ago, it certainly would be a big accomplishment for the Scarlet Knights to simply be back in the postseason.

Rutgers basketball recruiting: Jaylen Harrell posts his top six

Jaylen Harrell cuts down to a top six.

One of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class, Jaylen Harrell, rolled out his top six this week. And the cutdown of Harrell’s list is good news for Rutgers basketball.

Harrell is a four-star forward. Rivals ranks him as the No. 91 player in the nation. He plays for CATS Academy (Braintree, Massachusetts).

ESPN ranks Harrell the No. 23 small forward in the nation. He has a top six of Rutgers, Wake Forest, Alabama, Virginia Tech, Xavier and Providence.

Georgetown, UMass and Washington were among the teams that didn’t make the cut. The top six announcement was made by Harrell on Thursday via a social media post:

For Rutgers, there is a lot of momentum on the recruiting front. The class of 2024 is ranked third in the nation by Rivals. It features two players ranked as five-star recruits in guard Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey.

[lawrence-related id=35766,35761,35751]

In the class is three-star forward Bryce Dortch from Brimmer & May (Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts).

He is the No. 41 small forward in the nation by Rivals and the seventh-best recruit in Massachusetts in the 2024 class by ESPN.

Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper are set to play in ‘The Throne’ at the Meadowlands

Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper will play in a high school basketball tournament at the Meadowlands.

The Meadowlands, long known as one of the premier venues in the nation for college basketball, will be the final stop this spring for some of the nation’s top high school basketball players before they head to college. Two elite Rutgers basketball commits are expected to play in ‘The Throne’ in late March at the American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

A shopping and entertainment destination, the American Dream will be the venue for a tournament that will feature a 16-team boys bracket and eight teams on the girls side.

The lineup for ‘The Throne’ was announced on Thursday, with several of the nation’s top teams scheduled to compete. Included in the line-up will be some strong Rutgers connections.

Five-star guard Dylan Harper (Don Bosco Prep; Ramsey, New Jersey) and five-star forward Ace Bailey (McEachern; Powder Springs, Georgia) are both scheduled to play with their high school teams at ‘The Throne.’

Bailey was recently named the top player in the nation by USA TODAY High School Sports.

Rutgers men’s basketball struggles offensively in loss to Maryland

Rutgers basketball had a bad loss on Sunday against Maryland.

On Sunday afternoon, Rutgers men’s basketball welcomed the Maryland Terrapins to Jersey Mike’s Arena and struggled offensively. In the second matchup of the season between these two programs, the Terrapins recorded a 63-46 win.

With the loss, Rutgers is now 14-13 (6-10 Big Ten).

As Maryland was able to get their revenge, Julian Reese set the tone offensively. The Baltimore native added 20 points and six rebounds to his resume. He got some help from Jahmir Young, who scored 12 points and dished out nine assists.

While Rutgers had thrived at home entering this matchup, they could not make clutch shots when needed. The Scarlet Knights only scored seven points in the final seven minutes of play. Maryland also had a knack for going on extended scoring runs whenever Rutgers made it close.

Although Sunday ended in disappointing fashion for Rutgers, there were a few bright spots. That includes Aundre Hyatt, who scored 13 points while adding three rebounds to his resume. He was the only Rutgers player who scored more than ten points.

With only one game left in February, Rutgers will need to play a lot better against Michigan. The Wolverines have struggled this year, but they will be motivated to add another conference win to their resume. Struggling to put the ball in the basket like they did against Maryland could be fatal.

Rutgers will welcome the Wolverines to Jersey Mike’s Arena on February 29.
