Tennessee offers 2022 Las Vegas DB Zion Branch

Tennessee offers 2022 Las Vegas DB Zion Branch.

Tennessee has gone to the desert in search of players for the 2022 recruiting class, as the Vols offered Las Vegas native and 3-star safety Zion Branch.

Branch is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety who has drawn significant interest from Pac-12 schools in his area as well as other Power 5 schools around the country. Arizona, Arizona State, USC, UCLA and Cal are some of the West Coast teams to offer Branch. Auburn, Michigan, Georgia, Texas and several others have also offered the rising junior at Bishop Gorman High School.

Branch is rated a 3-star by 247Sports and the No. 3 safety in his class, as well as the No. 3 player in Nevada.

Tennessee does not yet have any players committed to the 2022 recruiting class.

Tennessee in top 8 for Georgia athlete Nathaniel Wiggins

Tennessee in top 8 for Georgia athlete Nathaniel Wiggins.

Tennessee has seen significant success in Georgia during the 2021 recruiting cycle, most recently securing a commitment from 4-star running back Cody Brown.

The Vols could continue that success with the recruitment of 4-star athlete Nathaniel Wiggins, who included Tennessee in his final eight schools.

Tennessee joins Florida, Alabama, LSU, Texas, Clemson, USC and Oregon as finalists for the Atlanta native.

Wiggins rates as the No. 11 athlete in the country on the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 19 player in Georgia. A 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver and defensive back prospect, Wiggins has the athleticism and ball skills to play either position in college.

Tennessee’s 2021 class currently sits at No. 2 in the country according to the 247Sports rankings.

Notre Dame Offers ’21 Texas RB

The Irish go out to the Lone Star State and offer a running back in the 2021 class.

Although the Irish missed out on North Carolina star RB Will Shipley yesterday, there are still plenty of big fish out there  for Brian Kelly to reel in. You can add a new name to the pool of ‘backs the Irish are after in Texas’ Alton McCaskill.

The 6’1” and 195-pound tailback from Oak Ridge High School has recently seen his recruitment blow up. In April McCaskill added offers from Florida State, Arkansas, Penn State, Virginia, Auburn, Michigan, USC and others. It shouldn’t be seen as a coincidence that after McCaskill ran a 10.91 100-meter dash that the offers started to pour in.

Speed kills and McCaskill has plenty of it as his highlight reel shows. The burst is elite, he shows good hands out of the backfield and isn’t afraid to run between the tackles. McCaskill is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the 35th best back in the country and 515th overall prospect in the nation. His production last year is most likely why his rating is so low currently, just 845 yards on 121 carries (6.9 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns.

I love this offer to McCaskill, getting players from talent rich states like Texas, California and Florida always seem to be ready to contribute earlier over other states players. The Irish staff need to go hard after running backs after missing out on Shipley and offering McCaskill is a step in the right direction.

The Michigan State Football social media team has really outdone themselves this offseason. Over the last few months, they have been peppering top recruits with a barrage of awesome recruiting graphics that, in my biased opinion, are among the coolest I have seen nation-wide.

While these graphics are pretty much all fire, we had a lot of fun ranking them:

Ohio State misses out on No. 1 all-purpose back for 2021, commits to Clemson

Ohio State had offered the country’s No. 1 all-purpose running back in the class of 2021, Will Shipley, however, he committed to Clemson.

The Ohio State football team had offered the country’s No. 1 all-purpose running back for 2021 according to 247Sports, Will Shipley; however, he committed to Clemson Tuesday.

It’s a shame Ohio State wasn’t able to get the top player in the state of North Carolina. At the same time, their inbound class in 2021 is stacked full of talent at the running back position anyway.

Shipley was no doubt still a target for the scarlet and grey. He was recruited by Kevin Wilson and Brian Hartline after settling for Dabo Sweeney and the Clemson Tigers, an Ohio State rival as of late — especially on the recruiting trail.

“Clemson is just the place for me. It was the people that make it up, the culture of the locker room, the atmosphere, the game-day experience. There are so many things that went into it for me but when looking at the big picture I just didn’t see a place that really showed my family and I better,” Shipley said according to Rivals.com’s Adam Friedman.

Shipley, who announced his decision on Twitter, was projected to choose Clemson anyway. Close to home, Shipley will step into the spotlight at one of the nation’s premier programs.

While the Buckeyes could’ve used Shipley, they’ll be welcoming TreVeyon Henderson in 2021, the Class of 2021’s No. 1 running back. The beat will still go on in Columbus.

MSU Basketball reaches out to Arizona State grad transfer Romello White

Michigan State has reportedly been in touch with former 4-star recruit Romello White of ASU who recently entered the transfer portal.

[jwplayer cwRwWfAA]

On Sunday night, another big-time transfer entered the college basketball grad transfer pool in Arizona State’s Romello White. According to a report from college basketball analyst Jeff Goodman, White has heard from a number of schools interested in his services, including Michigan State.

White is a former 4-star recruit for the Sun Devils who, at 6’8″ and 235 pounds, can play either big man position. He is currently projected to transfer to Vanderbilt by 247sports, which is interesting because they are not included in the list below.

Here is Goodman’s report:

White averaged 10.2 points and 8.8 rebounds while playing 28.5 minutes-per-game last season. He actually had his best scoring season as a college player as a freshman for ASU where he scored 10.5 points-per-game.

For MSU, there is uncertainty at the Center/Power Forward position as Xavier Tillman Sr. continues to ponder his NBA Draft status. While the team will look to incoming 4-star recruit Mady Sissoko and transfer Joey Hauser to fill much of that production, if Tillman does leave then a veteran addition like White would be a welcome addition.

Riley becomes the 8th commit in the 2021 class and the second member of the secondary with safety Justin Walters.
