Vikings sign a WR to the practice squad

The Vikings now have three wide receivers on the practice squad

The Minnesota Vikings added a player to the practice squad by signing wide receiver Daylen Baldwin to the practice squad.

The initial thought is that Trishton Jackson would be signed to the practice squad, but he hasn’t cleared waivers yet and there is still room for one more.

Baldwin went undrafted out of Michigan in the 2022 NFL draft and signed with the Cleveland Browns. He played in one game for the Browns and caught two passes for 25 yards.

He spent time at Morgan State and Jackson State before his one season at Michigan in 2021. Baldwin wasn’t productive in those 14 games, catching 17 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns.

The Vikings now have three wide receivers on the practice squad.

Vikings make 5 roster moves, distictions for Week 11 vs. Broncos

The Vikings made several moves, including elevating Anthony Barr

The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday night in the Mile High City.

The final injury report left the Vikings with a lot of questions on who would be playing on Sunday night. On Saturday, the Vikings made five different roster moves and distinctions. Here are the moves the Vikings made ahead of Sunday.

Vikings 53-man roster, elevation-eligible players vs Broncos in Week 11

The 53-man roster and practice squad saw multiple changes this week

The Minnesota Vikings are set to play in their third primetime game of the season when they face the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.

The last time the Vikings faced off against the Broncos, they came down from a 20-0 deficit and beat the Broncos 27-23 with a goal-line stand. The last time the two teams played in Denver, it was the Stefon Diggs breakout party, but Peyton Manning outdueled Teddy Bridgewater for a 23-20 victory.

Both of these teams are riding winning streaks with the Vikings having won five-straight and the Broncos winning three-straight.

The Vikings made multiple roster moves throughout the week which will impact Sunday’s game.

Vikings make move on practice squad

The Vikings fortified the pass rush after losing Vilain to the practice squad

The Minnesota Vikings announced they have signed OLB Quincy Roche to the practice squad. The move comes one day after OLB Luiji Vilain signed with the Carolina Panthers off of the Vikings practice squad.

Roche was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round (216th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. They released him shortly afterward and he spent the next two seasons with the New York Giants.

In playing 17 games with the Giants, Roche recorded 36 tackles, including five for loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

With Marcus Davenport on injured reserve, adding an edge rusher for depth was important.

Vikings bring back WR to practice squad

The Vikings brought back Jackson who they have been developing for multiple years

The Minnesota Vikings waived wide receiver Trishton Jackson from the active roster on Tuesday. One day later on Wednesday, the Vikings signed him back to the practice squad.

Jackson was signed to the active roster ahead on Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears due to Justin Jefferson being placed on injured reserve. He played four offensive snaps against the Bears but N’Keal Harry, who only played one snap, stayed on the active roster. That is likely due to Harry’s experience in the NFL.

Bringing back Jackson onto the practice squad was likely the plan. He has played well when the Vikings have asked him to.

Vikings waive local product from practice squad

The Vikings waived the security for Nick Mullens on Tuesday

The Minnesota Vikings made a roster move on Tuesday afternoon, but it wasn’t one we were expecting. The team announced that the Vikings have waived quarterback Tanner Morgan from the practice squad.

Everyone was expecting the Vikings to officially place wide receiver Justin Jefferson on injured reserve but that move is still expected.

With Nick Mullens nursing a back injury, the Vikings signed Morgan to the practice squad as extra insurance. He wasn’t used and they moved on from him in short order.

Having started for the majority of five seasons for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Morgan went undrafted and spent training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If Mullens is placed on injured reserve as was alluded to by O’Connell, Morgan could end up back with the Vikings.

Vikings sign local QB to practice squad

The local product is back in the twin cities

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Minnesota Vikings have signed former University of Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan to the practice squad.

This move likely comes after quarterback Nick Mullens appeared on the injury report with a back injury. He was limited on Wednesday during practice and this seems to be a procedural move.

Morgan was a four-plus-year starter for the Golden Gophers and saw mixed results. The 2019 saw Morgan lead the Golden Gophers to an 11-2 record, the best in program history. However, the success wasn’t sustained, as Morgan never reached the heights of that 2019 season.

He went undrafted this past year, but was the eighth overall pick in the USFL draft. At the University of Minnesota, Morgan completed 62.2% of his passes for 9,464 yards, 65 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.

Vikings lose CB from practice squad to Bears

The Vikings practice squad took a hit on Wednesday

The Minnesota Vikings had the first player taken off their practice squad on Wednesday. According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, the Chicago Bears have signed cornerback Joejuan Williams off of the Vikings practice squad to their active roster.

The Bears have issues right now at cornerback with Kyler Gordon on injured reserve with a broken hand and both Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson are banged up.

Williams heads to Chicago to play in a defense that will ask him to play both press-man coverage and drop cover-2, both of which he is more than capable of doing. He played well for the Vikings during the preseason and was viewed as a solid asset on the practice squad.

The Vikings replaced him on the practice squad with Myles Gaskin.

Vikings elevate WR from practice squad for Sunday’s game

The Vikings elevated him to replace Jalen Nailor as a punt gunner

Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Minnesota Vikings elevated wide receiver Trishton Jackson from the practice squad. The move was expected after the Vikings placed wide receiver Jalen Nailor on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Nailor was a punt gunner for the Vikings on special teams and contributed on other special teams units. Jackson looks to fill that role for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

It isn’t likely that we see Jackson make an appearance on offense, but him getting in the game is a positive step forward.

The Vikings will have their inactive list announced at 10:30 am central time, 90 minutes before kickoff.

Vikings make two roster moves

After two procedural moves last Friday, the Vikings brought both players back

After a procedural move last week, the Minnesota Vikings have signed running back Myles Gaskin to the active roster and signed wide receiver Lucky Jackson to the practice squad.

This was expected to happen as the Vikings only released Gaskin to not fully guarantee his salary for the 2023 season. That would signal that his time with the team is going to end once running back Kene Nwangwu is set to return from injury as early as week five.

Bringing Jackson back to the practice squad was always likely in the same way that Gaskin was always going to come back. Jackson provides an intriguing developmental option for the Vikings, as he excelled with the D.C. Defenders in the spring XFL season.

The Vikings 53-man roster is once against complete.
