Bears request to interview Bucs’ Todd Bowles for head coach vacancy

The Bears have requested to interview Bucs DC Todd Bowles for their head coach job.

The Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Nagy after four seasons, which finds them searching for their 17th head coach in franchise history.

Bears Chairman George McCaskey will head the search for a new head coach and GM, alongside President/CEO Ted Phillips and Hall of Fame executive Bill Polian.

All eyes are on Chicago and their head coach search, where McCaskey said they won’t necessarily look for an offensive or defensive guy. They’re looking for the best guy and leader for the job.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears have requested to interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles for their head coaching vacancy.

Bowles boasts more than 20 years of NFL coaching experience, which includes previously serving as the New York Jets head coach from 2015-18. While that didn’t wind up being a success, that’s not to say he can’t find success in his next stop. Bowles is someone with past coaching experience and with a defensive background, which would make finding a top offensive coordinator to develop quarterback Justin Fields and get this Bears offense on track a top priority.

The Bears have also requested interviews with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

Here’s a look at the complete list of head coach and GM candidates the Bears have requested to interview:

Bears request interview with Packers’ Nathaniel Hackett for head coach job

The Bears have requested to interview Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett for their head coaching vacancy.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bears have requested to interview Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett for their head coaching vacancy.

Hackett has served as the offensive coordinator for the Packers, Jaguars and Bills. He’s been with Green Bay as offensive coordinator since 2019, where he’s helped lead the Packers’ high-powered offense. Having worked with Aaron Rodgers, he’s someone who could be good for quarterback Justin Fields.

The Bears have also requested interviews with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

Here’s a look at the complete list of head coach and GM candidates the Bears have requested to interview:

Bears request to interview Bills OC Brian Daboll for head coach job

The Bears have requested to interview Bills OC Brian Daboll for their head coaching vacancy.

The Chicago Bears have wasted no time setting up interviews with candidates for their vacant general manager and head coach positions after firing Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears have requested to interview Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll for their head coaching vacancy.

Daboll has worked in the NFL since 2000, where he’s served as offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns (2009-10), Miami Dolphins (2011), Kansa sCity Chiefs (2012) and now the Buffalo Bills (2018-present). He also served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2017.

While the Bears aren’t looking just for an offensive guru, if Daboll proves he’s best for the job, it wouldn’t hurt to have someone who’s developed a young quarterback. Chicago hopes Justin Fields is the future of the franchise, and perhaps someone like Daboll can get him there.

The Bears have also requested to interview former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

Bears request to interview Browns’ Glenn Cook for GM vacancy

The Bears are looking to interview Browns VP of Player Personnel Glenn Cook, who has been a top talent evaluator for Cleveland.

The Chicago Bears have been busy Monday, firing both head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace and starting their searches for a new head coach and GM.

Chairman George McCaskey, President/CEO Ted Phillips and Hall of Fame executive Bill Polian will be conducting the GM search for the Bears, where they’ve already started lining up interviews.

According to ESPN’s Kimberley Martin, the Bears have requested an interview with Browns VP of Player Personnel Glenn Cook, who has been a top talent evaluator for Cleveland.

Cook served as the Browns’ Assistant Director of Pro Scouting from 2016-19 before being promoted to VP of Player Personnel. Cook also spent time with the Green Bay Packers as a pro scout from 2012-15.

Cook is the third GM candidate that the Bears have requested to interview, joining Indianapolis Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown and Browns VP of Football Operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

Bears request to interview Browns’ Kwesi Adofo-Mensah for GM job

The Bears have put in a request to interview Browns VP of Football Operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah for their GM vacancy.

The Chicago Bears parted ways with head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on Monday, which means their search for a new head coach and GM has just started.

Chairman George McCaskey said they would prefer to hire a GM first. But if they find a head coaching candidate they want, they’ll make the hire. McCaskey, President/CEO Ted Phillips and Hall of Fame executive Bill Polian will be conducting the GM search.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bears have requested to interview Browns VP of Football Operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah for their GM vacancy.

Adofo-Mensah, a graduate from Princeton, was the director of football research in San Francisco before serving as the Browns’ VP of Football Operations. Even during his short tenure, he’s garnered attention as a GM candidate. Adofo-Mensah interviewed for the Carolina Panthers GM opening last season.

Chicago has also requested to interview Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown for their GM opening, and he’s believed to be a “strong” candidate.

Bears plan to interview Doug Pederson for head coaching job

The Bears are expected to interview former Eagles HC Doug Pederson for their coaching vacancy.

The Chicago Bears cleaned house by firing head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on Monday, which has opened up two important jobs within the Bears front office.

While Chicago’s aim is to hire a GM before a head coach, they’re wasting no time setting up interviews for prospective head coaches. The Bears have already requested to interview Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier for their coaching vacancy, but there’s an interesting name to add to the list.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bears are expected to interview former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson for their head coaching job.

Pederson, who won the Super Bowl with Philadelphia in 2017, is also a candidate for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ vacancy.

Pederson has a decade-plus of coaching experience and is famously from the Andy Reid coaching tree. Reid actually was a guest of Nagy’s this past training camp, where he spent some time with quarterback Justin Fields. While Nagy didn’t pan out, Pederson did lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl championship.

While Carson Wentz hasn’t exactly panned out, he was solid under Pederson’s direction, for the most part. That should work in Pederson’s favor, as you figure a big part of a candidate’s pitch will be how to develop Fields.

Most embarrassing moments from Bears Chairman George McCaskey’s press conference

From insulting Olin Kreutz to George McCaskey’s mom being ‘very, very disappointed,’ the most embarrassing moments from McCaskey’s presser.

The Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on Monday morning, which left Bears fans feeling uncharacteristically hopeful that things might actually change.

But much like Nagy’s second-half collapses, Monday went from great to hopeless once Chairman George McCaskey took center stage later that afternoon.

McCaskey met the Chicago media for roughly an hour, where he addressed everything from Nagy and Pace’s firings to the search efforts for a new head coach and GM. But with McCaskey, even a routine end-of-year press conference always seems to develop into an absolute disaster.

While many didn’t think it could get worse than last year’s press conference, it’s right up there with it.

Here’s a look at some of the most embarrassing moments from McCaskey (and Phillips) during their press conference:

Bears request to interview Colts’ Morocco Brown for GM job

The Bears have put in a request to interview Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown for their GM vacancy.

The Chicago Bears fired general manager Ryan Pace after seven seasons on Monday, which leaves a gaping hole to fill in the front office.

Bears Chairman George McCaskey said the organization is going to conduct a “thorough, diligent and exhausted” search for a new GM and head coach, as Matt Nagy was also fired.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears have put in a request to interview Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown for their GM opening.

That lines up with what NBC Sports Chicago’s Adam Hoge reported, which is that Brown was a “strong” candidate for the vacant GM position.

Brown makes a ton of sense for the Bears as he spent seven years with the organization as their assistant director of pro personnel from 2001-07. He’s served as the right-hand man to Colts GM Chris Ballard, where he’s been a big part of the success that Indianapolis has had in the NFL draft.

Brown interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ GM job last year. He’s considered one of the top GM candidates around the NFL this cycle.

Bill Polian will assist Bears as they begin GM, head coaching search

Remember the guy who thought Lamar Jackson should be converted to a WR? He’s now helping the Bears find their next head coach and GM.

The Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on Monday, which left Bears fans with some hope that perhaps things might actually change for the better.

Unfortunately, that didn’t last.

Remember the guy who thought Lamar Jackson should be converted to a wide receiver? He’s now in charge with spearheading the search for Chicago’s next head coach and GM.

Bears Chairman George McCaskey announced that Hall of Fame executive Bill Polian will help him conduct the search for the team’s next head coach and GM.

And, yes, President/CEO Ted Phillips will also be part of those searches, although he is no longer in charge of football operations.

There’s an eerie sense of deja vu as this situation is reminiscent of 2015, when the Bears consulted Ernie Acorsi to help in their head coach and GM search after firing Marc Trestman and Phil Emery. That searched ended with Pace and John Fox, and we saw how well that went.

Bears request to interview Bills DC Leslie Frazier for head coaching job

The Bears have requested to interview their first head coaching candidate: Bills DC and former ’85 Bear Leslie Frazier.

The Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace, which leaves them with an important task of finding their successors.

Chairman George McCaskey addressed the media Monday afternoon, where he said that the head coach and GM searches will be conducted simultaneously. While they’d like to hire a GM first, if there’s a head coach they want to lock down, they won’t hesitate to bring them in first.

The Bears have started their head coaching search, where they’ve already requested an interview with a familiar face. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, Chicago has requested to interview Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier for their head coaching vacancy.

This is in line with what’s been reported leading up to Nagy’s firing, as several noted Frazier as a potential candidate to interview for the job.

Frazier boasts over 20 years of NFL coaching experience, including serving as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2011-13. He’s served as a defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals (2003-04), Vikings (2007-10), Buccaneers (2014-15) and now Bills (2017-21).

While the most important thing is to hire the guy who can best run the team, there’s an obvious franchise connection as Frazier played his entire NFL career with the Bears (1981-85), and was a member of the legendary ’85 Bears, which is exactly the kind of thing that would dazzle McCaskey.
