Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Las Vegas Raiders Hall of Fame Game odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Las Vegas Raiders odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders get the 2022 NFL preseason started Thursday with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (NBC) at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Jaguars vs. Raiders odds, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Jaguars come into this game with Doug Pederson calling the shots as their new coach. They have already announced both former No. 1 overall pick QB Trevor Lawrence and 2nd-year RB Travis Etienne will not be playing. Expect a healthy dose of QB Jake Luton as the starting signal-caller.

By supplying Lawrence with weapons and improving defensively, the Jags broke the NFL’s free agency spending record as they look to build upon their 3-14 record in 2021.

The Raiders made a big offseason move as they brought in WR Davante Adams. Giving QB Derek Carr a top-3 receiver is expected to pay off immediately. Adams and TE Darren Waller will wreak havoc on opposing defenses.

Las Vegas also has a new coach taking the field in former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. The Raiders have QB Jarrett Stidham and QB Nick Mullens on the depth chart behind Carr. While the starters status is unknown for Thursday, it’s likely we’ll see much more of Stidham and Mullens even if Carr does suit up.

Jaguars vs. Raiders picks and predictions

Prediction

Jaguars 17, Raiders 14

Money line

BET JAGUARS (+110).

Jacksonville isn’t bringing the heat with Lawrence and Etienne on the sidelines and RB James Robinson not expected to suit up. However, the Jags have a long list of receiving threats, including backup TE Dan Arnold. WR Laviska Shenault Jr. is the current 4th-string receiver and is still a capable deep threat.

The 26-year-old Luton was 0-3 in the 2020 season with a 2-6 TD:INT ratio. The preseason should be easier for the former 6th-round pick. Luton is a huge 6-foot-6 and should be able to get his targets the ball.

The Raiders will give a healthy dose of snaps to Stidham and Mullens, both of whom haven’t been impressive in the NFL either. Las Vegas doesn’t have much depth at receiver or running back, the latter of which has RB Kenyan Drake, who has been injury prone and likely won’t play much.

Depth at key skill positions goes to Jacksonville, and given that, I’ll take the Jags to win outright in this one. After all, who doesn’t like betting on the underdog in the season’s first game?

Against the spread

PASS.

I don’t find much value in betting both the Jaguars money line and Jags +2.5 (-105). I’ll stick with my money line play with the better odds for this one.

PLAY: Free daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 30.5 (-110).

All 3 quarterbacks expected to receive a lot of snaps have NFL experience and shouldn’t be rattled by the speed of the game.

Luton has the better options, while Mullens will be the most experienced of the quarterbacks expected to get multiple series.

Two of the last 4 Hall of Fame Games have gone Over this number.

2022 Cleveland Browns’ win total, Super Bowl, conference and division odds

Analyzing 2022 NFL futures for the Cleveland Browns, including odds for win total, Super Bowl and division with expert picks.

[mm-video type=video id=01g9cts9wdtrkn9egw7n playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01g9cts9wdtrkn9egw7n/01g9cts9wdtrkn9egw7n-17ba86a0a4005f1a2d9ca8ea11ef987d.jpg]

The Cleveland Browns missed out on the playoffs a season ago, finishing 8-9. In the offseason they moved on from QB Baker Mayfield and traded for star QB Deshaun Watson, who received a 6-game suspension – announced Monday, Aug. 1 – for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. (The league has 3 days to appeal the decision).

Below, we look at the Cleveland Browns’ 2022 NFL futures odds – including win total, division, conference and Super Bowl odds at Tipico Sportsbook – with best bet suggestions among our NFL picks and predictions.

The Browns have never won the AFC North since the league went to 4 division in 2002. Their last division title came in 1989 when they were in the AFC Central. They’ve only been to the playoffs once in the last 19 years – 2 seasons ago as a wild card after an 11-5 campaign.

Cleveland Browns’ 2022 win total: Best bet

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday, Aug. 1 at 1:32 p.m. ET.

Over/Under: Off the board

Due to the Watson situation, this line is currently off the board (unavailable). For whatever amount of time he is suspended, look for QB Jacoby Brissett to handle snaps.

Brissett, the New England Patriots’ 3rd-round pick in 2016 is 14-23 as a starter. He went 1-1 with the Pats in 2016, 11-19 with the Indianapolis Colts between 2017-’20 and 2-3 with the Miami Dolphins last season. He has 36 passing touchdowns, 17 interceptions and 13 rushing TDs in his 60-game career.

Cleveland Browns’ 2022 Super Bowl odds

Odds: +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

Cleveland is tied with the 9th shortest odds to win it all. The Buffalo Bills (+600) are the favorites, followed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+700).

At +2000, Cleveland has an implied probability of winning the Super Bowl of 4.76% or 20/1 fractional odds.

The Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons have the longest odds at +20000 each.

BACKING THE BROWNS (+2000) to win the Super Bowl for a 20-to-1 payoff is worth a small wager.

Cleveland Browns’ 2022 playoff odds

Will Browns make the playoffs: Off the board

  • Prior to the Aug. 1 Watson decision: Yes +135 | No -170

There is too much talent in the AFC to go sub-.500 for the first half of the season and still have a chance.

However, the Browns have an incredibly easier schedule. Sharp Football has them 8th in the NFL. They could easily win their first 4 games even with Brissett leading the way.

Considering that, the Browns to make the playoffs at +135 seems like good value, but that’s not quite enough of a payout for me to love it. I’d certainly shy away from them to miss the postseason at -170.

Odds to win AFC North Division

  • Baltimore Ravens +162 (bet $100 to win $162)
  • Cincinnati Bengals +200 (bet $100 to win $200)
  • Cleveland Browns +240 (bet $100 to win $240)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +900 (bet $100 to win $900)

PASS. Cleveland’s implied probability of winning the AFC North is 29.41% or 12/6 fractional odds. The Bengals and Ravens are the only threats here, but there’s no fun in betting favorites in division futures, especially at these values.

Browns’ AFC North finishing position

First +260 | Second +230 | THIRD +200 | Fourth +450

The NFL’s possible appeal on Watson’s 6-game suspension is a huge factor, but betting the BROWNS TO FINISH 3RD (+200) in the AFC North has value now. Whatever the final decision, the Browns should still be worse than the Ravens and Bengals during the regular season.

There should be hope that even a Browns team with Brissett leading the way at QB is still better than Pittsburgh.

Cleveland has a strong line, a few game-changing defenders and a dominant running game. The Browns should be able to withstand some near-term issues. However, teams like Cincinnati and Baltimore will be too hot out of the gate.

At +200, a 3RD-PLACE FINISH for Cleveland is a good future bet.

Odds to win AFC

Odds: +1200 (bet $100 to win $1200)

PASS.

Betting on them to win the Super Bowl at +2000 and also to be worse than the Bengals and Ravens both seem smart as Watson’s final suspension decision should have little factor on those.

AVOID betting Cleveland in this position and look for better value in an easier conference like the AFC South.

On Site – NFL future bets: Who will win Super Bowl 57, MVP and ROY?

We analyze Tipico Sportsbook NFL future odds on Super Bowl 57 and who will wiin the regular-season MVP and Rookie of the Year awards.

While the NFL’s regular season doesn’t start until Sept. 8 (Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams), now is a great time to bet on NFL futures. Tipico Sportsbook is already accepting bets on Super Bowl winners, MVPs and more.

On Site host Tony Anderson is joined by BetFTW senior writer Prince J. Grimes to offer their best bets for who will win Super Bowl 57, the regular-season MVP and Rookies of the Year.

Along with suggesting a team that has odds of +600 to win the Super Bowl, Grimes likes an AFC quarterback “with outstanding value” to win the MVP and he tabs a New York Jets running back to claim the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

As for Defensive Rookie of the Year, Grimes predicts a New York Giants lineman to take home the award.

Anderson agrees with Grimes’ defensive rookie pick but differs in the other 3 categories. He likes a West Coast team with +1500 odds to raise the Lombardi Trophy – Feb. 12 in Glendale, Ariz. – a different AFC QB to win the MVP and an NFC receiver to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Value play: Bet Buffalo Bills’ Sean McDermott to win NFL Coach of the Year

Analyzing the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year award including an expert prediction and best bet.

The Buffalo Bills are my top-rated team entering the 2022 NFL season. Unfortunately, the market agrees with me and there isn’t a ton of value in their future prices.

Buffalo is the favorite to win the Super Bowl (+600), the AFC (+320), the AFC East (-200) and Bills QB Josh Allen is the favorite to win the 2022 NFL MVP (+700).

The most profitable way to cash in on the Bills reaching or exceeding expectations is for Sean McDermott to win 2022 NFL Coach of the Year (+3000).

Below, we look at the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year odds at Tipico Sportsbook – with the best bet suggestion among our NFL picks and predictions.

2022 NFL Coach of the Year odds

  • Brian Daboll, New York Giants (+1300)

  • Bill Belichick, New England Patriots (+2000)
  • Todd Bowles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2000)
  • Dan Campbell, Detroit Lions (+2000)
  • John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens (+2000)
  • Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers (+2000)

Buffalo Bills, Sean McDermott (+3000)

There are 19 NFL head coaches with shorter odds to win the Coach of the Year award and 6 other coaches tied with McDermott at +3000.

This is pretty much an “auto-bet” considering McDermott has never won the award and the Bills are the Super Bowl favorites, who will be in many high-profile games this season.

Six of the last 7 NFL Coach of the Year recipients have been on division-winning teams with the lone exception being Stefanski, who turned around a cursed Browns franchise in 2020.

If winning your division is a requirement for winning this award, then the Bills, being the 2nd-biggest favorites to win their respective division at -200 is a handicapping angle.

Also, the Bills are tied for the most primetime games (5), which include the NFL Kickoff game Sept. 8 against the defending Super Bowl champion Rams in Los Angeles. I like the Bills in Week 1 vs. the Rams; Buffalo can put the league on notice with a win in L.A. opening night.

McDermott is long overdue for this award. He arguably should have won it his rookie season (2017) when he got the Bills into the playoffs with former QB Tyrod Taylor under center.

Furthermore, McDermott could finally get the recognition he deserves this season if the Bills roll through their schedule because the Giants hired his important former offensive coordinator (Daboll) this offseason.

Allen has the ability to make Buffalo’s offense his own. There are enough productive quarterbacks in good schemes that could have a big year and that makes “Allen to win the 2022 NFL MVP (+650)” a no-go.

McDermott can earn a bulk of the credit for Buffalo’s success this upcoming season if his defense becomes more ferocious, and that’s in play. Buffalo signed pass rushers LB Von Miller and DE Shaq Lawson in the offseason and drafted first-round CB Kaiir Elam, adding to the best secondary in the NFL.

Finally, not only do the Bills have a bunch of high-profile games, but they also have an easy schedule. Buffalo is ranked 18th in strength of schedule by Sharp Football Analysis, which is slightly harder than the average, but the Bills have the best net rest edge in the NFL.

BET SEAN MCDERMOTT to win NFL COACH OF THE YEAR (+3000) all the way down to +1600.

2022 New York Giants’ win total, Super Bowl, conference and division odds

Analyzing 2022 NFL futures for the New York Giants, including odds for win total, Super Bowl and division with expert picks.

The New York Giants endured their 5th consecutive season of 6 or fewer wins in 2021. Coach Joe Judge was fired after the season and replaced by Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. New York enters 2022 hoping Daboll can unlock the full potential of QB Daniel Jones and get the team into playoff contention.

Below, we look at the New York Giants’ 2022 NFL futures odds – including win total, division, conference and Super Bowl odds at Tipico Sportsbook – with best bet suggestions among our NFL picks and predictions.

In addition to hiring Daboll, the Giants tabbed Joe Schoen as the new general manager. Schoen also comes from Buffalo, where he was the assistant GM. He replaces Dave Gettleman, who retired after the season.

In free agency, the Giants added veteran offensive linemen Jon FelicianoMax Garcia and Mark Glowinski. They signed QB Tyrod Taylor to be Jones’ backup and added RB Matt Breida and WR Richie James.

They did lose TE Evan Engram, OL Will Hernandez and S Jabril Peppers to free agency.

New York had 2 of the top 7 picks in the NFL Draft, selecting DE Kayvon Thibodeaux (Oregon) with the 5th overall pick and OL Evan Neal (Alabama) at No. 7. The Giants’ next pick was WR Wan’Dale Robinson (Kentucky) in the 2nd round.

New York Giants’ 2022 win total: Best bet

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday, May 26 at 8:56 p.m. ET.

Over/Under: 7.5 (O: +115 | U: -145)

The Giants have had more than 7 wins only once in the last 11 seasons when they were 11-5 in 2016.

They do play in a rather wide-open NFC East where the Cowboys are the favorite, but the Eagles and Commanders might be decent or might be bad.

They also have 5 very winnable games this season with matchups against the Texans, Jaguars, Seahawks, Lions and Panthers.

It will come down to Jones at quarterback. He has shown flashes he can be very good. He also has turned the ball over at an alarming rate in his career, although he did improve last season, fumbling 7 times and throwing only 7 interceptions in 11 games.

Even still, if the Giants split their division games and go 3-2 in those five “winnable” games, they would have to find 2 wins against presumed playoff contenders like the Titans, Vikings, Colts, Packers and Ravens.

That’s a tough task. I see the Giants as a 6-to-7 win team in 2022.

TAKE UNDER 7.5 (-145).

New York Giants’ 2022 Super Bowl odds

Odds: +10000 (bet $100 to win $10,000)

The Giants are tied with six other teams for the second-longest Super Bowl odds in the league. Only the Texans (+20000) have longer odds. The Bills (+600) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+750) are the favorites.

At +10000, New York has 0.99% implied odds of winning it all, or 100/1 fractional odds.

The Giants will probably be better than they were in 2021. But even if they don’t finish last in the NFC East, they probably aren’t yet a playoff team, which makes backing them, even with just a small wager unwise. PASS.

New York Giants’ 2022 playoff odds

Will Giants make the playoffs: Yes +200 | No -250

Jones is 12-25 as a starter in his three seasons. The Giants have not been a playoff team since 2016.

The NFC should feature a competitive wild-card race.

Are the Giants quite on the same level as teams like the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Vikings, Eagles or New Orleans Saints, who all enter the new season looking like better teams?

The Giants aren’t quite there, but the playoff drought could end because of Jones and if everything goes there way.

But I don’t see it. I’m not confident enough to back New York in making the playoffs, while betting them to not make the postseason doesn’t pay enough and isn’t any fun. PASS.

Odds to win NFC East Division

  • Dallas Cowboys +110 (bet $100 to win $110)
  • Philadelphia Eagles +190 (bet $100 to win $190)
  • Washington Commanders +500 (bet $100 to win $500)
  • New York Giants +750 (bet $100 to win $750)

New York’s implied probability of winning the NFC East is 11.76% or 15/2 fractional odds.

The Cowboys are primed to repeat as division champs, although the Eagles could push. The Giants are not yet on that level.

PASS on making any Giants wager here.

Odds to win NFC

Odds: +4000 (bet $100 to win $4,000)

The Giants have the same odds of winning the conference as the Panthers. Only 4 teams – Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Lions and Seahawks – have longer odds.

New York has only 2.44% implied odds of winning the conference.

As I don’t like them to make the playoffs at all, backing them to make it to the Super Bowl wouldn’t be a wise wager. PASS.
