New Orleans at Baylor odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New Orleans at Baylor odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The New Orleans Privateers (2-4) and Baylor Bears (4-2) clash in a pre-holiday matinee Wednesday in Waco. The opening tip from Foster Pavilion will be at 2 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the New Orleans vs. Baylor odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

New Orleans last played Friday, when it won 93-87 in an overtime tussle against favored-by-18 Tulane. The Privateers shot a season-best 50% from the floor, and they got a big 31-point, 8-rebound performance from G James White. UNO is playing its fifth straight game abroad in a stretch that has the squad away from its home hardwood of Kiefer Lakefront Arena for 11 in a row.

Baylor, which is No. 14 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, is coming off a Thursday loss to current-No. 9 Tennessee (77-62 as a 4½-point underdog) in the Baha Mar Championship in the Bahamas. The setback came after a double-overtime win over current-No. 20 St. John’s Wednesday. Prior to Thursday’s loss, the Bears had averaged 102.3 points per game over their previous 3 contests.

New Orleans at Baylor picks and predictions

Prediction

Baylor 90, New Orleans 61

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

New Orleans has twice in the last 3 seasons been an underdog of 30 points or more. And the Privateers earned ATS wins in both.

UNO is similar in talent level to a Tarleton State squad Baylor routed 104-41 Nov. 17. But the Bears went 15-for-32 from distance in that game and hauled down offensive boards of field-goal misses at a greater-than-50% rate.

This contest Wednesday sends these 2 programs into a holiday week and is the lone BU game in a 4-game stretch between Nov. 21-Dec. 4 that does not have the Bears squaring off against a BartTorvik top-25. Might Baylor get caught napping, at least to the point of allowing a couple runs for the Privateers? The spread here is a big number.

New Orleans is perhaps just good enough in avoiding turnovers and defending the perimeter to keep this one in the 25-to-30-point range.

BET NEW ORLEANS +35.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Over has gone 4-1 across BU’s last 5 games when favored by 25-plus.

The Bears are a slightly slower-than-average five on the pace meter. But the efficiency advantage at both ends here will be significant. The Privateers had it hammered home in their high-scoring game against Tulane that any stand they can make, even in short runs, can be leveraged by their faster-than-average tempo. The Over has gone 3-1 the last 4 times New Orleans was an underdog of 15 points or more.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers a better total for the Over bettor here: BACK THE OVER 149.5 (-110).

Louisville vs. Indiana odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Louisville vs. Indiana odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Louisville Cardinals (3-1) and the No. 15 Indiana Hoosiers (4-0) meet Wednesday at Imperial Arena in Nassau, Bahamas. Tip-off is scheduled for noon ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Louisville vs. Indiana odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Cardinals have bounced back from a 77-55 loss against the Tennessee Volunteers on Nov. 9, Louisville’s only loss against a ranked team so far. Louisville is 1-2 against the spread (ATS) in the past 3 games, while cashing low in 3 of 4 outings, including against the Vols.

The Hoosiers have won all 4 games to date, with the highlight being an 87-71 win as an 8.5-point favorite against South Carolina on Nov. 16 at Assembly Hall. The Over cashed in that game, too, the only matchup this season against a power conference opponent.

Louisville vs. Indiana picks and predictions

Prediction

Indiana 82, Louisville 74

Moneyline

INDIANA (-14]65) is worth playing as a moderate favorite in this battle in the Bahamas.

Louisville (+135) was outclassed by Tennessee at home on Nov. 9, and that’s hard to ignore. It was the only notable team the Cardinals have played, and they were embarrassed.

The Hoosiers are a much better team, and they’re more battle tested, too.

Against the spread

Back INDIANA -3.5 (-105), as they look to rebound from a non-cover against UNC Greensboro after a 69-58 win.

Still, the Hoosiers are 2-1 ATS in the past 3 games, including an emphatic 16-point victory over South Carolina on Nov. 16 in Bloomington. The different here is that Indiana has been tested, and it passed, while Louisville +3.5 (-115) failed miserably in its only previous game against a team of note.

Over/Under

OVER 153.5 (-105) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

Again, Indiana cashed high against South Carolina in the only game against a power conference team. It cashed low in games against SIU Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois and UNC Greensboro, but the Hoosiers defense will give up a little more against a better Cardinals offense.

Louisville has scored 93 or more points on 2 occasions, but be careful, as it has hit the Under in 3 of 4 outings. The defense has been good, but it did cough up 77 points in Tennessee, again, its only real test of the season to date.

Memphis vs. Auburn odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Memphis vs. Auburn odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Memphis Tigers (6-0) and the No. 3 Auburn Tigers (6-0) meet Wednesday in the Maui Invitational Championship Game. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET (ESPN) at the Lahaina Civic Center. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Memphis vs. Auburn odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Tigers of Memphis have surprised in the islands, stunning the UConn Huskies 99-97 in OT as an 8-point underdog, while besting the Michigan State Spartans 71-63 on Tuesday night as a 2.5-point ‘dog. Memphis has not only won all 6 of its games, it has covered all 6 as well. The Tigers have alternated the Under and Over in each of the first 6 contests.

The Tigers of Auburn were expected to make a run to this title game, but it has had a tough road. Auburn had a comeback to edge the Iowa State Cyclones 83-81 on Monday as a 3.5-point favorite in a non-cover. It worked over the North Carolina Tar Heels on Tuesday, 85-72, while cashing as a 4-point favorite. Despite the non-cover against Iowa State, Auburn is still 5-1 against the spread (ATS). The Over-Under has split in the first 6 outings.

Memphis vs. Auburn picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 86, Memphis 77

Moneyline

Auburn (-345) will cost you nearly 3 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much for a standalone bet. Even including the Tigers in your multi-leg parlay will suck all of the value out of your ticket.

AVOID, and focus on the spread instead.

Against the spread

Play AUBURN -7.5 (-120) lightly in this title game in Maui.

Memphis +7.5 (-102) has taken down 2 heavyweight with outright victories against UConn and Michigan State, and it hasn’t failed to cover in any of its 6 games to date. However, springing 3 upsets in 3 straight days against a top-tier team is a tall order. If Memphis were to win this game, Anfernee Hardaway’s team might head back from the islands with a top-10 ranking.

Over/Under

OVER 155.5 (-110) might be the best play on the board.

Memphis is playing with house money, and while it certainly wants to finish off this improbable championship, it should play free and easy.

Auburn is an offensive juggernaut, going for 79 or more points in 5 straight games, while averaging 84.0 PPG in the 2 games in the islands.

UT Martin at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s UT Martin at Tennessee odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The UT Martin Skyhawks (2-4) face the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers (6-0) Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the UT Martin vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

UT Martin dropped its 4th consecutive game on Friday, losing 65-53 to the Le Moyne Dolphins, a team that moved to Division I in July 2023. The Skyhawks failed to cover as 3-point road favorites as the Under 144 cashed. UT Martin struggled offensively, hitting just 3-of-31 (9.7%) from beyond the arc. G Afan Trnka led the team with 12 points.

Tennessee stayed undefeated by defeating the No. 18 Baylor Bears 77-62 on Friday, covering as 4.5-point favorites as the Under 142 cashed. Tennessee built a commanding 47-20 lead at halftime and cruised to victory in the Bahamas. Senior G Chaz Lanier led all scorers with 25 points.

UT Martin at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 92, UT Martin 49

Moneyline

PASS.

The Volunteers (-10000) will dominate over their in-state competitor but no way you can bet these odds. Take your wager to the spread and/or total.

Against the spread

BET TENNESSEE -38.5 (-110).

Tennessee is clearly the superior team in every aspect, but the only question is whether they can cover this large spread. They’ve covered spreads of 25+ points twice this season, but haven’t faced one over 30. The Volunteers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games. UT Martin struggles offensively, averaging just 65.6 points per game (292nd nationally), while Tennessee scores 82.2 points per game (53rd). Expect the Volunteers to cover on Wednesday.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 142.5 (-110).

Tennessee excels at both scoring and defense, which will be too much for UT Martin. The Volunteers allow just 58 points per game, while UT Martin averages only 65. I don’t see UT Martin scoring more than 60 points, possibly even less. While Tennessee should put up big numbers, it’s unclear if UT Martin will contribute enough to push the total over. Given this, the safer bet is the Under in this matchup.

West Virginia vs. Gonzaga odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s West Virginia at Gonzaga odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-1) face the No. 4 Gonzaga Bulldogs (5-0) Wednesday at Imperial Arena in Nassau, Bahamas. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the West Virginia vs. Gonzaga odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

West Virginia bounced back from an 86-62 road loss to the Pitt Panthers on Nov. 15 with a commanding 86-43 victory last Wednesday over the Iona Gaels. Thc Mountaineers forced 21 turnovers as they easily covering as 12.5-point home favorites while the Under 147 cashed. G Javon Small, a transfer from Oklahoma State, delivered an all-around performance with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and a block.

Gonzaga stayed unbeaten with an 84-41 win over Long Beach State last Wednesday, covering as a 34-point home favorite. The Bulldogs dominated defensively, forcing 16 turnovers and outscoring the Beach 36-22 in the paint. F Graham Ike and Arkansas transfer G Khalif Battle each scored 15 points to pace a balanced attack.

West Virginia vs. Gonzaga picks and predictions

Prediction

Gonzaga 92, West Virginia 70

Moneyline

PASS.

Gonzaga (-1400) should get the win here, but you should never bet something with these crazy odds on the moneyline. I’ll take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET GONZAGA -15.5 (-105).

I expected Gonzaga’s spread to land around 19 points, so a lower number makes them a great option here. KenPom highlights a significant gap between these teams, with Gonzaga ranked 2nd at +30.79 in adjusted efficiency margin and West Virginia sitting 73rd at +10.60—a 20.19-point difference.

The Mountaineers have failed to cover in 2 of their last 3 games, while Gonzaga is 4-1 ATS and has the nation’s third-best average margin of victory (+32.2). West Virginia is still adjusting under Darian DeVries, making it tough to back them against such a powerhouse. Take the Bulldogs to cover.

Over/Under

BET OVER 155.5 (-110).

I’m also backing the over in this neutral-site showdown. Gonzaga boasts the top-ranked offense in the country, scoring 125.7 points per 100 possessions. They’ve gone over in 3 of their last 5 games and are averaging 93.2 points per game. With no game under 80 points this season, I expect them to hit the low-90s here.

Both teams are in the top half of the country in adjusted tempo—Gonzaga 80th (70.7 possessions per 40 minutes) and West Virginia 151st (69.4). The Mountaineers average 77.5 points per game, so if they hit 70, we should easily surpass the total.

Kansas vs. Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Kansas vs. Duke odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks (5-0) take on the No. 10 Duke Blue Devils (4-1) Tuesday evening in the Terry’s Chocolate Vegas Showdown. Tip-off from T-Mobile Arena is set for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Kansas vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Jayhawks have been chillin’ since taking down UNC-Wilmington 84-66 Nov. 19. C Hunter Dickinson had 15 points and 15 boards. They failed to cover as 24.5-point favorites in that one and are just 1-4 ATS on the year.

The Blue Devils took down Arizona 69-55 Friday as 2-point underdogs. G Cooper Flagg dropped 24 points with 6 boards, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Duke’s lone loss was a 77-72 defeat to Kentucky Nov. 12. The Dukies were 5.5-point favorites in that one.

These teams last met in 2022 with KU coming away with a 69-64 win at home. It was a 2-point dog in that one.

Kansas vs. Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 79, Duke 77

Moneyline

It’s a neutral-site game, and Duke has already faltered against a top-10 team in UK in such a setting. KU has already beat No. 9 UNC this season. For Kansas to be a +135 proposition really sticks out to me. The Jayhawks are going to need Dickinson to command the middle and stay out of foul trouble.

But I like KANSAS +135 here.

Against the spread

There’s no point in taking the spread here when we’re taking the value on the ML. Instead, you can take HUNTER DICKINSON OVER 17.5 POINTS (-105). Now, he had 15 and 10 points in the last 2 games, but those were in blowouts. He had 20 against No. 9 UNC Nov. 8.

Over/Under

Both of these teams average north of 83 PPG. Duke has an elite defensive rating at 6th in the nation, but Kansas can score inside and out. I look for a shootout in Vegas.

Take the OVER 148.5 (-115).

Oregon vs. Texas A&M picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas A&M 71, Oregon 68

Moneyline

PASS.

While the moneyline could be enticing for the underdog, the better value here is on the spread, especially considering how tightly contested some battles have been for both sides this season.

Against the spread

BET OREGON +3.5 (-115).

The Ducks have the size and shooting to be able to hang with Texas A&M. Three of their top 4 scorers shoot over 30% from deep, and 3 also shoot better than 53% from the field. Oregon has flipped between covering and not in all 5 games and failed to in its last outing, suggesting it is primed to reward bettors here.

The Aggies are 0-1 ATS on the road and only have 1 of their top 4 scorers shooting better than 50%. Take the more efficient side, and play OREGON +3.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 147.5 (-110).

If there’s 1 thing both sides can agree on, it is the Under. The Ducks are 2-3 O/U on the season and have allowed 70 or fewer in 3 of their last 4 games.

The Aggies are 1-4 O/U and have allowed 64 or fewer in 4 of 5. Both teams can defend at a high level. Texas A&M is 0-2 O/U against Power 4 opponents as well.

Back UNDER 147.5 (-110).

Western Kentucky at Kentucky odds, picks and predictions

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (3-2) and No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats (5-0) meet at the BBN Invitational Tuesday. Tip-off from Rupp Arena is set for 6:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Western Kentucky vs. Kentucky odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Kentucky, which is No. 8 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, has yet to lose this season. It has closed as a favorite of 20 or more points in 4 of its 5 games, but does have a 77-72 win over the No. 10 Duke Blue Devils (Nov. 12 in Atlanta) on its resume. The Wildcats are coming off a 108-59 victory over the Jackson State Tigers Friday, closing as 35.5-point home favorites.

The Hilltoppers beat the Tigers 79-62 Wednesday, closing as 14.5-point favorites. They lost their first 2 games of the season, both as underdogs, going 1-1 against the spread (ATS). Western Kentucky at Kentucky picks and predictions

Prediction

Kentucky 97, Western Kentucky 70

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to take a moneyline favorite of this size. Kentucky, at home, should come out on top with ease, but has better value on the spread.

Against the spread

BET KENTUCKY -22.5 (-110).

The Hilltoppers have not played an opponent of this caliber yet and should struggle to keep pace. Western Kentucky has scored just over 70 PPG in its 3 games that were on the board.

Meanwhile, Kentucky has scored 100 or more points in 3 of its 4 games as a favorite of 21 or more this season, going 3-0-1 ATS.

Considering those trends, back KENTUCKY -22.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 163.5 (-110).

The Wildcats have gone Over in 4 of 5 games and abused weaker opponents at home. They put up 108 points on Jackson State Friday and have scored at least 97 in 4 of 5 games, with the lone exception being against top-25 Duke Nov. 12.

The Hilltoppers are 1-3 O/U, but should keep up the pace. They’ve scored at least 66 points in all 5 games and at least 72 in 4 of the 5. With that in mind, back OVER 163.5 (-115).
