It’s Game Day: Orange vs. White Rosters for 2024 Clemson Tigers Spring Game

Clemson Tigers Football: Here’s a look at all the players who will appear at 2024 Orange vs. White spring game Saturday at Memorial Stadium Saturday.

Game day for Clemson’s 2024 spring game is officially here.

The Tigers’ annual Orange vs. White game will begin at 1 p.m. EDT. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra and ESPN+.

In what will be the 16th spring game under coach Dabo Swinney, the Tigers will have no shortage of intrigue and interest surrounding the players who will take the field at Memorial Stadium.

Cade Klubnik returns for his second season as starter, and the Tigers feature one of the nation’s best linebackers in Barrett Carter.

There’s also incoming freshmen that fans will get their first looks at, including five-star recruits like wide receiver Bryant Wesco and linebacker Sammy Brown.

Offensive coordinator Garrett Riley will serve as head coach of the orange team in Saturday’s scrimmage. Defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin will serve as head coach of the white team.

Swinney had a special message for fans in his final meeting with the media ahead of Saturday’s game.

“Man, I really hope they’ll show up and we’ll have a great crowd,” Swinney said. “It’s free, it is a very meaningful opportunity for us as a program, and our fans always show up. For a lot of these midyears (players), this is a big moment because the next time they actually play, the scoreboard’s going to be lit up.

“So this is a great opportunity to try to hopefully create that game feeling for some of these guys. And then we’ve got some guys that are getting a lot more opportunity as your team changes every year and you start over.”

Series preview and where to watch/stream/listen: No. 2 Clemson vs. Notre Dame

Clemson Baseball: Here’s a look at where Clemson Tigers fans can watch, stream, and listen to this weekend’s NCAA baseball series against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

No. 2 Clemson heads to South Bend for its next showdown in conference play when the Tigers take on Notre Dame.

The Tigers (25-3 overall, 7-2 ACC), ranked second in every major poll this week, defeated USC Upstate, 11-1, in seven innings on Tuesday and have won every conference series they’ve played thus far. Coach Erik Bakich’s team rallied after a series-opening walk-off loss at Miami last weekend to take two of three games against the Hurricanes.

Matthew Marchal will start Friday’s opener at Notre Dame with Ethan Darden scheduled for Saturday. Aidan Knaak is set to pitch Sunday. Knaak had his best performance as a Tiger in last Saturday’s start at Miami. The freshman right-hander tossed seven scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters while allowing just two hits.

Clemson’s pitching staff has compiled a 3.49 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .231 average this season.

With the bats, the Tigers are hitting .294 as a unit with an OPS of .924. They’re averaging 8.4 runs per game. Blake Wright leads the offense in home runs (13) and RBIs (42) and is hitting .331.

Notre Dame (14-12) will start right-handers Matt Bedford (Friday), Jack Radel (Saturday), and Rory Fox (Sunday) in this weekend’s series. The Fighting Irish are just 2-10 in conference play and were swept last weekend at NC State.

Saturday’s game will mark a rare national television appearance for the Tigers; that game will be broadcast by ESPN2.

Series History

Clemson leads the all-time head to head series with Notre Dame, 15-14. The two programs first met in 1994. The Tigers took two of three from the Irish in last year’s three-game series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

March Madness: Where to watch, stream and listen to Clemson vs. Alabama

Clemson Basketball in March Madness: Here’s where Clemson Tigers fans can watch, stream and listen to Saturday’s Elite Eight contest vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide in the NCAA Tournament in Los Angeles.

Alabama coach Nate Oats dubbed it “the basketball Rose Bowl.”

No word yet on whether Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney will be there to witness it.

Nevertheless, it’s on to the Elite Eight for No. 6 seed Clemson, which will take on No. 4 seed Alabama in the West Region final of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

It will be the second time the Crimson Tide and Tigers have met this season. Clemson defeated Alabama, 85-77, back on November 28 in Tuscaloosa as part of the ACC-SEC Challenge.

With a trip to the Final Four on the line, it’s hard to bet against the Tigers in a rematch.

They survived No. 3 seed Baylor before knocking out No. 2 seed Arizona, 77-72, in Thursday’s Sweet 16 contest. Chase Hunter has been phenomenal throughout the tournament, and he scored another 18 points in the win against Arizona.

Clemson’s defense has held opponents to less than 40 percent shooting in its first three games of the tournament.

Alabama got to the Elite 8 by taking down No. 1 seed North Carolina, 89-87, in a thrilling comeback on Thursday. Grant Nelson scored 24 points to keep the Tide rolling in the Dance after a late-season slump in SEC play threatened to derail Alabama’s season.

The Crimson Tide is the led by senior Mark Sears, who averages 21.4 points per night. Sears totaled 18 points against North Carolina on 7-of-14 shots. ‘Bama’s biggest strength — and subsequently its achilles heel — is its 3-point shooting. When the Tide gets rolling, they have any number of deadly assassins from behind the arc, including Sears and Rylan Griffen (11.2 points per game).

Neither Clemson nor Alabama have ever reached the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.

Series Notes and History

Clemson leads the all time head to head series, 8-4. The two schools first met in basketball in 1929. The Tigers have won the last three meetings in the series, including its November win in Tuscaloosa. In that game, Hall had 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Hunter and Joe Girard combined for 31 points. Saturday’s game will mark the fifth meeting between the Tigers and Crimson Tide since 2015.

NCAA Baseball: Series preview and where to watch/stream/listen to No. 2 Clemson vs. Miami

Clemson Baseball: Here’s a look at where Clemson Tigers fans can watch, stream, and listen to this weekend’s NCAA baseball series against the Miami Hurricanes.

Entering Easter Weekend, Clemson has been the best team in the ACC — if not the best team in the country.

The Tigers’ 22-2 start is the program’s best mark since 2002 when that year’s club began the year 23-1 and ended the season one win shy of the championship game of the College World Series.

Clemson moved to No. 2 in the nation in this week’s Baseball America’s Top 25 rankings. Coach Erik Bakich’s team also moved up two spots to No. 3 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll following a dramatic three-game sweep of previously unbeaten Florida State that produced two incredible come-from-behind victories.

The threat of inclement weather postponed a scheduled Top 25 midweek matchup between Clemson and No. 20 Coastal Carolina earlier this week.

As a team, the Tigers are batting .303 with an OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging) of .964. Opponents are batting .238 against Clemson pitching, which boasts a 4.29 staff ERA that ranks fifth in the ACC.

Blake Wright hit six home runs and drove in 21 runs in five games last week to take home ACC Player of the Week honors. Wright was also tabbed as the Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Next up for the Tigers is Miami (14-10 overall, 5-4 conference) in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes took two out of three games in series against nationally-ranked programs Virginia (No. 8) and North Carolina (No. 11) before dropping two games at Notre Dame last weekend. Miami defeated FIU, 14-7, in midweek play on Tuesday.

The ‘Canes have averaged 8.5 runs per game this season while batting .306 as a team. They’ve struggled on the bump with a staff ERA of 5.75.

Clemson will go with a different rotation for this weekend’s series due to an ankle injury to left-hander Tristan Smith. Smith (2-0, 2.55 ERA) has been the team’s best starter this season but missed his usual Saturday start against Florida State and will be out at least one more week, Bakich said.

In Smith’s place, the Tigers will go with left-hander Ethan Darden. Darden (4-0, 5.09 ERA) pitched a career-high 6 1/3 innings against FSU, allowing four earned runs and seven hits.

Matthew Marchal will make his first start of the season in Thursday’s series opener. In eight relief appearances this season, Marchal is 4-0 with a 3.55 ERA. Freshman right-hander Aidan Knaak (1-0, 4.60 ERA) is scheduled to make his seventh start in Saturday’s finale.

Series History

Miami leads the all-time head to head series with Clemson, 45-32-1. The two programs first met in 1977. Clemson defeated Miami, 11-5, in the championship game of last season’s ACC Tournament in Durham.

NCAA WBIT Tournament: Broadcast and stream info for Penn State vs. Mississippi State

No. 1 Penn State takes on Mississippi State in the quarterfinals of the WBIT.

The Penn State Lady Lions have advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA WBIT after defeating Belmont 74-66. Junior guard [autotag]Leilani Kapinus[/autotag] scored her 1,000th career point, and [autotag]Makenna Marisa[/autotag] led the Lady Lion offense with 18 points. This Thursday, both players will be needed when Penn State takes on Mississippi State at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The Bulldogs finished seventh in the SEC with an 8-8 conference record, but they boast two 14+ point per game scorers in JerKaila Jordan and Jessika Carter.

The Lady Lions, on the other hand, offer up five double-digit scorers led by grad transfer [autotag]Ashley Owusu[/autotag] with 17.7 points per game. Penn State is 14-4 at home and will look to continue that success Thursday evening against Mississippi State.

A win would put the Lady Lions into the WBIT semifinals and book them a trip to Indianapolis. On April 1, they would take on the winner of No. 1 Villanova and Saint Joseph’s.

March Madness: Where to watch, stream and listen to Clemson vs. Arizona

Clemson Basketball in March Madness: Here’s where Clemson Tigers fans can watch, stream and listen to Thursday’s Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament game between the Tigers and the Arizona Wildcats.

Clemson is hoping to reach the Elite Eight for just the second time in school history this weekend. Beyond that, they’ve never been to the Final Four. To get there, they’ll first have to get past No. 2 seed Arizona in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament Thursday at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center).

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:09 p.m. EDT. The game will be televised by CBS.

The sixth-seeded Tigers (23-11 overall) dominated New Mexico, 77-56, in the opening round of the tournament on Friday in Memphis, and they followed it up with a white-knuckle victory over No. 3 seed Baylor.

Clemson led by as many as 15 in the second half against Baylor and sank all six foul shots in the final 30 seconds to hold on for a 72-65 victory, marking the program’s first Sweet 16 appearance since 2018.

Things don’t figure to be any easier against Arizona (27-8). The Wildcats had been considered a likely No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament before some late-season struggles. They won the regular season Pac-12 championship before stumbling in the conference tournament against Oregon.

Thus far in the Dance, coach Tommy Lloyd’s Wildcats have looked every bit the part of a top seed. They beat No. 15 seed Long Beach State by 20, then got 19 points in 35 minutes from Caleb Love in a 78-68 victory over Dayton. Keshad Johnson and Pelle Larson had 13 points in the win against Dayton.

Love, who was awarded the 2023-24 Pac-12 Player of the Year award, led Arizona in scoring this season with an average of 20 points per game in conference play. Love reached the NCAA championship game two years ago when he was with North Carolina.

Larsson and center Oumar Ballo both average 13 points a night for the Wildcats. Ballo averages 11 rebounds per game, which was good for second in the Pac-12. Love, Johnson, Larson and Bello have played in all 35 games this season for Arizona.

For Clemson, senior guard Chase Hunter is playing his best basketball at just the right time. Hunter scored a team-high 20 points against Baylor on 5-of-10 shooting, two days after totaling 21 points on 8-of-16 shots against New Mexico.

PJ Hall has led the Tigers in scoring all season and averages 18.5 points per game. Joe Girard averages 15 a night for Clemson while Ian Schieffelin, the ACC’s Most Improved Player for 2023-24, leads the team with 9.5 rebounds a night. Schieffelin finished in double figures against both New Mexico and Baylor.

Series Notes  and History

Thursday’s game will mark just the fourth all-time meeting between Clemson and Arizona. The Wildcats won all three previous meetings. The teams first met on March 18, 1989 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Boise, Idaho, a 94-68 Arizona victory. They met in back to back years in 2011 and 2012 as part of a home-and-home series. Arizona defeated Clemson, 66-54, in 2012.
