Celtics vs. Sixers: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Wednesday’s Celtics-76ers game.

The Philadelphia 76ers host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night in a nationally televised game, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The Celtics (8-4) are hoping to rebound from their worst performance of the season, a 105-75 drubbing at the hands of the New York Knicks. Guard Kemba Walker returned to the court in the loss, and his presence will be important for a Celtics team that is still missing Jayson Tatum, Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford.

The 76ers (9-5) have been short-handed recently due to COVID-19 issues and have missed practice time as a result, but will only be missing Mike Scott and Vincent Poirier on Wednesday. Philadelphia is expected to have its full starting five available, with Seth Curry returning from a two-week absence.

NBA Power Rankings: Nets make big jump

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: 76ers -4.5
  • Money line: 76ers -190 / Celtics +155
  • Over-under: 220.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

It would not be surprising to see the 76ers get off to a slow start as they adjust to having Embiid and Curry back, but with Tatum out for Boston and Kemba Walker still working his way back to form, I’m taking the Sixers’ star-power and depth to handle the Celtics at home. Take the 76ers -4.5.

Prediction: 76ers 117, Celtics 101

Knicks vs. Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bets for Sunday’s Knicks-Celtics game.

The slumping New York Knicks travel to Boston to face the Celtics in a early game on Sunday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 1:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBA TV.

Despite a rash of COVID-19 issues that caused the Celtics to postpone three consecutive games, Boston (8-3) is riding a five-game winning streak, and are coming off a blowout win over the Magic. The Knicks (5-8) have lost five straight this season, and have also lost five in a row against the Celtics.

Jayson Tatum, Robert Williams and Carsen Edwards are out for the Celtics, while Daniel Theis and Tacko Fall are questionable. The good news for Boston is that star guard Kemba Walker has been upgraded to questionable, and could make his first appearance of the season. The Knicks will be without Alec Burks and Frank Ntilikina.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -7.5
  • Money line: Celtics -300 / Knicks +240
  • Over-under: 212.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Knicks haven’t beaten the Celtics since 2018, and I don’t expect them to come close to scoring an upset on Sunday. The Knicks’ roster is entirely outmatched even with Jayson Tatum out for the Celtics, and Kemba Walker’s return will only boost a Celtics team that has been playing at a high level and blowing out opponents.

The Knicks rank 27th in offensive efficiency,  and 19th in defensive rating. I expect the Celtics to get to 120 points and the Knicks to simply not have the firepower to keep it close. Take Celtics -7.5 confidently, along with the over 212.5, a line that feels a little bit low.

Prediction: Celtics 121, Knicks 101

Heat vs Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (Jan. 10)

All you need to know to wager on this evening’s Miami Heat contest.

The Boston Celtics play the Miami Heat at home at TD Garden on Sunday, January 10, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. ET, and can be seen on NBC Boston Sports and NBA TV in a contest that will see a significantly depleted Celtics face the Heat with at least six players out. And it could be as many as nine players if the full slate of potential players end up in the league’s health and safety protocols after a pair of positive tests for COVID-19 strike Boston.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: + 7.5
  • Money line: 1.34/ 3.30
  • Over-under: 1.91

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The writing is on the wall with this contest, with the Action Network reporting 96% of the money bet on this contest favoring the Heat to win. Such a lopsided balance reflects the many key players sitting or a risk to sit in a game with built-in revenge factors for Miami given they lost the last contest at home.

Prediction: Miami Heat 133, Boston Celtics 112

Wizards vs. Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Friday’s Wizards-Celtics game.

The short-handed Boston Celtics host the Washington Wizards on Friday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston and NBC Sports Washington.

The Celtics are facing serious COVID-19 issues after Robert Williams tested positive for the virus, per ESPN. Williams is out on Friday, as are Tristan Thompson and Grant Williams, who have been ruled out due to contact tracing. The Celtics are still without Kemba Walker and Romeo Langford, and Jeff Teague is questionable with an ankle injury. The Wizards are fully healthy entering Friday’s game.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -5.5
  • Money line: Celtics -200 / Wizards +170
  • Over-under: 235.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Celtics are on a three-game winning streak, but will be missing significant size and depth, with Daniel Theis and Tacko Fall as the only healthy big men remaining. The Wizards, meanwhile, have won two of three, and Bradley Beal is coming off a career-high 60 point game against the 76ers. This line opened at Celtics -5.5 and hasn’t yet shifted, so I’d place a small bet on Wizards +5.5 while you can.

It’s difficult to project how the Celtics’ depth issues could affect their performance against the Wizards’ terrible defense, but I’d stay away from a bet on the total given that it’s so high.

Prediction: Wizards 125, Celtics 118

Heat vs. Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks 1/6

Everything you need to know to wager on tonight’s Boston-Miami contest.

The Miami Heat play the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, Jan. 6, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN. While the Celtics can point to the lack of All-Star point guard Kemba Walker for their early season turbulence, it’s less clear what ails the Heat. Both teams have some good wins and excusable losses, as well as a few head-scratchers.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: + 2.5
  • Moneyline: 2.15/ 1.72
  • Over-under: 217.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

It’s looking like a close one between camps taking the Heat and Celtics in terms of tickets with 52% going for the Heat, according to the Action Network. With games seemingly either very tight or a blowout across much of the early season NBA action, we have no reason to doubt this could be the same, so the point spread seems about right for two teams with a chip on their shoulders carried over from last season’s East Finals. With Marcus Smart and Jeff Teague both listed as questionable for tonight’s contest, we’ll go with the Heat for this one.

Prediction: Miami 122, Boston 119

Pistons-Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (1/3)

Everything you need to know to wagers on the Celtics’ game with the Pistons today.

The Detroit Pistons play the Boston Celtics on Sunday, Jan. 3, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM. The game tips off at 3 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBA TV and NBC Sports Boston.

Last time they met was not at all long ago — on New Year’s day, the quick turnaround of course a product of the league’s efforts to minimize travel in the midst of an ongoing pandemic. That outing was a smack in the face for the Celtics, who came out slow early and got burned for it 96 – 93.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: – 8.5
  • Money line: 1.26 / 3.90
  • Over-under: 212.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IN, MI, NV, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Action Network has 90% of tickets taking the Celtics at the – 8.5 spread. Given their talent advantage — and their pride, after getting beaten by a clearly inferior team — we have to agree this is the smart bet.

Prediction: Boston 113, Detroit 107

Celtics vs. Pistons: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (1/1)

Everything you need to place your bets on today’s Celtics-Pistons contest.

The Boston Celtics play the Detroit Pistons on this New Year’s Day 2021, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7 pm ET and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston. The winless Pistons may not be a probable threat, but any team in the league can beat any other if a team doesn’t respect their opponent. So, the Celtics will still have a challenge in front of them despite their blowout of Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: – 8.5
  • Money line: 1.22 / 4.33
  • Over-under: 1.91

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IN, MI, NV, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

As we alluded to above, the Celtics are their own worst enemy in this contest, fresh off of a big win vs. Memphis. That being said, this is still a very likely win for Boston — and the point spread of – 8.5 seems a reasonably safe bet.

Prediction: Celtics 121, Pistons 98

Celtics vs. Grizzlies: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (Dec. 30)

The Celtics host the short-handed Grizzlies on Wednesday. Here’s our prediction and best bet for the game.

The Boston Celtics host the short-handed Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET (here’s how to watch).

The Celtics (2-2) are on the second night of a back-to-back after beating the Pacers on Tuesday night. The big storyline here is the Grizzlies’ colossal injury report. Memphis star Ja Morant suffered a serious ankle sprain earlier this week and will be out for 3-to-5 weeks, but he’s just one of seven players out for the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -6.5 (+100)
  • Money line: Celtics -250 / Grizzlies +195
  • Over-under: 219.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IN, MI, NV, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

Yes, the Grizzlies did manage to eke out a win over the Nets even after Ja Morant left the game – but that was a Nets team without Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant. The Grizzlies’ roster has been ravaged by injuries, and I don’t see how they can match up to the Celtics, even if Boston won’t be quite as fresh. Take Celtics -6.5 (+100) while you can for an even payout.

I’d lean toward the under on the total, but it’s too difficult to predict the Grizzlies’ scoring output to recommend a bet. The Celtics have had some defensive issues early in the season, so they could cruse and allow the Grizzlies’ backups to cross the 100-point mark, but this could just as easily be a game where the short-handed Grizzlies struggle to score 90.

Prediction: Celtics 117, Grizzlies 91

Pacers-Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, betting picks (12/29)

All the information you need to wager on the Boston-Indiana tilt.

The Boston Celtics play the Indiana Pacers at home for the second time in three days this Tuesday, Dec. 29, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7pm ET, and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston, with the Celtics looking to get some revenge after flat play and poor defense practically handed the Pacers’ the win in the two clubs’ last meeting this past Monday.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: – 1.5
  • Money line: 1.83 / 2.00
  • Over-under: 1.91

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IN, MI, NV, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

A whopping 77% are taking the Celtics on their tickets for this contest according to the Action Network, and we’d have to agree. Boston is the better team in terms of talent, but talent doesn’t win games without discipline — and that may well be an achilles heel of this young team. With the memory of a narrow loss so fresh in their minds, we’re expecting a much better effort from the Celtics and a convincing win with it.

Prediction: 117 Boston, 101 Indiana.

Pacers vs. Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, betting picks

Our predictions and betting picks for the Celtics-Pacers tilt Sunday-

The Boston Celtics play the Indiana Pacers this Sunday, December 27th, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 8pm ET, and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston. The Celtics have split their first two games against the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets, and look much better than they did in their preseason contests despite the continued absence of Kemba Walker, Romeo Langford and Tacko Fall. The Pacers have won their first two games, though against a much lower level of competition in the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: -2.5
  • Money line: Celtics 1.75 / Pacers + 210
  • Over-under: – 220.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IN, MI, NV, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

Per the Action Network, 59% of tickets are on the Celtics to cover. Boston has considerably more talent on the wing and a more seasoned frontcourt, while Indiana has better depth and health.

The Pacers may well surprise this season should point guard Victor Oladipo remain healthy and play near his pre-injury level, but even without star Kemba Walker, the Celtics have looked good against better teams early on. We’re taking  Boston -2.5 in what may be a closer game than many expect.

Prediction: Celtics 111, Pacers 106
