Celtics at Clippers: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bets for Friday’s Celtics-Clippers game.

Friday’s nightcap on the NBA schedule is a premier, nationally televised game you don’t want to miss. The Boston Celtics continue their road trip with a stop in Los Angeles to face the Clippers, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The Celtics (11-9) are midway through a brutal stretch of the schedule, and have dropped three of their last four games with dates against the Clippers, Suns and Jazz yet to come before a return home to Boston. The Clippers (17-6), meanwhile, have been one of the best teams in the NBA over the last month, winning 11 of 13 – and perhaps more impressively, going 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games.

Patrick Beverley is out for the Clippers, while the Celtics will be missing Marcus Smart and Romeo Langford. Payton Pritchard (MCL sprain) and Jaylen Brown (left knee soreness) are listed as questionable for Boston.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Clippers -6.5
  • Money line: Clippers -275 / Celtics +220
  • Over-under: 219.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Celtics are certainly good enough to cover this spread with a solid performance, but it’s hard to bet against the Clippers in their current form. They’re 8-3 against the spread recently despite just returning from a long road trip, boast a top-3 offense, and rank fourth in the league in adjusted net rating, far ahead of the Celtics in 14th. Take the Celtics -6.5, and consider doubling up with a -3.5 first half bet.

I also like Over 219.5 on Friday. The over has hit in four of the last five Clippers game. The Clippers have the most efficient offense in the NBA, they make 15 threes a game, and they’ll force the Celtics to score if they hope to keep the game close. Barring a Clippers blowout, I think the over hits comfortably.

Prediction: Clippers 119, Celtics 109

Celtics at Kings: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bets for Wednesday’s Celtics-Kings game.

The Boston Celtics kicked off a five-game road trip with a win over the Warriors on Tuesday, and they’ll try to keep their run going on Wednesday night in Sacramento. If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston and NBC Sports California .

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 27 points as Boston edged Steph Curry’s Warriors by four, 111-107. The Kings were near the bottom of the Western Conference standings not long ago, but have won four of their last five games and are returning home after a successful road trip.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -1.5
  • Money line: Celtics -110 / Kings -110
  • Over-under: 225.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Celtics covered a small spread against the Warriors, and it feels like this line with the Kings is fairly generous. Yes, Boston is on the second-half of a back-to-back, but there’s a reason the Kings have a 5-6 home record and are last in the Pacific division. Take the Celtics moneyline, as you’re not earning much more money by laying 1.5 points.

I’d also hammer the over 225.5. Both the Celtics and Kings have top-10 offenses per adjusted offensive rating, but the Kings rank dead last in defensive rating. The Kings have gone over 225.5 in 13 of their 20 games this season.

Prediction: Celtics 123, Kings 114

Celtics vs. Warriors: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Tuesday’s Celtics-Warriors game.

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics take on Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in a nationally televised game on Tuesday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on TNT.

The Celtics (10-8) are hoping to snap a two-game losing streak, and have dropped their last two games by just five combined points. The Warriors have won three of their last four games, and are coming off a 27-point home win over the Pistons.

The Celtics will be without Marcus Smart, Payton Pritchard and Romeo Langford, while the Warriors will be missing rookie big man James Wiseman, Nico Mannion, Jordan Poole, Alen Smailagic and Klay Thompson.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -2.5
  • Money line: Celtics -140 / Warriors +115
  • Over-under: 226.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

I like the Celtics on Tuesday. The Warriors are 1-4 in their last five against 2020 Playoff teams, and all four of those losses have been by nine points or more.

Boston is better than its record would indicate, and while Smart’s absence will be felt, the Celtics still have a healthier and more talented roster.

BetMGM is also running a special Lion’s Boost player prop for Steph Curry that deserves some consideration. Curry to score 30+ points is available at +150, and while he’s only hit that mark six times this season in 20 starts, it’s a good option for a small side wager.

Prediction: Celtics 119, Warriors 110

Lakers vs. Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Saturday’s primetime Lakers-Celtics game.

The Los Angeles Lakers started the season 10-0 on the road, but they’re looking to avoid a three-game losing streak on Saturday night against the Celtics. If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ABC.

The Lakers (14-6) have dropped back-to-back games to the 76ers and Pistons, thought the team was without Anthony Davis against Detroit. The Celtics are returning home after a four-point loss to the Spurs in San Antonio on Wednesday, but will quickly head back out west for the three-game road trip following Saturday’s game.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Lakers -2.5
  • Money line: Lakers -135 / Celtics +110
  • Over-under: 218.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

READ: 2021 NBA Mock Draft consensus 1.0: The complete first round

Advice and prediction

This is a really good spot for a Lakers bounce-back performance, especially as it’s expected that Davis will return to the lineup.

Both he and James are listed as questionable, but LeBron has been listed as questionable all season and hasn’t missed a game. I’m not reading too much into the Lakers’ collapse in Detroit, which came on the second night of a back-to-back following a last-second loss to Philadelphia.

The Celtics blew out the Lakers last year in Boston by 22 – but that Celtics team had a top-5 defensive rating, while Boston has slipped to 18th this season. LeBron James is going to be extra motivated to stop the Lakers’ slide, and there’s very little chance they endure another seven-minute scoring drought like they did in Detroit. Take the Lakers -2.5.

Prediction: Lakers 112, Celtics 107

Celtics vs. Spurs: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Wednesday’s Celtics-Spurs game in San Antonio.

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Celtics will try to extend their winning streak to three games on Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston and Fox Sports Southwest.

The Spurs’ most recent scheduled game against the New Orleans Pelicans was postponed due to the NBA’s COVID-19 protocol, but the Spurs fortunately are not missing any players on Wednesday due to COVID-19 issues. With Jayson Tatum back in the lineup, the Celtics are looking to win their third game in a row, after easing past the Bulls on the road on Monday.

Payton Pritchard and Romeo Langford are out for the Celtics, while the Spurs will be without guard Derrick White.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -4.5
  • Money line: Celtics -175 / Spurs +145
  • Over-under: 223.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

With the Celtics’ roster nearly fully healthy at last, Boston is a understandably favored on Wednesday – but this is a capable Spurs team with wins over the Clippers, Lakers and Trail Blazers this season. Still, I’m taking the Celtics -4.5 here. Jayson Tatum scored 24 points and looked great in his first game back in the lineup, Jaylen Brown has become one of the best scorers in the league, and the recent momentum is in Boston’s favor.

Last season, the Celtics beat the Spurs by 20 in San Antonio – but the Spurs later beat the Celtics by 15 in Boston. Both of those games easily hit the over.

Prediction: Celtics 117, Spurs 108

Celtics vs. Bulls: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Monday’s Celtics-Bulls game.

Jayson Tatum will make his long-awaited return for the Celtics on Monday night as Boston visits Chicago to play the Bulls. If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 9:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBC Sports Chicago and NBC Sports Boston.

The Celtics (9-6) snapped a three-game losing streak with a blowout win over the Cavaliers on Sunday night, as Jaylen Brown exploded for 33 points in just 19 minutes. The Bulls (7-9) are coming off a loss to the Lakers, but have won three of their last four.

Tatum will return to the lineup for the Celtics for the first time since January 8th, but Payton Pritchard and Romeo Langford are still out. The Bulls could be without big man Wendell Carter Jr., who is listed as doubtful with a quad injury.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -4.5
  • Money line: Celtics -175 / Bulls +145
  • Over-under: 228.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Celtics are playing the second half of a back-to-back, but built up such a massive lead against the Cavs that Brad Stevens was able to empty the bench and keep his starters relatively fresh.

With Tatum back, Kemba Walker back in rhythm and Jaylen Brown on fire (averaging 37.5 points per game over his last two), the Celtics are a good value here at -4.5, even though the Bulls aren’t to be overlooked. Chicago was blown out by the Lakers in the first half on Saturday, but outscored LA by 19 in the second half to fall just short of covering the spread. For the season, Chicago is tied with Utah for the best ATS record in the NBA (11-5).

For the total, over bets have hit in six of the last eight Bulls games, and four of five Celtics games. The Bulls play at the second-highest pace in the NBA, both Chicago and Boston rank in the bottom half of the NBA in defensive rating, and the Bulls allow the third-most points in the league. Take the Over 228.5.

Prediction: Celtics 122, Bulls 113

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and betting preview for Sunday’s Cavs-Celtics game.

After a tough road trip, the Boston Celtics will return home to TD Garden to host the surging Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night.  If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston and Fox Sports Ohio.

The Celtics are on a three-game slide, and will be without star Jayson Tatum again on Sunday as he prepares to return from the health and safety protocol. Boston is still a considerable favorite against the Cavs despite Cleveland’s recent three-game winning streak, which included a series sweep of James Harden, Kyrie Irving and the Nets.

Payton Pritchard and Romeo Langford are also out for Boston, in addition to Tatum. Kevin Love, Matthew Dellavedova, Marques Bolden and Lamar Stevens are out for the Cavs.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -6.5
  • Money line: Celtics -275 / Cavs +220
  • Over-under: 212.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Cavaliers have been making moneyline bettors rich over their win streak, as they’ve won each game outright, while the Celtics have failed to cover their last three games. With Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince being worked into the Cavs rotation, it feels like bettors are undervaluing a surprisingly competitive Cleveland team, especially with Collin Sexton appearing to be making a leap as a player. Take the points, Cavs +6.5.

Prediction: Cavaliers 116, Celtics 114

Celtics vs. 76ers Part II: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (Jan. 22)

The Celtics and Sixers close out a two-game series on Friday. Here’s our best bet for the game.

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers close out a two-game series at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The Sixers beat the Celtics 117-109 on Wednesday, as big man Joel Embiid returned to the lineup and dropped 42 points to lead Philadelphia to victory. Can the Celtics avoid the mini-sweep on Friday? Let’s take a closer look at the betting lines.

Steph Curry is available for the Sixers after sitting out Wednesday for conditioning reasons, but Mike Scott and Vincent Poirier are out. The Celtics are without Jayson Tatum, Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford, and Aaron Nesmith is questionable.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: 76ers -4.5
  • Money line: 76ers -190 / Celtics +155
  • Over-under: 222.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

In an NBA season filled with two-game series due to the NBA’s efforts to reduce travel, we’ve seen it’s been tough for teams two win consecutive games against the same team – yet I don’t see a reason to expect a different result on Friday.

Joel Embiid is both healthy and dominant, Steph Curry should return to the lineup to give the Sixers even more depth, the 76ers are one of the best defensive teams in the league (4th in adjusted defensive rating) and the Celtics are still without their best player in Jayson Tatum. Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker should keep this one close, but take the 76ers -4.5.

Prediction: 76ers 113, Celtics 104

Celtics have players in the odds mix for 3 important NBA awards

The Celtics have players on the fringe of the MVP and Rookie of the Year awards — and another in the thick of the scrum for Most Improved Player.

The Boston Celtics have a pair of players on the fringe of two important NBA awards for the 2020-21 season, as well as one player right in the thick of the race for another.

It has been a while since the Celtics have had a player on their roster in the race for the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, and while he isn’t a favorite by any means so far this season, Boston’s All-NBA small forward Jayson Tatum finds himself in the tenth-place position in terms of odds (23:00) to win the award early in the season, according to our online wagering partner BetMGM.

Similarly, first-year floor general Payton Pritchard finds himself on the fringes of the Rookie of the Year (RoY) odds picture (51.00) per BetMGM.

However, it seems unlikely FastPP will get the opportunity to move up too much with starting point guard Kemba Walker back in the fold.

Perhaps most interestingly however is where fifth-year forward Jaylen Brown sits in the Most Improved Player (MIP) race odds-wise in fifth place (21.00).

With only the Houston Rockets’ Christian Wood, Detroit Pistons’ Jerami Grant, Toronto Raptors’ Chris Boucher and New York Knicks Julius Randle ahead of him, it is not inconceivable that Brown could overtake his peers to win the award by season’s end.

Though it would take the leap in production he’s already demonstrated and likely then some to do it convincingly.

Celtics vs. Sixers: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Wednesday’s Celtics-76ers game.

The Philadelphia 76ers host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night in a nationally televised game, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The Celtics (8-4) are hoping to rebound from their worst performance of the season, a 105-75 drubbing at the hands of the New York Knicks. Guard Kemba Walker returned to the court in the loss, and his presence will be important for a Celtics team that is still missing Jayson Tatum, Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford.

The 76ers (9-5) have been short-handed recently due to COVID-19 issues and have missed practice time as a result, but will only be missing Mike Scott and Vincent Poirier on Wednesday. Philadelphia is expected to have its full starting five available, with Seth Curry returning from a two-week absence.

NBA Power Rankings: Nets make big jump

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: 76ers -4.5
  • Money line: 76ers -190 / Celtics +155
  • Over-under: 220.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

It would not be surprising to see the 76ers get off to a slow start as they adjust to having Embiid and Curry back, but with Tatum out for Boston and Kemba Walker still working his way back to form, I’m taking the Sixers’ star-power and depth to handle the Celtics at home. Take the 76ers -4.5.

Prediction: 76ers 117, Celtics 101
