WATCH: Celtics two way sharpshooter Sam Hauser gets 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting with Maine Celtics

The Virginia product is lighting it up from deep in Portland.

There has been a lot of ink spilled in recent days about the lack of shooting on the Boston Celtics’ regular rotation in recent games, and while it may be an issue for the team that needs to be solved in a hurry, that does not mean the team is ready to — or for that matter, needs to — make a panic trade to solve it just yet.

There are some untested but potentially capable sharpshooters on the roster already not getting playing time for other reasons, including two way forward Sam Hauser. The Virginia product has been lighting it up at the G League level with the (Portland) Maine Celtics (formerly, Red Claws), and most recently put up 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor — all 3-pointers — vs. the Capital City Go-Gos.

Perhaps the team ought to consider giving Hauser some run with second units just to spice up the offensive palate a bit, which has become predictable and moribund while clogging the floor due to the slumps of the team’s better shooters and a lack of great ones.

Shams: Celtics alumni Greg Monroe, Carsen Edwards latch on with Wiz, Jazz G League teams respectively

The duo of former Celtics will try their hand at the G League level.

Two former Boston Celtics players have found themselves a team to latch on with at the NBA’s G League level, with guard Carsen Edwards inking a deal to play for the Utah Jazz’ G League team the Salt Lake City Stars, while onetime Celtics center Greg Monroe linking up with the Washington Wizards’ developmental affiliate in the G League, the Capitol City Go Gos.

The news was first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania Friday morning and is perhaps a bit of a surprise given both could likely earn bigger paychecks abroad. But there is perhaps good reason to stay within the league’s developmental system if they hope to play at the NBA level again soon.

Edwards was cut by the Celtics during the offseason before the 2021-22 season, having played three seasons for Boston without making many inroads into the team’s rotation.

Monroe last played in the NBA in the 2018-19 season, including a 2-game stint with the Celtics.

WATCH: Stashed Boston Celtics wing Juhann Begarin gets 22 points vs. AS Monaco

See all of his best plays from the game with Paris Basketball in this clip.

Fans of the Boston Celtics have grown accustomed to following the development of stashed Israeli point guard Yam Madar as he hones his craft overseas, but as of this last summer, he is not the only prospect stashed by the Celtics abroad.

The former No. 45 pick of the 2021 NBA draft for the Celtics Juhann Begarin has also been hard at work with Paris Basketball of the LNB Pro A league in France. The French shooting guard most recently put up 22 points, 2 rebounds, an assist, and 2 steals in a 100 – 75 blowout loss to AS Monaco. Begarin shot a very good 8-of-13 from the field, just 1-of-4 from 3-point range and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe.

There’s still work to be done on that outside shooting, but the Les Abymes native looks to be coming along nicely this season in general.

WATCH: Stashed Celtics guard Yam Madar gets 13 points vs. ABA’s Borac Čačak

Catch all of Madar’s highlights from his latest win abroad in this clip.

Boston Celtics stashed point guard Yam Madar continues to work on his game overseas, putting up another solid performance in a league with a high level of play in his new role as floor general for KK Partizan NIS of the Basketball League of Serbia (KLS), Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA — not to be confused by the now-defunct US league that competed with the NBA until several teams joined it in the late 1970s) and EuroCup leagues.

Madar has been slowly finding his legs in the new league and put up 13 points, a steal, and a block while shooting 4-of-4 from 2-point range, 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, and 1-of-3 from beyond the arc in an 86 – 68 blowout of Serbian club Košarkaški klub Borac Čačak on Oct. 30.

The Beit Dagan native would tie former Golden State Warriors forward Alen Smailagić as the team’s second leading scorer, trailing only forward Zach LeDay’s 14 points.

Watch Madar’s highlights from that game in the video embedded above, courtesy of YouTuber Bllen.

WATCH: Stashed Celtics guard Yam Madar gets 23 points, 4 boards on 75% shooting vs. Krka

The Beit Dagan native continues to hone his craft abroad.

When it comes to stashed Boston Celtics guard projects having outstanding games overseas lately, it is not just Juhann Begarin who is turning heads this week. Old friend Yam Madar continues to put in work with his team for the 2021-22 season, Partizan Belgrade of Europe’s Serbian SuperLiga.

The Israeli floor general put up a very solid outing on this last Friday in Partizan’s win over Krka, which was an absolute shellacking that saw Madar’s team win 92 – 45. The Beit Dagan native recorded 23 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, and as many steals plus a block in just over 27 minutes of playing time.

Perhaps even more impressively, Madar was lights-out from all over the court, shooting 75% from 2 and 3-point range.

Watch the clip embedded above courtesy of YouTuber Tomasz Kordylewski to see what the Israeli point guard has been up to abroad while we wait for Boston to right the ship with the Celtics.

WATCH: Celtics 2020 draft point guard stash Yam Madar scores 26 vs. Hapoel Eilat

The Israeli floor general continues to excel overseas.

The Boston Celtics have stashed plenty of players in the past, but few have looked better in their time away from the franchise that drafted them than Israeli floor general Yam Madar.

Drafted by the Celtics in the second round of the 2020 NBA draft with the 47th overall pick, some assumed Madar to be a throwaway selection to avoid taking on salary and a roster spot. But the Beit Dagan native has proven to be anything but that, pushing to get out of his current contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier Basketball League at the end of this season.

Madar’s recent play against Hapoel Eilat in particular serves as an example of why he is such an intriguing prospect for the Celtics.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnCg1ksDKMo

Putting up a season-high 25 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in 35 minutes of playing time, the Israeli helped secure a 108 – 93 win for his team.

Watch the highlights embedded above produced by Tomasz Kordylewski, and you’ll probably be as impatient as Madar is to see him in the NBA.

Celtics reportedly plan to have Maine Red Claws sit out G League season

While momentum builds for an Atlanta-area G League ‘bubble,’ Boston’s Red Claws are looking likely to sit it out.

The Boston Celtics may end up having two way players Tacko Fall and Tremont Waters with the team a lot more than some of us might have expected, based on what The Athletic’s Jared Weiss is reporting.

While there seems to be momentum building towards a bubble-like environment for the G-League season to take place in the Atlanta, Georgia area, the overhead required of teams seems an unattractive prospect for the Celtics in a year that has hemorrhaged money at every seeming opportunity.

Boston bought their developmental team in the G League in 2019, but may elect to sit it given the cost and challenges running it in a pandemic entail.

The team’s Portland-based developmental outfit will likely eschew the $500,000 entry fee given the league’s new rules for two way players will allow them to spend up to 50 games with the parent club with unlimited practice and travel allowances.

The move will make exhibit-10 deals a fraught proposition for players like Duke product Amile Jefferson, with no $50,000 bonus waiting for players cut if there is no team for them to play 60 days with to earn it per the terms of the unusual contract.

With both of Boston’s two way players on the fringe of being NBA-level talents in a season where positive COVID-19 results could easily decimate a team’s roster, the lack of G League opportunity may well be made up for with meaningful minutes at the NBA level.

Fall, Waters’ G League options coming into focus with Atlanta bubble idea

The Boston Celtics’ two way players may play their G League games in a bubble based in Atlanta, Georgia.

We are beginning to get an outline of how Boston Celtics two way players Tacko Fall and Tremont Waters will spend their seasons in 2020-21.

The New York Times’ Marc Stein reports that the NBA G League season may end up being held in a bubble environment akin to what was done to salvage the 2019-20 season for the NBA at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida this fall.

That ‘bubble’ would be in Atlanta, Georgia according to Stein — though he notes not all 28 teams may participate in the arrangement, which faces a number of logistical challenges to work out apart from the COVID-19 protocols and other pandemic-related concerns.

Chief among them will be working out how players will move between the club of their G League assignment — in Fall and Waters’ case, the (Portland) Maine Red Claws — and the parent club.

Due to the potential for quarantining players who have come into contact with people with positive COVID-19 diagnoses, teams may prefer having their 2-way players with the team for most of or even all of the NBA season.

For now, there’s still much work to be done to make such a proposal more than just that — a prospective direction to take.

But with the NBA season less than a month off and training camps even closer, expect to hear more about the future of the NBA’s developmental league in the short term.
