Detroit Cass Tech standout 2026 ATH CJ Sadler reportedly to visit MSU this weekend

Add another big-time recruit to the Spartans’ guest list for this upcoming weekend

Michigan State football will have a number of big-time recruits on campus this weekend, and that now will reportedly include 2026 standout athlete CJ Sadler.

Allen Trieu of 247Sports reported on Wednesday that Sadler will be visiting Michigan State this weekend for the Spartans’ matchup against Ohio State. Sadler is a freshman at Detroit Cass Tech and appears to be on his way to being a big-time prospect in the 2026 class.

Michigan State has already offered Sadler, with the Spartans extending him an offer as an 8th grader. He also has offers from Michigan, Kentucky, Louisville and Pitt.

UNC offensive keys to the game vs Miami

Taking a look at the offensive keys to the game for the UNC football program as it takes on Miami this weekend.

The UNC football program looks to build on its most successful and all-around performance last weekend when it travels to Miami this week.

The Tar Heels sit at 4-1 and take on a struggling Miami (2-2) program that lost to Middle Tennessee State before its bye week.

Offensively, North Carolina seemingly can’t be stopped and continues to show new ways to get its playmakers involved. Quarterback Drake Maye continues to be one of the top players under center around the country and each week he gets better.

Miami enters this week with a defense that has struggled to contain the pass — a recipe for disaster going up against Maye.

Either way, the Tar Heels will face a hungry Miami squad looking to rebound from a tough start to the season.

Here are the keys to the game for the UNC offense.

DB Ja’Qurious Conley working way back from injury, close to making a return

UNC football defensive back Ja’Qurious Conley is working his way back from injury and is close to making a return to the field.

The secondary for the UNC football program has been a major issue for the majority of this season, but this week did receive some good news regarding a veteran player making a way back from injury.

[autotag]Ja’Qurious Conley,[/autotag] a junior who made 10 starts last year, is making progress from a season-ending injury last year and is getting closer to a return.

North Carolina head coach Mack Brown said that Conley won’t play this week against Miami but could return next week when UNC plays Duke.

Conley has been out since last year’s game against Wofford.

In 11 games last year, Conley totaled 46 tackles, two interceptions, two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.

Conley is one of the best athletes on the team and a physical defensive back, something that the Tar Heels have been lacking in the secondary.

“He’s one of the best athletes on our team and we’ve lost him since the Wofford game last year, so tough for him and tough for us,” Brown told reporters earlier this week. “It’d be a real positive for everybody getting him back out there.”

The defensive unit is coming off of its best game against Virginia Tech last week and the coaching staff is hopeful that performance is a building block for the rest of the year. If so, getting Conley back to add to an improving defense could be a major turnaround from where this unit was just two weeks ago.

The Tar Heels (4-1) face Miami (2-2) this week.

USC placed behind UCLA in USA TODAY Sports re-rank of FBS teams

UCLA ahead of USC? In one set of rankings this week, that’s true. The Trojans and Bruins both have huge games this coming weekend in L.A.

Although Caleb Williams and No. 6 (USA TODAY Coaches Poll ranking) USC never trailed against Arizona State, the Trojans also couldn’t pull away during a fairly average first half. “Average” is measured by the Trojans’ newly ambitious standards under coach Lincoln Riley.

Williams and the Trojans found their edge in the second half, and they used it to slice straight through the Sun Devils on the way to another big win 42-25 at home.

That result, along with UCLA’s win over Washington, led to a shuffle in some new rankings this week.

USC dropped one spot to No. 10 in the re-ranking of FBS teams done by Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports.

UCLA is No. 9, one spot ahead of the Trojans.

Senior quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson led UCLA (5-0 overall, 2-0 Pac-12) to its first signature win of the season, 40-32 in the Rose Bowl over previously No.15 Washington.

USC has a big chance against Washington State and Utah to impress pollsters and voters in the next few weeks.

Texas Football: Five players to watch vs. Oklahoma

Keep an eye on these Longhorns against Oklahoma this weekend.

Texas and Oklahoma get together in the Cotton Bowl this week for the annual Red River Shootout.

The Longhorns and Sooners have their backs against the wall in this one. Each team enters with a 3-2 record, hoping to stay alive in the Big 12 title race. Neither program enters this matchup ranked for the first time since 1998.

Texas built up a bit of confidence with a strong showing vs. West Virginia last week. Hudson Card and Xavier Worthy led the Horns to a 38-20 win.

Oklahoma is off to a nightmare start to Big 12 play. Losses to Kansas State and TCU have the Sooners at 0-2 in league play. Brent Venables needs to flip the momentum in a hurry.

This rivalry has been a bit lopsided over the past few years as Oklahoma has won six of the last seven. Steve Sarkisian and Texas are facing pressure to start turning the momentum in the series in a hurry.

Here is a look at five Longhorns to keep an eye on against Oklahoma on Saturday.

Uiagalelei still outsider looking in according to latest Top 10 QB Rankings

Clemson’s DJ Uiagalelei was still noticeably absent from USA Today’s Top 10 quarterbacks despite two back-to-back ranked wins.

It seems Clemson’s DJ Uiagalelei may still be an outsider looking in.

In USA TODAY’s latest college football Top 10 quarterback rankings, the starting quarterback was still noticeably missing from the list despite having two impressive back-to-back wins over top-ranked ACC opponents in Wake Forest and NC State.

The college football quarterback rankings by USA TODAY’s Paul Myerberg ranked Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud as the top dog followed by Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker (previously 3) and Alabama’s Bryce Young to round out the top 3. In addition, Myerberg included Caleb Williams (Southern California), Sam Hartman (Wake Forest), Jalon Daniels (Kansas), Stetson Bennett (Georgia), Drake Maye (North Carolina), J.J. McCarthy (Michigan) and Will Rogers (Mississippi State) in the top 10.

Sophomore Drake Maye joined Sam Hartman as the lone pair of ACC quarterbacks ranked within in top 10. Clemson remains the only top 5 team to not have a quarterback included.

Caleb Williams rising in this week’s College Wire Heisman Poll

In the latest Heisman Poll from the College Wire editorial team, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud still leads the way but Caleb Williams is gaining traction.

A new week of college football games is in the books with Week 6 set to take center stage this weekend.

C.J. Stroud is continuing to lead the way this week after the Buckeyes took care of Rutgers over the weekend. USC signal caller [autotag]Caleb Williams[/autotag] saw his stock rise and overtook Alabama QB Bryce Young as the No. 2 player in the poll.

We do have several newcomers including TCU quarterback Max Duggan after the Horned Frogs’ massive blowout win over Oklahoma. Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa also joined the group after his performance in the win over Michigan State.

Illinois running back Chase Brown also crept into this week’s poll after his Fighting Illini sent Paul Chryst and Wisconsin packing. Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs ran his way into the poll after scoring two touchdowns of 70+ yards against Arkansas.

Each editor picked their top three choices with the top candidate receiving five points, the second choice receiving three points, and the final choice receiving one point.

We break down how each of our 19 candidates fared in the poll, ties are listed in alphabetical order.

Former Fox executive is skeptical that Big Ten would be a revenue winner for Oregon and Washington

The same executive who put Oregon’s media rights value $15M lower than Stanford now says the Ducks and Huskies wouldn’t get a full revenue share in the Big Ten.

When realignment theater became the central topic in college sports this past summer, following USC’s announced move to the Big Ten, one of the big surprises in the first few weeks of speculation and analysis was that Oregon’s value to Fox Sports and the Big Ten was not as high as many people thought.

A Fox Sports executive estimated Oregon’s annual value at $30 million. Stanford’s value was $45 million. How many people thought that was the case?

That same Fox executive offered another surprising line of analysis a few days ago.

Bob Thompson, an Oregon graduate, is that very same Fox executive. He believes that “staying where you’re at” is the best move for Oregon and Washington, given the soon-to-expand College Football Playoff.

Moving to the Big Ten doesn’t add up on a financial level for Oregon and Washington, according to Thompson, who has negotiated numerous media rights deals with college conferences.

“The expansion of the (playoff) and the fact there are likely going to be automatic bids for a number of conference champions is great for the Pac-12,” Thompson said on Canzano and Wilner: The Podcast.

Notre Dame is reportedly the only school mentioned directly in the subsection of the Big Ten’s media rights contract that deals with expansion.

Here’s more from Jon Wilner at the Wilner Hotline:

“The only one that pencils out … is Notre Dame,” Thompson said. “And I don’t think that if Oregon and Washington — and even throw in Stanford and Cal, if they went out there — that they’re going to get a full share.”

The Big Ten contract, which was announced in August, is set to pay each school more than $70 million in the second half of the decade, thanks to a three-pronged partnership with Fox, NBC and CBS.

In order for West Coast teams to earn a full share, the networks must be willing to pay them approximately $70 million per year over the life of the seven-year contract.

In other words, adding Oregon, UW, Stanford and Cal to create a western division would cost Big Ten media partners an additional $280 million per year for seven years — or $2 billion in total.

If Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal are not assigned $70 million annual valuations by the TV networks, there would be two options: 1) Pay every school the same amount, which would be less than the $70 million the 16 are scheduled to earn; or 2) Pay the four new members less than the other 16.

“They’d have to come out at a discount,” said Thompson, who negotiated media deals with the Pac-12 during his tenure at Fox Sports. “And it would be a significant discount, probably not a whole lot more than you’re going to get staying in the Pac-12.”

5 things we learned from Texas A&M’s 42-24 loss to Mississippi State

5 things we learned from Texas A&M’s 42-24 loss to Mississippi State

Texas A&M (3-2) is on the outside looking in after five games played in the 2022 college football season, dropping their second game of the year against the Mississippi State Bulldogs 42-24 among a very loud (cowbells!), and very intimidating Davis Wade Stadium last Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies trailed 14-0 going into halftime after consistently stalling on offense, while missed opportunities on defense kept them from swinging any sort of momentum their way, while the problems continued to pile up throughout the rest of the game. After a Randy Bond 24-yard field goal, the Aggies began to find some offensive rhythm on their next possession, but after a second consecutive field goal attempt, the Bulldogs blocked the kick and returned it 50-yards for a touchdown to take a 21-3 lead, as the dam officially broke wide open, and the blowout proceeded. For the game, Devon Achane led the rushing attack with 16 carries for 111 yards, while Moose Muhammad III led the team in receiving with 6 receptions, 119 yards, and 1 touchdown.

On top of what is already an embarrassing defeat, The Aggies have dropped out of both the AP and USA TODAY Coaches poll rankings for the first time this season, mirroring their 2021 campaign almost exactly, as the team would lose their matchup against the Bulldogs, drop to 3-2, and face the No.1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide a week later (we all know how that game ended).

In preparation for their game against the newly named No.1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M is once again looking to prove that they still have plenty to fight for this season.

Here are 5 things we learned from Texas A&M’s 42-24 loss to The Mississippi State Bulldogs last Saturday:

Former Ohio State first-round draft pick signed by the Arizona Cardinals

Former Rimington Trophy winner, Billy Price gets another shot out west after signing a deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

Former Ohio State center and 2017 Rimington Trophy winner, Billy Price, was signed by the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday. Price had spent the first part of the 2022 season on the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad.

Price was a first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018. The former Buckeye spent three years in the Queen City appearing in 42 games and starting 19. Price was then traded to the New York Giants for B.J. Hill and a seventh-round pick in 2021. Hill became a key piece in Cincinnati’s run to Super Bowl LVI.

Price played in 16 games for the Giants and started 15 of those games. He would not resign with the Giants, eventually landing in Las Vegas before being scooped up by the Cardinals.

Price should be able to add depth to a Cardinal team looking to make another playoff run. The Cardinals currently sit 2-2 in the NFC West tied for first place.
