Jeffery has been out since last season after suffering a Lisfranc injury and although the Eagles didn’t put the star wide receiver on the PUP list, he’ll miss his fifth straight game this season.

Fantasy football: 5 sleepers to start, 5 starters to sit in Week 5

Fantasy football starts, sits, sleepers for Week 5.

Another week down early in the 2020 fantasy football campaign. Whether you’re off to a hot start or were slow out of the gate, finding the right players to start and sit each week will be key to your success.

With that, here are five sleepers to start and five starters to sit in fantasy football Week 5:

QB Justin Herbert

at Saints

Also someone who was available on the wavier wire this week, the rookie has been pretty impressive since being inserted into the lineup. He’s averaging 310 yards per game and is up against the Saints this week, who’ve allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season.

RB Brian Hill

vs. Panthers

After a solid Week 3, Brian Hill had a dud for the Panthers while Todd Gurley ran wild. But the Falcons play the Carolina Panthers, who have allowed very few points to opposing quarterbacks, while allowing the fifth-most to opposing running backs this season. Both Hill and Gurley are must starts.

RB Devonta Freeman

at Cowboys

The Giants got the ball into Devonta Freeman’s hands double-digit carries last week, plus four catches. One can envision them working him in and increasing the workload against the Titans, who allow the second-most rushing yards in the NFL at 172.5 yards per game.

WR Justin Jefferson

at Seahawks

Justin Jefferson has solidified himself, following his Week 3 breakout with another big game last week. Can he make it three in a row? Some would think yes because the Seahawks allow the most point against opposing wide receivers this season.

WR Brandin Cooks

at Jaguars

The Texans are a mess right now, and Brandin Cooks is at the center of it after having no catches last week. However, that won’t happen again, and Houston fired Bill O’Brien. They’ll want to come out and impress after that.

Doug Pederson provides an update on the status of Alshon Jeffery & DeSean Jackson as both near game action

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson says that Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson are both getting closer to game action

As the Eagles wait for Alshon Jeffery to make his debut and for DeSean Jackson to return to action, Pederson provided an update on the status of both players.

Jeffery has been out since last season after suffering a Lisfranc injury and although the Eagles didn’t put the star wide receiver on the PUP list, he’ll still likely miss his fifth straight game this season.

Jackson left the Eagles tie with the Bengals after suffering a hamstring injury and he’s been day to day since.

The Philadelphia Eagles are working to get healthy at the right time and are looking to get two of their most valuable defenders back in the fold. The Eagles have activated the 21-day practice window for defensive end Vinny Curry and cornerback Craig James.

Curry (hamstring) and defensive back Craig James (thigh) suffered “significant injuries” in the Week 1 loss to the Washington Football Team and had been on short term injured reserve ever since.

James will add depth to a cornerback unit that’s been banged up and searching for depth.

Philadelphia Eagles host LB Dante Olson for a visit & workout

The Philadelphia Eagles had undrafted free agent linebacker Dante Olson in for a visit after cutting him during training camp

With the Philadelphia Eagles dealing with injuries at significant positions and linebacker T.J. Edwards set to miss time with a hamstring injury, the Birds had a familiar face in for a workout at the NovaCare Complex.

Former Eagles undrafted free agent and Montana star linebacker Dante Olson was in town for a visit.

Olson was the 2019 Buck Buchanan Award winner, which is given to the most outstanding defensive player in the FCS. A tackling machine at Montana in the last two seasons.

Olson started 25 of 47 games at Montana and during his final season, he set the Big Sky Conference’s single-season record for tackles with 179 and made 26 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, three interceptions, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. In the game that put him on the map, Olson registered 14 tackles against Oregon.

A smart and instinctive ball-hawk, Olson plays in the mold of T.J. Edwards.
