Colts’ 2022 training camp preview: Interior offensive line

Previewing the Colts interior offensive line entering training camp.

The Indianapolis Colts are less than two weeks away from the start of training camp at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield.

With a new quarterback in town for the fifth consecutive season, the offensive line is also expecting to look a bit different than it did in 2021. The core of the group remains intact, but one spot on the interior will have a new starter.

The departure of Mark Glowinski, who signed with the New York Giants, and Chris Reed, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings, left a void at the starting right guard spot this offseason.

Taking a look at how many roster spots are up for grabs as the Colts enter training camp.

The Indianapolis Colts will carry their 90-man roster into training camp at Westfield in less than two weeks, working to cut the group down to 53 players before the start of the 2022 season.

While there are several spots already locked up heading into training camp, there are a number of roster spots on the 53-man that are up for grabs. But just how many spots are we talking about?

In this fun little diddy of an exercise, we are going to examine which players are locks at each position and how many spots are likely to be up for grabs.

Because we don’t know the exact number of players the Colts will keep at each position, this isn’t an exact science. They could wind up keeping more running backs than we expect. They could keep fewer linebackers. At this point, it’s an educated guess.

Here’s a closer look at the roster locks and the roster spots still available as the Colts approach training camp in 2022:

Colts’ 2022 training camp preview: Tight Ends

The TE room is now being led by Mo Alie-Cox. Here’s our training camp preview of the position.

The Indianapolis Colts are just a few weeks away from returning to Westfield where fans will get to watch a tight end group compete for roles during training camp and the preseason.

This offseason featured the retirement of veteran Jack Doyle, who was one of the longest-tenured players on the roster in 2021. Despite still having one more year left on his contract, Doyle decided it was time to ride off into the sunset.

This expedited the process of the Colts needing to find his replacement. They re-signed Mo Alie-Cox to a three-year deal and picked up two more intriguing options during the 2022 NFL draft.

Colts’ 2022 training camp preview: Wide receivers

Previewing the Colts WR corps entering training camp.

The Indianapolis Colts are just a few weeks away from the start of training camp, and one of the biggest question marks on the roster comes at the wide receiver position.

While the Colts have remained bullish on the talent they currently have in the room, outside analysts believe this room will be a major liability for new quarterback Matt Ryan.

As T.Y. Hilton remains a free agent, the Colts didn’t add anyone to the room during free agency. They did use a second-round pick on an intriguing prospect out of Cincinnati, though.
