Chicago Bears vs Green Bay Packers Game Preview

Why Chicago Bears Will Win

Did it look like Aaron Rodgers was having a good time against the Minnesota Vikings in the 23-7 loss?

Whine about your wide receivers without saying you don’t like your wide receivers – that’s life for 12 now without Davante Adams.

Minnesota loaded up to stop the run, but it didn’t really work – Green Bay just didn’t hand the ball off. When it did, the offense worked, but 18 carries weren’t enough. The team fell behind because it couldn’t cover Justin Jefferson, the Packer receivers weren’t coming through when they got their chances, and now the pressure is on to make the O go.

Yes, the Chicago win over San Francisco last week was played in a monsoon, but the Bear defense showed up, the secondary should be able to handle the Packer receiving corps that’s missing Allen Lazard, and …

Week 2 CFN NFL Expert Picks

Why Green Bay Packers Will Win

Chicago doesn’t have Justin Jefferson.

The Minnesota receiver ripped up the Packers for 184 yards and two touchdowns, but Chicago’s offense would be happy to get that many total passing yards.

Justin Fields was able to come up with one big throw to Dante Pettis after everything else broke down, and now the Packer pass rush that wasn’t there last week will dial it up against the abysmal Chicago offensive line.

The Bears ran for just 99 yards last week averaging 2.7 yards per carry. That’s going to be the norm.

And yes, Green Bay won’t ignore the running game this week because it won’t be behind. Expect twice as many carries as there were against Minnesota, and expect the combination of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon to take over right away.

And …

Week 2 NFL Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

The Green Bay receivers are going to be fine.

There isn’t an Adams-level player around anymore, but the reigning MVP is going to spread it around, he’ll find a nice groove, and the Packers will come up with a steady-not-spectacular win.

Methodical can work, especially against a Chicago team that’s going to struggle to score. That, and Aaron Rodgers doesn’t lose to the Bears.

CFN Predictions & Game Previews

Bears rookie Dominique Robinson already proving to be a draft bargain

The Chicago Bears appear to have landed a huge steal in fifth-round rookie Dominique Robinson

It’s rare for an NFL team to land an instant-impact pass rusher in the fifth round of the draft, but it looks like that’s what the Chicago Bears just did with rookie Dominique Robinson.

The Miami (OH) product made quite a splash in his regular-season debut, tallying 1.5 sacks in Sunday’s upset win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Robinson’s performance is even more impressive considering he often lined up against All-Pro tackle Trent Williams, even beating him for one of those sacks.

While the Bears are sure to miss Khalil Mack after trading him away, it looks like they’ve found themselves a Day 3 gem in Robinson, who is already making a big impact at the next level.

San Francisco 49ers vs Chicago Bears Game Preview

Why San Francisco 49ers Will Win

Yeah, the Chicago Bear offensive line – it’s not good.

There’s a massive talent problem across the Bears – except at quarterback – but it’s the offensive front that’s going to be the biggest problem.

Chicago has Justin Fields, and the running backs aren’t bad, but the receivers are – to be nice about it – lacking, and the line is about to have a bad day against a San Francisco defensive front that’s going to bring the pass rush from all sides.

Fields is going to get bounced around a bit too much. However …

Week 1 CFN NFL Expert Picks

Why Chicago Bears Will Win

For all of the doom and gloom surrounding the Bears, Fields appears ready to make a big jump as long as he gets time to work.

The running backs really are good, and the defense should hold up just well enough to keep Trey Lance from going off.

San Francisco has playmakers, but it’s O line isn’t anything special, RB Elijah Mitchell is already banged up, and …

Week 1 NFL Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

The San Francisco defense. It’s going to come out breathing fire.

This group was third overall in the NFL last season, it was fantastic against the run, and Chicago is going to struggle to get anything moving even when Fields does get time.

Lance will be sharp enough to get by, but it’ll be a defensive struggle and the 49ers have the far, far better personnel.

WATCH: Bears rookie WR Velus Jones Jr. shows off elite speed

Watch Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. show off his impressive speed against the Seattle Seahawks

The Chicago Bears waited until the third round of the 2022 NFL draft to select a wide receiver, but they got themselves a burner in Tennessee’s Velus Jones Jr., who is already showing off his elite speed in preseason action.

Jones may be 25 years old as a rookie, but nobody will care about that if he’s racing away from opposing defenders and would-be tacklers.

Watch the video above to see Jones make the Seattle Seahawks look silly on a long punt return during Thursday night’s preseason game.

Report: Bears finalizing rookie deal with 2nd-round pick Jaquan Brisker

The Chicago Bears are finalizing a four-year rookie contract for safety Jaquan Brisker just before the start of training camp

Just as training camp is about to begin, the Chicago Bears are finally getting a contract ironed out with one of their top picks in the 2022 NFL draft.

The Bears are finalizing a four-year rookie deal with safety Jaquan Brisker, per Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune.

A second-round pick out of Penn State, Brisker was a dynamic playmaker on the back end of the defense for the Nittany Lions, and the Bears are hoping he can have the same impact at the next level.

Now, the Bears can turn their attention to star linebacker Roquan Smith, who isn’t expected to report to training camp due to his own contract situation.

[listicle id=638330]

Why haven’t the Bears signed 2nd-round pick Jaquan Brisker yet?

Get the latest on why Chicago Bears rookie safety Jaquan Brisker might miss the start of training camp

Training camp is about to kick off for all 32 NFL teams, which means it’s crunch time for any draft picks who haven’t signed their rookie contracts just yet.

One such rookie is Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker, a second-round pick out of Penn State, who isn’t expected to be in attendance when camp begins.

What’s the holdup? Here are the details from Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune:

Barring significant developments in the coming days, according to sources, Brisker’s holdout could extend past the full team’s reporting date next week and has the potential to last into August.

It is believed one of the main snags in contract negotiations centers around the amount of guaranteed money the team is willing to offer for the third year of Brisker’s four-year deal.

Training camp reps are obviously vital for every player on the roster, but particularly for rookies who don’t have any experience at the pro level. As one of the two defensive backs taken by the Bears at the top of the second round, expectations are high for Brisker, especially considering Chicago didn’t have a first-round pick in this year’s draft.

It’s rare to see extensive rookie holdouts these days, thanks in large part to the set rookie wage scale that was installed with the most recent collective bargaining agreement between the league and the NFLPA. This one looks like it might be one of the rare exceptions.
