Jamal Agnew’s return of Matt Prater’s missed 68-yard field goal gave the Jaguars a 13-7 halftime lead.

The Arizona Cardinals defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-19 Sunday afternoon on the road to start the year 3-0. However, one of the biggest plays of the game was one made by the Jaguars.

It came as the first half ended.

The Jaguars had just scored a touchdown to tie the game at 7. There were only 28 seconds left in the half.

But the Cardinals got the ball to midfield before the half ended and attempted a 68-yard field goal. Matt Prater had hit a 62-yard field goal in Week 2 to end the half.

This time, it did not go as well for the Cardinals.

The kick was short and the ball was fielded by Jamal Agnew nine yards deep in the end zone. He began the return and Cardinals player after Cardinals player missed tackles. In the end, Agnew went 109 yards for the touchdown.

Josh Lambo missed the extra point, but the Jaguars entered halftime with the lead and with momentum in their favor.

It was an amazing play. Watch it in the embedded video above.

Cardinals lose both starting guards in first half vs. Jaguars

Both Justin Murray and Justin Pugh exited the first half with back injuries.

The Arizona Cardinals entered the weekend injuries on the offensive line. Entering the second half of their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they lost both their starting guards.

Justin Murray started at right guard. Kelvin Beachum was inactive with a rib injury. Josh Jones, who had been the starting right guard, started at tackle, his natural position, and Murray got the start at guard.

He left the game late in the first half and was replaced by Max Garcia.

On the final play of the first half, when Jamal Agnew returned Matt Prater’s missed 68-yard field goal attempt for a touchdown, starting left guard Justin Pugh had to be helped off the field.

At the start of the second half, the team announced both were questionable to return with back injuries.

Sean Harlow, signed from the practice squad on Saturday, replaced Pugh.

Jaguars inactives: CBs CJ Henderson, Tre Herndon out vs. Cardinals

The Cardinals will face a depleted Jaguars secondary in Week 3.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have struggled in their pass defense so far through two games this season. They could struggle even more in Week 3.

They face the Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Kyler Murray, who enters Week 3 with the second-most passing yards in the league.

The Jaguars will do it without two of their three top cornerbacks. CJ Henderson and Tre Herndon are among the Jaguars’ inactive players.

This is the full list:

  • CB CJ Henderson
  • CB Tre Herndon
  • DT Roy Robertson-Harris
  • DT Jay Tufele
  • OLB Jordan Smith

Robertson-Harris will be missed, as he is a big reason why the Jaguars have been tough against the run. Smith’s absence is another hole from the edge.

The Cardinals have averaged 36 points per game through two games. They have a chance to put up a lot of points again.

Cardinals inactives: DeAndre Hopkins, Byron Murphy, Marco Wilson to play

The Arizona Cardinals will have all starters available except for right tackle Kelvin Beachum.

The Arizona Cardinals released their list of inactive players for their Week 3 road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Of the players who were questionable for the game, only one will not play.

Right tackle Kelvin Beachum, who has a rib injury, is inactive, meaning Justin Murray will start at right tackle.

Receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who did not practice all week for the Cardinals because of a rib injury, is active and will start. Also active are cornerbacks Byron Murphy and Marco Wilson. Wilson left last week’s game with an ankle injury. Murphy hurt his ankle during the week of practice. Both were questionable for the game and will be active and will start.

Here is the full list of inactives for the Cardinals:

  • QB Chris Streveler
  • RB Eno Benjamin
  • CB Tay Gowan
  • CB Luq Barcoo
  • WR Andy Isabella
  • OT Kelvin Beachum
  • OLB Victor Dimukeje

With the return of Antoine Wesley at receiver, he will be active instead of Isabella. Isabella has not yet played an offensive snap this season. He played one snap on special teams last week.

With the return of Devon Kennard, who missed last week with a hamstring injury, Dimukeje is inactive.

Streveler, Benjamin, Gowan and Barcoo are inactive for the third straight week. Benjamin has yet to dress for a game in his NFL career.

‘Madden’ sim has Cardinals holding on to beat Jaguars 31-28

In this simulation, the Cardinals fall behind early, score 24 straight points and allow a couple of fourth-quarter touchdowns to make it interesting.

Through two games this season, the Arizona Cardinals are 2-0 and the simulations of their first two games on ‘Madden NFL 22’ have not gone the way the games have.

When the Cardinals blew out the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, the game predicted a Titans blowout. In Week 2, when the Cardinals barely held on for a win over the Minnesota Vikings, the game had the Cardinals winning handily.

As they take on the Jaguars today, the Madden simulation had the Cardinals falling behind, building a big lead and then letting the Jaguars make it close. They beat the Jaguars 31-28 in this week’s game simulation.

The Jaguars build a 10-0 lead in the first quarter with a field goal and a touchdown pass from quarterback Trevor Lawrence to receiver D.J. Chark.

The Cardinals make it 10-7 with a one-yard Chase Edmonds touchdown run and then the Jags make it 13-7 with under a minute before halftime with a 33-yard field goal.

The Cardinals move down the field before halftime and get a 31-yard field goal as time expires. It is the first three of 24 straight points the Cardinals score.

Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray throws three second-half touchdown passes to make it 31-13 but Lawrence throws two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to make it 31-28, but the Cardinals run out the clock.

Murray has 262 passing yards, three touchdowns an no interceptions. Edmonds rushes for 50 yards and a score. Receiver DeAndre Hopkins has eight catches for 130 yards and one touchdown, A.J. Green has seven for 73 and Kirk hauls in seven for 38 and two touchdowns.

The Cardinals pick off Lawrence once and sack him four times — two from J.J. Watt and one each by Chandler Jones and Zach Allen.

For Jacksonville, Lawrence finishes with 335 passing yards, three touchdown passes and an interception.

James Robinson has 56 rushing yards, while Marvin Jones leads all receivers with 11 catches for 156 yards. Josh Allen sacks Murray twice.

This isn’t real life but it would be a Cardinals win if it were to happen.
