Jags have close to full participation in practice Thursday

The Jags had all but two players participate in their practice session Thursday in TE Seth DeValve and Dede Westbrook.

The Jacksonville Jaguars only had two players to sit out of practice Thursday for their upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans in tight end Seth DeValve (oblique) and receiver Dede Westbrook (illness), who was a new addition to the injury report. Aside from those two every player on the injury report participated to some capacity.

Receivers D.J. Chark Jr. (hamstring) and Chris Conley (hamstring) and nickelback D.J. Hayden (hip/wrist) were the three players from Wednesday’s injury report who were upgraded from limited to full participation. Safety Ronnie Harrison (eye) and offensive tackle Cam Robinson (knee) also were full participants.

Veterans Calais Campbell (back) and Brandon Linder (shoulder) were the only two limited participants on Thursday’s report. Both were on last week’s injury reports for the same injuries but were able to play in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will face yet another division foe this weekend: the Tennessee Titans. After getting beaten handily in back-to-back weeks, the Jaguars are hoping they can right the ship and get back on track.

The Titans team the Jags will face this Sunday is a completely different team than the one they faced Week 3 as they’re playing better football and currently have a 5-5 record. Does that mean the results will be the same though?

Here are three keys to victory against Tennessee:

Give Fournette the ball

Through the first nine games of the season, the Jaguars heavily leaned on running back Leonard Fournette. At one point and time, Fournette was the AFC’s leading rusher and scrimmage leader. The past two games, however, the team has seemingly forgotten how much of an impact Fournette has on this offense.

In his most recent games against the Texans and Colts, Fournette has been given just 19 carries and has only accumulated 63 yards and no touchdowns. The team has curiously gone away from their bread and butter: a strong run game. Coincidence or not, the Jaguars have also struggled mightily in those games. If the Jaguars wish to return to winning, they need to go back to their identity.

It all starts with Fournette.

WR DJ Chark amongst several players to surface on injury report after battle with Colts

Two of the Jags’ top receivers have found themselves on the injury report after Week 11’s loss to the Colts.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had just one player on their final injury report for Week 11 but exited the game with some new injuries to deal with. Receivers DJ Chark and Chris Conley seemingly were amongst those players who sustained injuries during the Jags’ last game against the Indianapolis Colts as both surfaced on the team’s first injury report for Week 12 with hamstring injuries. Despite their injuries, however, both players were limited.

Joining Chark and Conley as limited participants were nickelback D.J. Hayden (hip/wrist), center Brandon Linder (shoulder) and defensive lineman Calais Campbell (back). All three were on Week 11’s injury report as well, however, Hayden was on the report with a different injury (neck/shoulder).

Offensive tackle Cam Robinson (knee) and safety Ronnie Harrison (eye) were full participants Wednesday after surfacing on the injury report with the same injuries they had on Week 11’s report.

The Jags’ lone non-participant who surfaced on Wednesday’s injury report was tight end Seth DeValve (oblique), who was the only player on Week 11’s final injury report and missed last Sunday’s game.

Jaguars nominate Calais Campbell for 2019 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award

Calais Campbell earned his second consecutive nomination for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award Thursday.

It’s that time of the year where each of the NFL’s 32 teams selects a nominee for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, and just as they did last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars have elected to go with team captain Calais Campbell.

The award, of course, is named after the late Art Rooney Sr., who was the founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and is a Pro Football Hall-of-Famer in Canton. The award has existed since 2014 and is given to a player who shows exemplary sportsmanship qualities on the field annually.

Last season, Campbell was named one of eight semifinalists for the award which ultimately went to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Some of the notables who joined him in the process were quarterback Andrew Luck (Colts), defensive backs Eric Weddle (Ravens) and Tramon Williams (Packers) to name a few.

The winner will be announced at the NFL Honors show which will air on Fox on Saturday, Feb. 1. The winner will also be awarded a $25,000 donation to the charity of the players choice.

Jags list 3 players as limited on initial injury report for Week 11

The Jags had full participation Wednesday as they prepare the the Colts.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released their first injury report since returning from their bye week Wednesday and every player participated in practice. However, there were three players who were limited in defensive lineman Calais Campbell, center Brandon Linder (shoulder) and offensive tackle Cam Robinson (knee).

Wednesday marked the first time in which Linder and Campbell surfaced on the injury report for their respective injuries, but both  could be precautionary measures. As for Robinson, he was sideline for half of the preseason after recovering from a left ACL tear from 2018. He also hyper-extended his right knee in early September, however, with him being limited it appears the injury he’s listed for isn’t severe.

Receiver Dede Westbrook and nickelback D.J. Hayden were full participants Wednesday with neck/shoulder injuries. Meanwhile, linebackers Leon Jacobs and Quincy Williams also had the same status with hamstring injuries.

2020 Pro Bowl: Voting is now live for your favorite Jaguars

Jags fans can now vote for their favorite players to make the Pro Bowl.

As of Tuesday Nov. 12, Jacksonville Jaguars fans can now vote for their favorite players to be named to the 2020 Pro Bowl.

Just as they did last season players, coaches, and fans will all have a say in what players are voted into the Pro Bowl as each party will represent one-third of the voting process. Both the National Football Conference and American Football Conference will name 44 total players to their respective rosters and fan voting will end in exactly a month (Dec. 12). Afterward, the players who are nominated will be announced on NFL Network on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. EST.

While the Jags haven’t quite had the season they were hoping for, they have several players worthy of making the AFC roster. Before their bye week, running back Leonard Fournette was the AFC’s leading rusher with 831 yards, while DJ Chark was previously the AFC’s leading receiver with 692 yards.

On the defensive side, Calais Campbell has continued to defy his age as Pro Football Focus has him graded as the league’s second-best interior defender (91.5). Meanwhile, his comrades Yannick Ngakoue and rookie Josh Allen have been quite the pass-rushing duo, with four and seven sacks, respectively.

Lastly, place kicker Josh Lambo has absolutely been money, going 22-of-22 on his field goal attempts. He has more attempts than any other kicker who is 100 percent in the category, which makes a strong case for him to be considered the league’s best.

The Pro Bowl will take place just south of Jacksonville in Orlando, Fla., so fans of the Jags will be just two hours away. The game will take place on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at Camping World Stadium at 3 p.m. EST via ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ABC and Disney XD.
