Former No. 1 draft pick Kellen Winslow II gets 14-year prison sentence

Kellen Winslow II was called a “sexual predator” when sentenced to 14 years in prison in a California court.

The sentencing of former Cleveland Browns No. 1 pick Kellen Winslow II took place on Wednesday in Southern California. The son of the Hall of Fame tight end by the same name will serve 14 years in prison for multiple sex charges.

The 37-year-old appeared via videoconference at the hearing in San Diego Superior Court in Vista. Winslow II declined to comment before his sentence, saying his lawyers had advised him not to speak.

“In the future, I do plan to tell my story,” Winslow said.

Per The AP:

Winslow was convicted of forcible rape, rape of an unconscious person, assault with intent to commit rape, indecent exposure and lewd conduct in public. The forcible rape involved a woman who was homeless in his hometown of Encinitas, a beach community north of San Diego.

The 14-year-sentence was the maximum allowed under a plea deal.

San Diego County Superior Court Judge Blaine Bowman said Winslow can only be described with “two words, and that is sexual predator.”

The plea deal, which was revealed recently, included a new guilty plea by Winslow for assaulting a hitchhiker with the intent to commit rape in March 2018 – a woman in her mid-50s who was known in the case as Jane Doe 1. That new guilty plea replaces a guilty plea he made in November 2019 for sexual battery against the same woman.

Winslow attended the University of Miami. The sixth draft pick in 2004, he played in the NFL for 10 seasons, until 2013.

DeMarcus Ware, Myles Garrett show incredible box jump hops

DeMarcus Ware is 38 and retired that doesn’t mean he couldn’t show the Browns’ Myles Garrett a thing or two about box jumping.

Young legs and old legs still have plenty of leaping ability.

Check out DeMarcus Ware and Myles Garrett as they show off plenty of hops when it comes to the box jump.

Ware retired after 12 seasons and 138.5 sacks with Dallas and Denver in 2017.

He is 38 years old and still can spring.

Garrett, meanwhile, is only 25 and has 42.5 sacks since the Browns chose him No. 1 overall out of Texas A&M in 2017.

Some TV network might try and turn this into a sponsored competition. Everyone remembers “Superstars,” right?

Johnny Manziel working out toward Fan Controlled Football debut

Johnny Manziel is working out in Arizona as the start of Fan Controlled Football start nears

Johnny Manziel’s career has seen incredible success — in college — and failure — at many stops in the pros.

What seems to be the last chance at salvaging a once-promising football life is going to start on Feb. 13 when the 7-on-7 Fan Control Football League kicks off its inaugural season.

Video of Manziel prepping for the season popped on Wednesday. And he’s working out in Scottsdale, Az, under the watchful eye of league commissioner Ray Austin.

This has to be the ultimate reality check for Manziel, who played in front of thousands and thousands of fans during SEC games in college and his time with the Cleveland Browns.

The FCF draft takes place Feb. 10. There will be franchise players so expect Manziel to be one of those who sticks with the team that claims him.

This is the Alabama game the former Aggie star speaks of in the video.

Patrick Mahomes celebrates Chad Henne on Twitter

Andy Reid with a gutsy call and the Chiefs advance

Chad Henne saved the game for the Kansas City Chiefs.

With Patrick Mahomes out due to a concussion, a 35-year-old backup quarterback came in and delivered two massive plays on the final drive Sunday with the Cleveland Browns.

Henne scrambled for 13-plus yards on a third-and-14 and then hit Tyreek Hill with a short pass on fourth-and-inches to seal the 22-17 victory with a first down.

On CBS, Tony Romo was certain the Chiefs weren’t going to snap the ball. Rather, take a timeout and then punt. He cited the Chiefs’ body language.

However, Henne snapped into action and threw the pass that gave the Chiefs their third straight home AFC Championship Game.

That equals the mark of the Philadelphia Eagles, who were coached during their run by Andy Reid, the same man who is coaching the Chiefs currently.

Mahomes is concussed but that didn’t prevent him from celebrating his fellow Chiefs QB.

The game will be at Arrowhead Stadium on Jan. 24, televised by CBS.

Watch: Karl Joseph picks off Chad Henne for Cleveland

Chad Henne with an awful pass that turned into a Cleveland Browns interception

Chad Henne is no Patrick Mahomes. Then again, no one is.

The reserve quarterback, pressed into action in the second half when the Super Bowl MVP was knocked out of Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs-Cleveland Browns Divisional round game, made a mistake.

The deep pass seemed intended for Cleveland’s Karl Joseph in the end zone because no one wearing a red jersey was close.

Joseph made a big play in the Wild-Card round falling on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ bad snap on the first play of the game for a touchdown.

The Chiefs escaped damage against Cleveland as the defense held and they forced a punt.

Who is Chad Henne, Patrick Mahomes’ backup for the Chiefs

With Patrick Mahomes out, the Chiefs have turned the offense over to Chad Henne. Chad who?

The backup quarterback is one play away from being in the game.

Chad Henne has spent plenty of time as a backup and on Sunday he was thrust into the AFC Divisional round game between the Cleveland Browns and his Kansas City Chiefs when Patrick Mahomes was knocked out.

What do we know about the veteran QB?

He played college ball at Michigan and Henne was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round (57th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. He was the fourth quarterback chosen, following Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Brian Brohm. His left tackle at Michigan, Jake Long, was the first selection of the draft and would again play alongside Henne in Miami

Henne played five years for Jacksonville, four for Miami, and is in his second season with the Chiefs. Henne was a Chief in 2018 and came back to back up Mahomes this season.

Henne, 35, started the final game of 2020 when Mahomes was rested and the Chiefs lost to the Los Angeles Chargers.

His start prior came in 2014 as a member of the Jaguars. Overall, Henne is 18-36 as a starter.

He threw for 13,208 yards and 60 touchdowns against 63 interceptions.

Watch: Woozy Patrick Mahomes out for game with concussion

Patrick Mahomes left the Divisional round game with the Browns and is being checked for a concussion

The Kansas City Chiefs have the lead over the Cleveland Browns.

However, the defending Super Bowl champions have a major concern.

All-World quarterback Patrick Mahomes has gone into the locker room and was followed by an NFL neurologist to check for a concussion.

He was deemed out for the game with a concussion.

Chad Henne replaced the current Super Bowl MVP and 2019 league MVP and led the team to a field goal.

The incident comes a day after current MVP Lamar Jackson left the Baltimore Ravens’ loss to the Buffalo Bills due to concussion protocol.

Watch: Did refs miss helmet-to-helmet penalty on Chiefs?

It sure looks like Daniel Sorensen of the Chiefs used the crown of his helmet on Rashard Higgins

The Cleveland Browns looked like they were going to score their first touchdown in the second quarter Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Then disaster struck.

Rashard Higgins was inches from the end zone when he fumbled and six points turned into a touchback and Kansas City ball.

However, CBS officials analyst Gene Steratore felt the officials blew it. They should have called Daniel Sorensen for a helmet-to-helmet hit and a penalty.

The crown of the helmet is clearly used in making the tackle on Higgins.
