Mike Tyson nearly knocked his own trainer out during a workout

Welp.

Mike Tyson is getting ready to fight Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match that’s scheduled for November.

But it feels like Tyson isn’t exactly treating it as an exhibition.

We’ve seen the former heavyweight champ post video after video of ferocious training sessions, showing how scary he is at age 53.

That’s led Jones to say this, via Sky Sports: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy.

The latest video? Tyson’s going hard with his trainer … and Tyson nails him right in the face with a hook.

Welp. Good luck, Roy.

Watch: Heavyweight boxer wins with stunning uppercut KO

See one of the best boxing KOs of the year.

Heavyweight Dillian Whyte seemed to have Alexander Povetkin on the ropes in the fourth round of their WBC interim heavyweight title bout on Saturday, scoring two knockdowns on Povetkin to take control on the card and come close to finishing the fight early. All it took was one punch for Povetkin to earn a shocking comeback win.

Thirty seconds into the fifth round, Povetkin knocked out Whyte before he hit the floor with a vicious left uppercut. This is one of the best heavyweight KOs you’ll see all year long.

Eddie Hearn said after the bout that the two fighters will have a rematch after Whyte is able to recover.

Watch Joe George deliver a massive uppercut to knock out Marcos Escudero

Holy cow.

Joe George was trailing in scoring on two of the judges’ cards when he entered the 10th round against Marcos Escudero at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. But Escudero (10-2, 9 KOs) made a critical mistake, getting too “relaxed” in that final round, according to George, who delivered an uppercut that ended the fight in dramatic fashion.

George (11-0, 7 KOs) sent Escudero flying backward to the mat, and he couldn’t find his feet before the referee called the fight. It was a tremendous strike from George, who had been dealing with Escudero’s impressive power throughout the match. George’s strength, however, proved the winning force.

Here’s a look at the punch that won the match.

What a stunning finish.

EXCLUSIVE Video: Ex-NBA player Nate Robinson trains with heavyweight Ron Johnson

Ron “The American Dream” Johnson, who trained with Floyd Mayweather has been helping the former NBA guard train for the September fight.

When news broke that YouTuber Jake Paul would reportedly fight ex-NBA player Nate Robinson as part of the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones. Jr. undercard, it caused a tidal wave of internet chatter and opinion, an add-on to the already hyped bout between boxing legends.

While Paul has released a training/promo video regarding the bout on Instagram, not much was said by Robinson since the original news release.

Until now!

In an exclusive video to USA Today Sports, the former NBA guard sends his thanks to former heavyweight Ron “The American Dream” Johnson, the four-time boxing champā€”and current Current GBO Heavyweight Boxing Championā€”who has been working with Robinson.

[jwplayer oxmEBnZC-fVQkmegM]

Robinson also released a cut-up of the training session via Instagram, announcing his return to YouTube with Nate’s World:

The fight is scheduled for September, so it will be interesting to see how this videoā€”and Paul’sā€”ignite the social media world in the interim.

Regardless, it does touch on classic boxing nostalgia. Whether we’re talking Rocky on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art or a contender working the speed bag as the training staff watches on with a determined twinkle in their eyes, the perfect buildup surrounding a boxing match is nothing unless we get a little pre-fight training video.

It’s to boxing what cracks of bats are to baseballā€”and we are here for it!

Boxer Seniesa Estrada blitzes opponent with a stunning 7-second KO

I thought 7 seconds or less only applied to basketball?

People love to play the hypothetical game when it comes to boxing.

“If they were paying you $1 BAZILLION dollars, could you last in the ring with Pro Boxer X for 10 seconds?”

Most people would like to think, yes, of course they can. All they have to do is run around in circles until they get knocked out. That should be at least 10 seconds of time, right?

Welp. We can all scratch that idea now. If a professional boxer can’t even last 10 seconds in the ring with a champion, what hope do normal folks have? The answer is none.

WBC Silver light flyweight champion Seniesa Estrada just proved that with her latest knockout.

It only took the champ seven seconds (!!!) to knock out Miranda Atkins. She barely let her come out of her own corner!

Yo, man. That is unfair. It doesn’t even look real. Poor, poor Atkins. This is easily one of the fastest knockouts in boxing history and she’s on the wrong side of it.

But yeah, folks. There goes our hope at ever winning a bazillion dollars in the ring. Well, at least if you ever thought you had any.

YouTuber Jake Paul will reportedly fight ex-NBA player Nate Robinson

This is all so dumb.

Just when you thought the year 2020 had hit rock bottom, I regret to inform you that we have started to dig.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania, YouTuber Jake Paul will fight ex-NBA player Nate Robinson as part of the undercard of the upcoming fight between 54-year-old Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

I’m going to pray this is all for charity, because otherwise I’m not sure there’s a single redeeming thing to be said about any of this. Or anyone involved. Let’s just assume this will raise a bunch of money for charity, and hopefully a good charity, or else I’m just going to get too bummed out.

This is dumb. Everything is dumb. We’ll add more details if and when we get them, but for now, I’ll repeat: Everything is dumb.

Report: 54-year-old Mike Tyson will return to fight Roy Jones Jr. in exhibition match

Mike Tyson is getting back in the ring.

Two boxing icons and former heavyweight champions are set to return to the ring for a exhibition match later this year, according to a report from Yahoo’s Kevin Iole. 54-year-old Mike Tyson and 51-year-old Roy Jones Jr. have set a tentative September date for a fight in Los Angeles, which could be Tyson’s first fight in 15 years.

Tyson has been keeping himself in shape, and in recent months his training videos have gone viral and rumors have swirled about potential matchups. According to trainer Rafael Cordeiro, who appeared in one of Tyson’s videos, Tyson started hitting mitts for the first time in a decade in 2020, and Cordeiro believes he still has the power and speed of a 21-year-old.

Iole reports that Tyson and Jones won’t be going for devastating knockout blows in their fight, but they’ll surely draw a huge audience anyway.

Via Yahoo! Sports:

“Andy Foster, the executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, confirmed that Tyson has put a hold on that date. Foster told Yahoo Sports that he met with Tyson and Jones via Zoom recently and that the fight will be an exhibition.”

Report: Mike Tyson returning to ring, facing Roy Jones Jr. in exhibition boxing match

Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr., once a premier possibility now will apparently happen in an exhibition bout.

Iron Mike Tyson is returning to the boxing ring, per a report. Sort of.

The former heavyweight champion will face another legend, Roy Jones Jr., in an eight-round exhibition, per Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.

Tyson, 54, has been seen sparring in recent videos. This has led to some believing he has his old ferocious ring nature back.

However, Tyson has not fought since June 11, 2005, when he lost to Kevin McBride. Iron Mike has an overall mark of 50-6 with 44 KOs. Five of the losses are listed as by knockout, too.

He lost three of his last four fights before stepping away from the ring to get his life together.

Roy Jones Jr. has a record of 66-9 and last fought in 2018.

Jamie Foxx is seriously bulking up to star in Mike Tyson biopic

Foxx is ready to play Tyson for an upcoming movie.

You’ve heard actor and master impressionist Jamie Foxx do a pretty great Mike Tyson over the years.

But now, he’s transforming his body so he can actually play the former undisputed heavyweight champion in an upcoming biopic.

While appearing onĀ Catching Up with Mark Birnbaum on Instagram this week, he said he’s working on a movie where he’ll play Tyson and that he’s bulking up by doing 60 pull-ups, 60 dips and 100 push-ups as part of his workouts to get his body to look like Tyson’s did.

Then, he actually showed the results on Instagram, and WOW, he’s doing well:

Mike Tyson took his shirt off at AEW Double or Nothing and looks absolute jacked

This man is 53 years old.

Mike Tyson was one of the featured guests at All Elite Wrestling’s massive Double or Nothing event on Saturday night, and while he didn’t get in the ring, he didn’t have to.

Tyson was sitting ringside at the event, holding the championship belt for the main event match between Cody and Lance Archer. While Tyson was meant to just be there to spectate, he got involved once a couple of other ringside wrestlers ā€” Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson ā€” got booted for trying to interfere with the match.

Roberts exited, then tried to get back to the ring holding a snake in a bag. (He’s Jake the Snake … get it.) Tyson didn’t want to mess with the integrity of the title match, so he stepped in as an enforcer, taking his shirt off to intimidate Roberts.

It worked. Also, good god this man is 53 years old.

Tyson has flirted with a return to the ring at age 53, and his trainer says he could still box at the pro level … and do it well.

I am not one to doubt this man.
