Podcast: Jags Wire discusses Fournette trade, training camp standouts, Dabo Lawrence package deal

Check out the latest “Bleav in the Jags” episode where the Jags Wire crew tackles Leonard Fournette’s trade, the stars of Jags camp and more.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have wrapped up training camp and once final cuts are made it’s on to the regular season. Jags Wire Phil Smith and I reflected on the whole process and more in our latest episode of the “Bleav in the Jags Podcast.”

Joined by college coach and occasional Jags Wire contributor, Nick Trist, of the “Bleav in the Gameplan Podcast” we first visited the latest rumors which speculated the reasoning behind the Jags abruptly moving on from running back Leonard Fournette.

Afterward, we evaluated the players who’ve stood out in camp for the Jags on both the defensive and offensive ends. Nick added his perspective as a coach and discussed what he’s seen on film from each standout.

Lastly, we discussed the rumors of the Jags’ chances of acquiring Trevor Lawrence and Dabo Swinney of Clemson University as a package deal. With Nick being very familiar with Clemson’s staff, he brought some solid takes that fans don’t want to miss.

Podcast: Previewing Jags’ “Madden NFL 21” ratings, training camp stories to watch

James and Phil discussed the Jags’ Madden ratings this week on “Bleav in the Jags” and prepped fans for camp with some stories to watch.

In this week’s episode of the “Bleav in the Jaguars Podcast,” Jags Wire contributor Phil Smith and I tackled the biggest topics of the week concerning the Jacksonville Jaguars: their “Madden NFL 21” ratings and training camp.

Starting in the first half of episode 23, we gave our opinions on the Jags’ individual ratings as the Jags didn’t have a single player rated in the 90s. Afterward, we discussed the Jags’ team ratings and looked at some key player attributes.

During the second half of the show, Phil and I discussed three training camp stories to watch as camp will begin for the Jags on Tuesday, July 28. Of course, Gardner Minshew was amongst them but we also looked at a defensive category for fans to watch and discussed another specific player to watch out for when the Jags take the practice field.

Podcast: Which Jags free-agents could re-sign in 2021?

The Jags’ 2021 free-agency class is full of receivers including Dede Westbrook and Chris Conley. Who could they end up keeping though?

With the football season slowly approaching, Jags Wire contributor Phil Smith and I recorded yet another episode of the “Bleav in Jags Podcast.”

We started this week’s episode off discussing the latest in preseason and training camp news as the league announced that the preseason would be cut in half. Additionally, we discussed the contract signing of DaVon Hamilton and where he fits in the Jaguars plans heading forward.

Afterward, we discussed the latest on defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, who reportedly hasn’t changed his stance about wanting to be traded. With the deadline coming up, we also discussed the possibility of trading him to the Cleveland Browns for David Njoku as proposed by ESPN recently.

Lastly, we tackled our main topic, which was a preview of the Jags’ 2021 free-agency class. With several notable names on the list, we gave our analysis on who could stay or go with notables like Leonard Fournette, Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole, and more on the last years of their deals.

Podcast: Discussions on Jags sticking to 4-3, Adams being a fit, Vegas’ odds for them to sign Kaepernick

Bleav and Jaguars Wire’s James Johnson and Phil Smith discuss the latest in news surrounding the Jags in episode 20 of their podcast.

After a week off, the “Bleav in Jags Podcast” has returned. In episode 20, Jaguars Wire contributor Phil Smith and I once again discussed a variety of buzz-worthy topics surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This week we started by discussing the Jags’ additions of Denard Robinson and Tony Gilbert as coaching assistants. As two former players for the organization, both could be great additions and we explained just what each brings to the table.

Afterward, we discussed the recent media conferences with Doug Marrone and Todd Wash, both of whom indicated that fans should pump the brakes on a move to the 3-4 defense. This is a topic that left a lot of Jags fans puzzled and both Phil and I discussed our personal opinions on what the Jags will run defensively.

Lastly, for our main topics, we discussed two players who aren’t on the roster: Jamal Adams and Colin Kaepernick.

Adams is a player who has been a core topic within the football community after demanding a trade from the New York Jets. And while the Jags aren’t necessarily a desired destination of his, they make sense as a candidate to land him. We discussed just why at the 20-minute mark.

Afterward, we discussed Kaepernick’s odds to land with the Jags as Vegas has him down with a 15/2 chance to be signed by them. It appears he has a strong chance to return to the NFL, so both Phil and I also examined why it could or couldn’t be the Jags.

Podcast: Jags march for Black Lives matter, Dave Caldwell’s top-5 worst picks

In episode 19 of the “Bleav in the Jags” podcast, Phil and James compiled a list of Caldwell’s worst draft picks and the latest in team news.

After a week off, Jags Wire contributor Phil Smith and I got back in the booth to record another episode of the “Bleav in the Jags” podcast. To follow up our last episode where we looked at Dave Caldwell’s best draft picks, we wrapped up our two-part series by previewing his five worst in episode 19.

However, before getting into our main topic, Phil and I discussed the monumental march that took place off the field as the Jags protested for the Black Lives Matters movement Friday. We also discussed Shad Khan’s essay against racism and what we’d like to see from him going forward to help against the battle inequality.

All of that and more was tackled in our latest podcast!

Podcast: Who is the Jags’ best player, biggest new addition, has the most to prove?

Jags Wire’s James Johnson and Phil Smith preview the outlook on who is the Jags’ best player, who willed to move themselves and more.

With another week in the books comes another episode of “Bleav in the Jags.”

For episode 17, Jags Wire contributor Phil Smith and I took a page from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Twitter following and discussed the outlook for the team with five important questions:

  • What players could fall short of expectations in 2020?
  • Who is the Jags’ best player?
  • Who is the team’s biggest new addition?
  • Who will take the biggest leap?
  • Who is on a prove-it year?

Beforehand we also discussed the contract of running back Chris Thompson and what he brings to the table, as well as the Jags trying to work their way back to TIAA Bank Field as the coronavirus pandemic continues to be an issue for the sports world.

Podcast: Fournette’s contract option gets declined, analysis on Shenault, Hamilton picks, Rodgers gets connected to Jags

James and Smith jumped in the booth to record yet another episode of “Bleav in the Jags” where they evaluated the Jags’ Day 2 picks.

With the 2020 NFL Draft in the books, the Jacksonville Jaguars  had to make a key decision on one of their current stars on the roster, Leonard Fournette, whose contract option was due to be picked up. With them declining the option, Jags Wire contributor Phil Smith and I decided to jump in the recording booth and discuss the topic on episode 15 of “Bleav in the Jags.”

We also continued our player analysis on the Jags’ 2020 draft class and discussed the selections of Laviska Shenault Jr. and DaVon Hamilton. To put it simply, the Jags got solid athletes in both and we looked into their pros, cons, and the outlook for each individual.

Lastly, we took a look at the recent CBS Sports’ article by Cody Benjamin which listed the Jags as a 2021 suitor for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. While we believe it’s hard to look that far into the future and an unlikely scenario, we looked at some key points that do make it a possibility.

All that and more was discussed and the full episode can be heard below.
