What time will Bears make 9th overall pick in 2023 NFL draft?

The Bears will make their first pick in the 2023 NFL draft at 9th overall. But exactly when can we expect it to go down?

The 2023 NFL draft is finally here, and the Chicago Bears are set to welcome a new group of rookies to the roster.

For just the second time in five years, the Bears will be making a pick in the first round. Their previous first-round selection was quarterback Justin Fields in 2021.

There are several directions that Chicago can go with the No. 9 pick, whether that’s trading down or staying put. Regardless, there will be plenty of options on the board to address one of their pressing needs.

So when exactly can Bears fans expect to the team to make their first selection? (Assuming they don’t trade down.)

With the way things panned out last year, it looks like Chicago will be picking at ninth overall around 8:09 p.m. CT.

The Bears have a slew of needs to address in this draft, where general manager Ryan Poles will be looking to add some impact players. There are some glaring needs at defensive tackle, edge rusher, offensive tackle and cornerback, among others.

But if one of their top six to eight prospects aren’t on the board at No. 9, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Chicago trade down for a second time in the first round.

Predicting the Bears’ first selection in the 2023 NFL draft

Our Bears Wire staff shares their predictions for what Chicago will do with their first pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

The 2023 NFL draft is here, and the Chicago Bears have a first-round pick for just the second time in the last five years.

After trading the No. 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers for a haul that included two first-rounders, two second-rounders and wide receiver DJ Moore, the Bears have the ninth overall pick in the 2023 draft, where general manager Ryan Poles will look to find an impact contributor.

Chicago has 10 total picks, including four inside the top 64. But we’re focused on Poles’ first first-round selection, where there are a number of directions the team could go in.

Assistant GM Ian Cunningham said the Bears will go with the “best player available” approach, where Chicago has six to eight players atop their draft board at No. 9.

Ahead of the draft, our Bears Wire staff is taking a crack at predicting what Chicago does with its first selection at ninth overall, and the fact that we all picked a different player speaks to the many scenarios that could play out for the Bears tonight.

Full Bears 7-round mock draft: Draft day edition!

The 2023 NFL draft kicks off tonight, and Nate Atkins is sharing his final Bears 7-round mock draft.

The 2023 NFL draft kicks off today, and the Chicago Bears need to fill gaps on the offensive line and add depth to the defensive line. With 10 draft picks, the Bears will have plenty of opportunities and draft capital to trade to improve the team.

In my final seven-round mock draft, Chicago spends their first two picks improving the offensive line. First, trading back from ninth overall to select Georgia right tackle Broderick Jones at 15th overall. With an additional second-round pick, the Bears draft Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz, 43rd overall.

It’s a balanced draft, with general manager Ryan Poles finding another trade partner in the middle rounds.

2023 NFL draft live stream: Time, TV Schedule and how to watch online

The first round starts tonight.

Thursday night offers football fans the first opportunity of the year to see what players from the collegiate game will make the jump to professional level, as the first round of the NFL draft begins.

The Miami Dolphins may not have a first-round selection this year due to tampering with now-retired quarterback Tom Brady and a trade for linebacker Bradley Chubb, but there’s still a chance that general manager Chris Grier makes a move to get back into the first 31 picks.

And, even if they don’t, it’s important for us all to see who’s going where, and which teams are making the biggest splashes.

Watch: Final Lions mock draft scenarios and draft preview

Breaking down the different mock draft scenarios for the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft

The 2023 NFL Draft is mere hours away. What will happen when the Detroit Lions go on the clock with picks No. 6 and 18 in Thursday night’s first round?

In the latest video in conjunction with the Detroit Lions Podcast, I did my best to break down the various options for Lions GM Brad Holmes with each of the picks. Because of the uncertainty around the picks before the Lions will select, it’s very difficult to know how it plays out.

[affiliatewidget_smgtolocal]

Therefore, I presented a few different scenarios that I think could be the way the first round flows for the Lions. It’s all done with the firsthand experience from covering Lions special assistant John Dorsey’s drafts in Cleveland that we’re just not going to know until it actually happens.

This video leans more on how I think the Lions see the draft. For my own personal choices, check out the “What I Would Do” mock draft as a sort of companion piece.
