Auburn vs. North Alabama: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for Tuesday’s game in Madison

Auburn hits the road for the first time this season to face North Alabama at Toyota Field, home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

Auburn Baseball plays North Alabama on Tuesday, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Los Angeles, the Auburn Tigers will travel to Madison to face North Alabama at Toyota Field, home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. The Tigers are looking to build on last weekend’s success after taking two-of-three games from Indiana at Plainsman Park.

Auburn got solid production at the plate from players such as [autotag]Justin Kirby[/autotag], [autotag]Ike Irish[/autotag], and [autotag]Bryson Ware[/autotag]. Now that the first series is in the rear-view, head coach [autotag]Butch Thompson[/autotag] says that it is now time for the players to dictate their place in the starting lineup

“We’ve got so many adjustments and things we can make moving forward. I think it’s good that the process has started for this team,” Thompson said.

The Lions enter the game with a 1-2 record after dropping their season-opening series to Milwaukee last weekend in Florence. After falling short in the first two contests of the weekend, North Alabama won Sunday’s game, 14-6 behind a three-hit, three-RBI game from leadoff batter Dominick McIntyre.

Here’s a look at everything you need to know ahead of Tuesday’s game in Madison… including a how-to-listen guide, pitching matchup, and a projected lineup.

The Tar Heels have a busy week upcoming. They have two mid-week games against Radford and then Longwood on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then, a top-15 matchup against No. 11 East Carolina to close out the week. The Pirates are coming off of a 3-0 series win over George Washington.

Other ACC programs in the top 25 include: Wake Forest (6), Virginia Tech (14), Louisville (16), Virginia (19), N.C. State (21) and Miami (22).

Ohio State baseball wins the series finale 10-5 over UConn

The baseball Buckeyes even up their record

The[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] baseball team got a win early this afternoon over UConn, 10-5, to even their early season record at 2-2.

The Buckeyes got off to a shaky start. Starter [autotag]Gavin Bruni[/autotag] gave up two earned runs in the top of the first, three total. He would last just 3.1 innings but the OSU bats got going before Bruni left.

Four singles in the bottom of the third put Ohio State up 3-2, but Bruni’s unearned run would tie the game back up.

The Buckeye bats once again got going, this time in the bottom of the fifth, with the big hit being a double by [autotag]Matthew Graveline[/autotag], scoring two. OSU would put up a five-spot and add two more in the 8th to get to their final tally of 10.

It can be said that the opening series was a success, given the level of the opponent and the fact that they were able to check off multiple boxes over the course of the weekend.

First, head coach [autotag]Bill Mosiello[/autotag] got his first win, along with the team’s first of the season. Second, they got their first road trip out of the way.

The Buckeyes are back on the road Thursday evening, as they travel to Phoenix, Arizona, for two games each against Grand Canyon University and Gonzaga, alternating opponents each day.

Gators stay put in D1Baseball rankings after opening weekend sweep

Florida’s dominant three-game sweep of Charleston Southern wasn’t enough to move the Gators up the D1Baseball Top 25.

The Florida Gators got out to a 3-0 start over the weekend, but beating up on Charleston Southern wasn’t enough to move them from the No. 7 spot on the D1Baseball rankings.

The top seven remain unchanged except for Stanford taking over the No. 2 spot from Tennessee after the Volunteers fell to Arizona and Grand Canyon in the MLB Desert Invitational. LSU is the top dog in the country right now and Ole Miss and Texas A&M have a hold on the Nos. 4 and 5 spots, respectively. Wake Forest comes in just ahead of Florida at No. 6, and Texas Christian, Arkansas and Vanderbilt round out the top 10.

TCU made the biggest jump of the weekend by starting the season off with convincing wins over Vanderbilt and Arkansas at the College Baseball Showdown in Arlington, Texas. The biggest drop of the weekend came from now No. 15 Oklahoma State, which previously sat at No. 9.

With seven SEC programs in the top 10, it’s easy to say that Florida is playing in the toughest conference in the country. Alabama is also ranked inside the top 25 at No. 20, and Miami, which is an annual opponent for Florida, is No. 22.

LSU baseball remains on top in SEC power rankings after perfect opening weekend

The Tigers started the year with a sweep over Western Michigan at Alex Box Stadium.

We got our first look at the highly anticipated 2023 LSU baseball team over the weekend, and it was a mostly stellar debut.

Paul Skenes was fantastic in his Tigers debut on Friday as coach Jay Johnson’s team began the year with a shutout 10-0 win. Saturday’s game was a bit too close for comfort as it ended 5-3, and Sunday’s finale looked like it was shaping up to be the same way before LSU pulled away for a 9-2 win.

The unanimous preseason No. 1 team held serve in its opening series despite losing star third baseman [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] in the first inning of the first game with a shoulder injury that held him out for the rest of the series, though he should return to the lineup this weekend.

LSU looked good despite being tested a bit in Game 2, and the preseason national title favorite remained on top of the On3 SEC power rankings after the first weekend of play.

LSU is one of the favorites to win this year’s College World Series, and the Tigers looked the part on opening weekend. Facing Western Michigan, LSU kicked things off with a 10-0 victory on Friday night. The Tigers got experience in a close game on Saturday, winning just 5-3 before going on to take the season finale 9-2 to earn the season-opening series sweep.

If LSU can stay healthy, this team’s ceiling is very high. The Tigers lost pitcher Grant Taylor to a season-ending injury just before the season started, and transfer third baseman Tommy White left the season opener after dislocating his shoulder, not returning for the rest of the series. Next up for LSU is a midweek matchup against Southern before playing in the Round Rock Classic over the weekend.

It helped the Tigers that the Tennessee team that began the week No. 2 in both the SEC power rankings and the national rankings had a disappointing first weekend, starting the year 1-2.

The Tigers should have White back for this weekend in the Round Rock Classic, and they’ll look to keep up their winning ways when they face Kansas State, Iowa and Sam Houston State this weekend.

We won’t know how good Texas baseball is until it can play defense

Texas baseball is capable of better play.

Texas’ baseball team epitomized the phrase “off the rails” on Sunday. The team couldn’t field the baseball. Continue reading “We won’t know how good Texas baseball is until it can play defense”

5 major takeaways from Florida’s opening-series sweep over Charleston Southern

We learned a lot about the 2023 Florida baseball team over the weekend, and the good news is they might be even better than we thought before the season started.

Florida baseball began its season the right way over the weekend with a sweep of Charleston Southern that saw the Gators outscore the Buccaneers 37-5 over three games.

Things could have been even more one-sided, too. Both programs agreed to a 10-run mercy rule for the series, and Florida ended each of the first two games by the seventh. The Gators threatened a third-straight mercy-rule win on Sunday, but only scored eight runs and played the first nine-inning game of the season.

It’s too early to declare the team Omaha-bound, but Florida looked strong in every phase of the game through the first weekend of the season. That said, there’s an entire season left to play and the players have to endure a tough SEC schedule before getting to the postseason. Things could look very different in just a few weeks.

But right now, Florida looks just as good as advertised and there aren’t many negatives to take away from opening weekend.

Aggies run rule Seattle, and notch first sweep of the season

Jim Schlossnagle and his Texas A&M baseball team is off to a hot start for 2023.

The brooms came out at Blue Bell Park in College Station on Sunday, as the Aggies took on the Seattle University RedHawks for the final game in their season opening three game series. And it didn’t take long for coach Schlossnagle’s crew to jump out to a big lead.

In the bottom of the 2nd, the Aggies took advantage of 6 walks, adding t3 singles and an RBI fielders choice to take a very early 6-0 lead.

The teams added two runs each from the 2nd through the 7th innings, before the Aggies bats exploded in the bottom of the 8th, when Trevor Werner and Ryan Targac hit back-to-back homeruns, and Kaeden Kent hit a 3 run triple to push the score to 14-2, and ending the game.

The Aggies got 5 innings of 2 run ball from starter Chris Cortez on the mound in his first start of the year, and the season is off to a great start.

The Aggies will host Lamar on Tuesday the 21st, at 5:00 pm at Blue Bell Park.
