Can the Boston Celtics hope to compete in a stacked East this season without Robert Williams III at its start?

The Celtics may be without Timelord until 2023.

Can the Boston Celtics hope to compete in a stacked Eastern Conference this season without the services of starting center Robert Williams III until close to the end of the 2022 calendar year?

With news settling in that Timelord will miss as much as the next 12 weeks as he recovers fully from an arthroscopic cleanup procedure, it is becoming clear the Celtics will need to lean even harder on their already-thin frontcourt rotation. With so much talent in the NBA’s East, will Boston be as competitive as they hoped?

The hosts of ESPN’s “NBA Today” show recently debated this important topic, and whether Al Horford, Grant Williams, Luke Kornet and the deep rotation of the team’s big men will be enough to win at a high rate in 2022-23.
