Caitlin Clark captures 19th Big Ten Player of the Week Award

Caitlin Clark has another accolade. For the 19th time in her career, Clark is the Big Ten Player of the Week.

Maybe they’ll just rename it the Caitlin Clark Award.

For the 19th time in her illustrious Hawkeye career, Iowa senior guard Caitlin Clark has captured the Big Ten Player of the Week Award. With this 19th honor, Clark is now tied for the second-most Big Ten Player of the Week Awards in league history.

The West Des Moines product tracks her latest weekly Big Ten award down after leading the Hawkeyes past then-No. 5 Virginia Tech, 80-76. In that statement game for Iowa, Clark finished with 44 points, grabbed eight boards, and added six assists. It’s the ninth time in Clark’s career that she’s topped the 40-point plateau.

Then, in the Hawkeyes’ 94-53 blowout road win at Northern Iowa, Clark became Iowa’s all-time scoring leader after tallying 24 points. The 6-foot guard also notched her 12th career triple-double against the Panthers, dishing out 11 assists and snagging 10 rebounds.

Clark averaged 32.0 points, 9.0 assists and 8.3 rebounds per game last week.

It’s the fourth different season where Clark has registered a triple-double.  She is only the second player in women’s college basketball history to have done that, joining Oregon‘s Sabrina Ionescu in that distinction.

Clark’s last Big Ten Player of the Week Award came on Feb. 27, 2023.
