Brooks Koepka expertly trolled Bryson DeChambeau over driver issues

Brooks Koepka, without prompt, discussed how he’s feeling about his driver, a clear nod at his biggest rival in the PGA Tour.

No one had to ask Brooks Koepka about his driver. The PGA star wasted no time informing the public that he’s at peace with the club at The Open Championship at Royal St George’s Golf Club in England.

It seemed like a harmless comment. It wasn’t. Koepka was leaning into his rivalry with Bryson DeChambeau.

Koepka was asked about how he was able to be more aggressive following his second round. After talking about the wind, he slipped in a not-so-sneaky shot at his rival, DeChambeau.

“Drove the ball great. Love my driver,” Koepka told Golf Channel with a smile. “Everything’s going really well.”

It’s so good. It’s maniacal.

And that smirk? That was the twist of the knife.

Koepka’s comments are a clear wink at DeChambeau, who complained about how his driver “sucks” after a rough first round on Thursday. His comments even sparked a response from the company that makes the club: Cobra.

Koepka, the PGA’s too-cool prom king, is the perfect foil to Bryson, who is equal parts diva and nerd. As different as they are, it’s impossible not to love both.
