Bobby Wagner spent Wednesday afternoon visiting the Los Angeles Rams, his first visit with a team as a free agent. It didn’t end in Wagner signing with the Rams (yet) but he’s clearly interested in what they’re building in Los Angeles, and the team likes him as a player, too.
When weighing his options in free agency, Wagner seems focused on joining a contender. At LAX on Wednesday, TMZ Sports asked him what his ideal landing spot is, and he simply said “not sure.”
He then said “I just want to win” if there’s a team that stands out, not giving away any hints as to where he’ll sign. The Rams are clearly a contender ready to win right now, attempting to go back-to-back as Super Bowl champions.
Wagner would also have the added benefit of facing his former team, the Seahawks, twice a year if he joins the Rams. Given the way things went down with his release from Seattle, it’s reasonable to think he’d love the chance to beat the Seahawks two times a year.
The 49ers and Cardinals are also reportedly interested in Wagner, so he has his options. But considering the Rams are the only team he’s visited, they might be at the top of his list.
