Bills’ Nyheim Hines named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

#Bills’ Nyheim Hines named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week:

Buffalo Bills running back and kick returner Nyheim Hines has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against the New England Patriots in Week 18.

The honor was announced on Wednesday.

It is the second time in Hines’ career he was named a player of the week (2019). It’s also the second time the Bills special teams unit has been recognized in 2022.

For November, kicker Tyler Bass was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

Hines’ selection this week comes as much less surprise.

The return man blew away Buffalo and the rest of the NFL after taking back the opening kickoff to start the Week 18 matchup.

It was the first time in over three years that the Bills took the opening kickoff for a touchdown and it came on the heels of Damar Hamlin’s injury.

Hines then later helped bury the Pats even further by returning another kickoff for a score.

The Bills acquired Hines at the 2022 NFL trade deadline in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts to bolster their return game.
