The NFL has changed their kickoff rules.
Brandon Beane isn’t sold just yet.
At the league meetings on Tuesday, owners changed the format for kickoffs to promote more returns. Originally the new rules began in the XFL.
The change will have 10 players on the kicking team and at least nine players on the receiving team now line up five yards apart. They won’t begin running until the ball gets back to the returner.
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, the Bills GM pumped the brakes a little. Beane predicted that after and potentially during the upcoming preseason, we could see tweaks.
Check out Beane’s full thoughts in the clip below:
"I do like the new kickoff rule but I think it's gonna have to be tweaked a little bit..
I think there's gonna be some tinkering maybe even after the preseason" ~ Brandon Beane #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/eK9epAVbFu
