The start of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 season looks perfect in the standings, but quarterback Patrick Mahomes is focused on his flaws and improving immediately.

During his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Bill Belichick acknowledged Mahomes’ leadership after the Week 3 victory over the Falcons.

“One of the things that really jumped out at me was last night when they interviewed (Patrick) Mahomes, he talked about, I mean, they’re three and, oh, and you could easily sit there and say, oh, they’re on course,” said Belichick. And here we go again, a big win in Atlanta. But, there’s Mahomes talking about how bad they’re playing and how much harder they need to work and improve.”

During the post-game press conference, Mahomes talked about fixing his game and not believing he played well. The desire to be better has impressed the legendary head coach, who continued to talk highly of his championship mindset.

“Honestly, I think that’s the attitude of a champion right there. It just jumps off the screen at you,” Said Belichick. “They want a big game. And really, what he’s talking about is how much work they have to do, how much better they need to be, how it all starts with him, and I would still take his performance over a lot of other guys in this league. But, you know, here he is putting on his shoulders. When he says that, and you’re another member of that team, it’s hard for you not to take the same attitude and say, you know, what? If Patrick feels like we got to play better, he’s got to play better, then maybe I got to play better too. I thought that was great leadership from their leader.”

Mahomes and the Chiefs hope to have their minor issues addressed ahead of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
