Auburn set to host Virginia Tech in inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge

The first ever ACC/SEC Challenge will take place this November.

As the conference landscape continues to change, so do traditional college basketball staples.

The Big 12/SEC Challenge enjoyed a 10-season run from 2013-23. However, as the SEC plans to welcome Oklahoma and Texas to the conference, ESPN has elected to go in a different direction when it comes to the power conference challenge.

This season, the SEC will battle the ACC in the new ACC/SEC Challenge. All 14 SEC members will do battle with a representative of the ACC on the dates of November 28 and 29, the week following the final regular season football game of the 2023 season.

ESPN revealed the slate on Wednesday, and the Auburn Tigers learned that they would be playing the Virginia Tech Hokies on Wednesday, November 29 at 8:15 p.m. CT at Neville Arena. The game will be broadcasted on the ESPN family of networks, with the broadcast assignment being released at a later time.

The Hokies finished with a 19-15 record last season, with an 8-12 record in ACC play. Virginia Tech finished seventh in the ACC standings and ended its season with an 82-71 loss to Cincinnati in the first round of the NIT.
