What’s Going To Happen
Arkansas State is rolling, and South Alabama really, really isn’t.
The Jaguars can’t had a lick of luck this year as they close out without a win over an FBS team so far. They’ve been competitive throughout the Sun Belt campaign, but there hasn’t been enough offensive punch to come through at the right times.
The Arkansas State defense is just lousy enough for USA to make some noise – Tra Minter and the ground attack should push for 200 yards for the first time all year – but the Jaguar D is about to get bombed on.
No receiver in America is playing better than ASU’s Omar Bayless – averaging over 17 yards per catch with 80 grabs for 1,375 yards and 15 scores – and he’s about to go off again.
Outside of a rocky performance against Texas State, ASU freshman quarterback Layne Hatcher has been fantastic – throwing for 297 yards or more with two touchdown passes or more – in six of his last seven games. He’ll hit the 300-yard mark, but in its season finale, USA will provide a wee bit of a fight.
The last three Red Wolves games have been decided by a touchdown or less. This won’t be that, but it won’t be a total wipeout.
