Arizona Cardinals take knee on PAT and cost bettors the cover

Taking a knee on the PAT cost some Arizona Cardinals backers big time on Sunday

The play was amazing. Kyler Murray’s throw had to be perfect and DeAndre Hopkins had to be better. The Arizona wideout came down with a touchdown pass in the final seconds Sunday as the Cardinals shocked the Buffalo Bills.

Also in shock are bettors who watched the Cardinals’ Murray take a knee on the PAT. Rather than kicking it, Arizona played it safe and wound up with a 32-30 victory.

Forgive Arizona fans if they have mixed emotions. Anyone who wagered on the Cardinals likely gave the Bills 2.5 points — that was the line at game time.

So, by not attempting the PAT for a single point and by simply taking a knee to preserve the victory, Arizona ensured a loss for anyone who decided to give the 2.5.

The good news if you are a Cardinals fan, though, is they are 6-3 and in a first-place tie in the NFC West. Hopefully, that offers some consolation. Some, not much.
