The second round of the NFL Draft is now underway, and a Minnesota fan favorite has been selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Antoine Winfield Jr. is on his way to Tampa, where he will be playing on the other side of the ball from Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.
The Bucs select Antoine Winfield, Jr., whose father Antoine Winfield, Sr. intercepted new Bucs QB Tom Brady all the way back in 2001, Brady’s first season as a starting QB.

The new-look Buccaneers are going to be a lot different in 2020, and it’s not just because of their new jersey scheme. The team has done a fantastic job of adding talent this offseason and it will be interesting to see how the 42-year-old Brady will play with the talent around him.
The argument can be made that Brady has more talent around him now than he’s had on some of his Super Bowl-winning teams in New England. Winfield Jr. is another piece added to an up-and-coming defense, with young, talented players such as Vita Vea and Devin White already on the roster. The team also has a stellar pass rusher in outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett.
It would have been fun seeing the son of former Viking Antoine Winfield Sr. in purple, but the team has more pressing needs that they will look to address over the next two days. Winfield Jr. will get his change to start from day one on a team that has extremely high hopes heading into 2020.
