Andy Reid on Chiefs RT Andrew Wylie matching up with Raiders DE Maxx Crosby: ‘They always have a good fight’

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid weighed in on a key player matchup in Monday night’s game.

Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid weighed in on a key matchup in the upcoming Monday night tilt with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Andrew Wylie got his first start of the 2021 NFL season in Week 10 against the Raiders. During that game, he was tasked with going up against former Eastern Michigan teammate Maxx Crosby. It wasn’t the prettiest performance, but Wylie didn’t give up a sack in that game. He battled and earned the trust of his teammates and the coaching staff in the process.

When the two were matched up again in Week 14, Crosby again was held without a sack again. Monday will mark the third matchup between the two former teammates in their professional careers. Reid weighed in on the upcoming matchup between the two players.

“Well, they always have a good fight, they went to college together (Eastern Michigan) and so there’s that part of it and I think they probably both like playing against each other because they just kind of beat the dog out of each other,” Reid said. “Seems like it’s quite a competition and so I would just tell you that. I mean Crosby’s gotten him a few times, he’s got Crosby a few times, that’s how it works.”

It would seem that Reid is expecting a back-and-forth matchup between Wylie and Crosby in Week 5. It could be a pivotal one that sets the pace for the offense in Kansas City and the defense in Las Vegas.

Crosby is currently leading the Raiders in sacks with four on the season. No other player in Las Vegas has more than one sack. Chandler Jones, who plays opposite Crosby, has been held without a sack so far this year.

Meanwhile, Wylie has allowed just one sack on the season. That came during the Week 4 game against the Buccaneers.
