The LSU Tigers host the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday evening in Baton Rouge.

For many years, this game would determine the SEC West; however, in 2020, this game will have a completely different vibe with LSU sitting at 2-3 and unranked.

This series dates all the way back to Nov. 18, 1895, with LSU winning the first meeting by a score of 12-6.

The Crimson Tide lead the all-time series 53-26-5, having won the previous eight meetings before former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow led the No. 2 Tigers to a thrilling 46-41 victory over No. 3 Alabama last November.

The Tigers went into halftime with a seemingly comfortable 33-13 lead before Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the Crimson Tide came storming back.

Alabama came within five points before LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson recovered the onside kick, giving the Tigers a decisive win en route to the national championship.

Burrow completed 31 of 39 passes for 393 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 64 yards. That win cemented Burrow as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner.

These two schools have met every season since 1964, and this weekend’s battle is the first time since 2006 that one of these teams is unranked heading into this game.

While LSU’s SEC title hopes are long gone, this will be a major test for Alabama.
