The highly anticipated Texas Classic, which featured No. 8 Alabama Softball, has been canceled.
Winter weather has been the deciding factor for the cancellation, with snow forecasted and temperatures not expected to reach 40 degrees throughout the weekend in Austin, Texas, the host site for the Texas Classic.
The University of Texas released a statement on Thursday citing the cancellation:
“With the weather forecast scheduled to deteriorate for the local Austin-metro area over the next few days, and with the safety of our traveling teams and fans foremost in mind, Texas has made the difficult decision to cancel its season-opening Texas Classic.”
With the news, Head Coach Patrick Murphy went to Twitter in hopes to find a new opponent for the weekend.
OK … so @AlabamaSB is looking for games to play this weekend.

Unless Coach Murphy gets his wish, the Crimson Tide will open the 2021 season on February 19 against Liberty, the opening game to the Easton Bama Bash.
