AFC South standings: Titans still in 1st place, but lead over Colts shrinks

The biggest threat to the Titans’ AFC South crown, the Colts, inched closer after Week 4.

After losing to the New York Jets in Week 4, the Tennessee Titans remain in first place in the AFC South, but their lead over the Indianapolis Colts, the biggest threat to the Titans’ division crown, has shrunk a bit.

The Colts were the only AFC South team to win in Week 4, notching a 27-17 win over the Miami Dolphins. The Houston Texans were blown out by the Buffalo Bills, 40-0, and the Jacksonville Jaguars lost a close one to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night, 24-21.

Here’s a look at how things shake out after the events of Sunday:

  1. Tennessee Titans (2-2)
  2. Houston Texans (1-3)
  3. Indianapolis Colts (1-3)
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4)

If the playoffs started today, the Titans would have the No. 4 seed, setting up a matchup with the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs for a third straight year.

Looking ahead to Week 5, the Titans will hit the road once again, this time to take on the Jaguars for what is their second divisional matchup of the 2021 season after playing and beat the Colts in Week 3.

Meanwhile, the Colts will travel to take on the Ravens on Monday night, and the Texans will play host to the New England Patriots.

After Week 5, the Titans’ schedule gets very tough, with matchups against the Bills (home), Kansas City Chiefs (home), Colts (road), Los Angeles Rams (road), and New Orleans Saints (home) upcoming.
