AFC South standings: How Titans can clinch division in Week 15

The Titans have a chance to clinch the AFC South in Week 15.

After notching a 20-0 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14 at Nissan Stadium, the Tennessee Titans (9-4) are in position to clinch the AFC South as soon as Week 15.

Tennessee now owns a two-game plus tie-breaker lead over the Indianapolis Colts in the division with four games left after the Colts were on a bye in Week 14, dropping the Titans’ magic number to two.

That means the Titans can wrap up the division this coming Sunday with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field, and a Colts loss to the New England Patriots at Lucas Oil Stadium.

  1. Tennessee Titans (9-4)
  2. Indianapolis Colts (7-6)
  3. Houston Texans (2-11)
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-11)

The only downside to that scenario is that the Patriots would remain in the No. 1 seed over the Titans for another week. Tennessee and New England share the same record, but the Titans are officially No. 2 in the conference because the Pats own the head-to-head tie-breaker.

Should Tennessee win the AFC South once again this year, it would be their first back-to-back division titles in the Titans era, and the first time the franchise has accomplished such a feat since they won three division crowns in a row as the Houston Oilers from 1960-62 in the AFL.

Tennessee and Pittsburgh will meet on Sunday, with kickoff set for noon CT, while the Colts and Pats will square-off on Saturday night, with kickoff set for 7:15 p.m. CT.
