After a Duke upset of Florida State to start day-two action the 2021 ACC baseball tournament, the Seminoles were eliminated from potentially advancing to the semi-finals that are set to take place Saturday.
As a result, three of the four semifinalists will be known after Thursday’s day-three action in Charlotte.
Fourth-seeded Miami takes on No. 9 Duke at 11 a.m. ET with the winner advancing to Saturday’s action, even with Miami still having a game left to play against Florida State on Friday.
No. 7 Louisville and No. 2 Georgia Tech will meet in the second game of the day with the winner advancing to the semis and the loser heading home.
And the nightcap Thursday will be between No. 3 NC State and No. 10 Pitt. After Pitt’s upset of North Carolina on Tuesday, the winner of this game will also head to the semi-finals.
That sets up a Friday of action at the tournament with only No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 8 Virginia having an impact on the semi-final round as the winner of that game will join the three winners from Thursday.
