Losing kickoff specialist Jace Feely to injury certainly didn’t help, but Colorado football’s lack of touchbacks throughout the regular season was a major issue. Head coach Deion Sanders even noted his intention to solve the problem last month: “We’ll have touchbacks next year, I’ll promise you that.”
On Tuesday evening, Colorado made a potential step in the right direction as Class of 2025 kicker Elliott Arnold announced his commitment to the Buffs. Arnold is a five-star prospect (per Kohl’s Kicking Camps) who was recently a finalist for the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football High School Kicker of the Year award.
Per MaxPreps, the McCallie School (Chattanooga, Tenn.) senior produced a touchback on 34 of his 40 kickoff attempts this past season. He also went 15-for-17 on field goals, including a season-long of 51 yards, and 41-for-43 on extra points.
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound Arnold visited Boulder last month and holds offers from the TCU Horned Frogs and Tennessee Volunteers.
