This New York Giants season has had a little bit of everything, so why not a quarterback controversy?
On Friday, head coach Brian Daboll said no decision has been made on who will start at quarterback, Tommy DeVito or Drew Lock, in Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints.
“We just got done watching this tape,” Daboll said. “We’ll see where we’re at. We’ll see where Tommy’s at. We’ll see where Drew’s at. We’ll make that decision today.”
DeVito was elevated to the starting role over Daniel Jones two weeks ago against Tampa Bay after the team decided that they were going to sit Jones for the remainder of the year. DJ was cut last Friday upon his request.
DeVito completed 21 of 31 passes for 189 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions in the Giants’ 30-7 loss to the Bucs. He rushed seven times for 32 yards and was sacked four times in the game.
Lock drew the start on Thanksgiving in Dallas after DeVito was ruled out with a forearm injury. He completed 21 of 32 passes for 178 yards with no touchdowns and ran four times for 57 yards, including an eight-yard touchdown.
Lock also had a sloppy side to his performance, throwing a pick-6 and losing a fumble that set up another Cowboys touchdown.
“We’ll evaluate the two games that both of those guys played,” added Daboll.
“I thought Drew did some good things yesterday. We got to, obviously, clean up the turnovers. Turnovers, the ones that were seven points to the defense, and then back up when we get some points. We got to make sure we’re taking care of the ball. Give our guys a chance down the field to make some plays.”
The Giants just can’t seem to put any kind of momentum together this season. Now they can’t figure out who will be their quarterback for their next game. What’s next?
