No. 20 Texas A&M (8-3, 5-2 SEC) will face the No. 3 Texas Longhorns for the first time in 13 seasons, as the Lone Star Showdown is officially back from the remaining future after Texas officially joined the SEC this summer.
However, this is the first time in matchup history that the stakes are this high, as the winner of Saturday’s game will earn a trip to Atlanta to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game.
This week, head coach Mike Elko has continually stated that his team understands the gravity of the postseason implications. The Aggies need two more wins to solidify a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Knowing the challenges the Longhorns present on both sides of the ball, it’ll be up to the starting quarterback, Marcel Reed, and Texas A&M’s pass rush, especially defensive ends Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart, to take over the game and make early impacts.
On Thursday, just hours into Thanksgiving, Texas A&M’s media team revealed that the Aggies will wear a maroon helmet, jersey, and white pants, while Texas is expected to wear the all-white look, the program’s regular road attire.
Looks like A&M will wear their traditional maroon helmet, maroon jersey and white pants this Saturday against Texas. https://t.co/XTNKQx4JS1
