The UFC handed out four bonuses after Saturday’s card, including one for a monumental upset.
After UFC Fight Night 248, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Macau. Check out the winners below.
Performance of the Night: Muslim Salikhov
Muslim Salikhov def. Song Kenan via knockout (spinning wheel kick) – Round 1, 3:49
Muslim Salikhov (20-5 MMA, 7-4 UFC) is no stranger to highlight-reel finishes, and the 40-year-old delivered another one with a spinning wheel kick finish of Song Kenan (22-8 MMA, 6-4 UFC). Salikhov also had a bonus-winning spinning wheel kick finish of Andre Fialho in 2022.
Performance of the Night: Gabriella Fernandes
Gabriella Fernandes def. Wang Cong via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 2, 3:49
Gabriella Fernandes (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) was a massive underdog to the undefeated 12-1 favorite Wang Cong (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who was fighting on friendly turf. But Fernandes clocked her with a head kick, sat her down with a punch, pounced on her and choked her briefly unconscious with a rear-naked choke for one of the biggest betting upsets in UFC history.
Performance of the Night: Zhang Mingyang
Zhang Mingyang def. Ozzy Diaz via knockout (elbow) – Round 1, 2:25
Zhang Mingyang (18-6 MMA, 2-0 UFC) picked up his second first-round finish in the UFC in two fights – and added to a pretty amazing overall record of 18 wins, 18 first-round finishes – when he shut out the lights on Ozzy Diaz (9-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) for his second straight bonus.
Performance of the Night: Ming Shi
Ming Shi def. Xiaocan Feng via knockout (head kick) – Round 3, 0:46
Ming Shi (16-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) pulled off a big betting upset when she knocked out 6-1 favorite Xiaocan Feng (10-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) with a brutal head kick 46 seconds into the third round. Shi connected her shin right onto Feng’s jaw, then hit. her with a few punches on the canvas before the ref jumped in. The win gave her the “Road to UFC” women’s strawweight tournament crown – and also sent Feng out of the arena on a stretcher and to the hospital for precautionary reasons after the finish, which left her unconscious and convulsing on the canvas.
