Chip Trayanum is ruled out for the game versus Ole Miss

Running back Chip Trayanum will miss Saturday’s game against Ole Miss with his hand injury.

There was hope that Kentucky running back Chip Trayanum would be able to play this week after he was cleared earlier in the week. However, he was ruled “doubtful” on Wednesday’s availability report, and on Thursday, his status was changed to “out.”

Trayanum originally broke his hand back before the season started, and was expected to miss the first few weeks of the season. However, he will now miss his fifth game.

Kentucky’s running game has been strong, even without Trayanum, who was expected to be the team’s lead back. The Ohio State transfer has size and power, and there was excitement around his addition to the roster.

The good news for the Wildcats is that the other running backs have played well in his absence. Demie Sumo-Karngbaye is averaging 4.6 yards per carry, while Jamarion Wilcox and Jason Patterson have both been solid when called upon.

As for Trayanum, after the Ole Miss game, Kentucky has a bye week. Hopefully, he’ll be ready to go after the break.
