Cardinals can get another 2 monkeys off their back in Week 3

After getting ending a home losing streak against the Rams in Week 2, they can snap long losing streaks against the Lions and Jared Goff.

The Arizona Cardinals did something in Week 2 they had not done in a long time. They beat the L.A. Rams at home.

They had not done that in a decade. The last time they had beaten the Rams at home, it was the game in November 2014 in which Carson Palmer tore his ACL.

So they got a proverbial monkey off their back.

They have another opportunity in Week 3 to do the same.

It is a couple of monkeys.

The Cardinals have not beaten the Rams since 2015, going 0-4-1.

They have not beaten Detroit’s starting quarterback, Jared Goff, between the time he spent with the Rams and the Lions, since 2016. They are 0-8 in eight games against him since his rookie season. He has thrown 14 touchdown passes and rushed for another three in those eight games.

So a Cardinals win on Sunday would snap a pair of losing streaks. Their losing streak against the Lions would end and so would their losing streak against Goff.

The Cardinals and Lions kick off Sunday afternoon at State Farm Stadium at 1:25 p.m. Arizona time.
