It wasn’t pretty but Michigan State was able to kick off the Jonathan Smith era with a victory over Florida Atlantic, 16-10, on Friday night.
The Spartans used a stifling defensive effort to hold onto a late lead over the Owls and earn the season-opening victory. With the win, Michigan State improved to 1-0 on the season.
